The story: Back in the old days metro pcs never used the universal code of "587846" for programming of the phones; just like sprint they had very specific codes for each esn. This is the same case for these older model metro phones. The answer: Get a metro spc code calculator and enter the esn that is shown in the *3001#12345#.
