Since noone explained in details so far, here it is...

Use a hex editor and do the following:
in file md5.tar (for example md5_FAC_FACFA51_J320FXXU0APA4_CL6921306_QB8383786_ REV00_user_mid_noship.tar)
at hex offset 0x0200 change 0x01 to 0x00
or in file md5.img (un-tar-ed image)
at hex offset 0x0000 change 0x01 to 0x00
then re-tar the file
Works on all combi md5.tar files, and it's just friggin' magical!!
