Bengali keymat new SW for Old Keymat issue

Background Introduction

Due to Bangladesh government's decision to use the new Keymat for all mobile phone’s input method for Bengali language, all NOKIA ITUT phones will use the are new version lite 2 keymat as final solution. Program also releases new software version for this change before July 1st.

The old keymat is called Bengali 1 and the new keymat is called Bengali Lite 2. The difference between the Bengali 1 and Bengali Lite 2 is shown in the below pictures:

New Bengali keymat is planned to be shipped from Nokia Supplier in WK27.4, then Care can start the order for new keymat from WK27.4. That mean no Bengali 1 keymat can be ordered from factory after WK27.4.

Repair solution and procedure
When end user comes to the service center concerning 1280, Nokia 100 or Nokia 101, please follow the next steps:
Step 1. Fix the issue
Step 2. Check if the software version is corresponding with keymat version.
- If the keypad layout is Bengali 1, ensure that the SW for 1280 is 6.51 or earlier. For Nokia 101
the SW should be 6.90 or earlier, Nokia 100 should be 3.60 or earlier.
- If the keypad layout is Bengali Lite 2, ensure that the SW for 1280 is 6.70 or later. For
Nokia 101 SW should be 7.20 or later, Nokia 100 SW should be 3.90 or later.

As to other 2 possible scenarios, the solution is as below:

1. In the service center wrong operation has been done, that means they updated the SW to the newest SW version in DPM for the phone with Bengali 1 keymat. In hat case, replace the Bengali 1 keymat with Bengali Lite 2 keymat manually.

2. In case the Bengali 1 keymat is broken, the service center need to update the software to newest SW version and replace the Bengali 1 keymat with Bengali Lite 2 keymat.
