hey, stick to any firmware below IOS 4, best for 3G.
So i would suggest you do a clean restore to 3.1.3 not 3.1.2 .
Use redsn0w 0.9.4 to jailbreak your 3G but use firmware 3.1.2 this time on redsn0w.
Do a complete upgrade of cydia after jailbreak.....this will stabilize your iphone OS and cydia.
