no dude it will not damage u mobile i am facing same problem for new chip for only new chip u have to use external power other wise it will not flash u can try in any box ufs,jaf,mt.
when u face the problem u will know it
first check wheather my solution work r not, i have succesfully solved this type of prob nearly 15sets all r ok
note use extpower only for this new chip only
