I'm after some software that will take an IMEI number and return information on that handset.
I know that some of the IMEI's 15 digits identify manufacturer, model, country, and serial number - so does anyone know of an app that calculate this???
No need to be after any software. Just press *#06# in your handset. The IMEI will be displayed on screen. The code will work for any gsm mobile. You will achieve a 15 digit IMEI number. first six are TYPE APPROVAL CODE, next two are FINAL ASSEMBLY CODE, next six are SERIAL NUMBER and the last one is SPARE. If u want to see the IMEI in your PC monitor[your mobile display may be out of order:) ] you have to connect your mobile to the PC with a data cable[usually data cables are different for each model and manufacturer] and u can find ur desired software for most of the manufacturers at www.mobile.box.sk for free.Usually unlockers and utility softwares automatically display the IMEI. for example "logo manager" displays the IMEI and even the lock code for nokia mobiles.

I understand that you can get the IMEI from the handset. ;) However, I am looking for software that will tell me the manufacturer, model, country, and serial number after I give it a IMEI number.

Thats more like what I was looking for...however the info doesn't seem to be updated very often. e.g. no Nokia 7250i or N-Gage on their complete list. Now this info must have come from somewhere else...so where can we find this info???

Again though it appears to be outdated...e.g. I have a Nokia 7250 with a Final Assembly Code of 80 - Philips! :confused:

Looking deeper into the site I found the info I wanted, but for the UK only:

So it seems babt.co.uk are responsible for allocating IMEI numbers to the manufacturers...so who is responsible for the other countries, and more importantly, who is responsible for all of them? Hopefully there we will be able to find the TAC details for all handsets ever produced worldwide?
