| check if there is some connector similar to the one shown in the attached picture (this was taken from the iphone 3G) to which the antenna/s that exist in it connect to. Could be the antenna/s were not attached firmly to this one and that is why you are having low wifi reception.

PS. in your picture in fact there is such a connector. Check that it does get the antenna connected to it IF there is any.
