Dear all,

If got three GX10i at home and two of them are not charging anymore.

Does anyone else have had this problem?

They use to charge with the red LED lit.

Can any1 help me in finding out what the cause can be and how to get it back charging. Please don't tell me to have it repair because that was my 1st thought and short on quids.

could it be that my charger killed both phones? Measuring the voltage on the charger I get 7.56 volts. Is this what it should be?

Can any1 confirm this please.

Have you tried using the battery of the phone that does work in the 2 phones that don't? Do the phone switch on? Do they charge? If so, just buy new batteries, if not, you have a HW problem!

thanks for your thoughts m8s but yes It's not a battery problem. these will charge on a different GX10i.
my biggest concern is that both were charged with the same non genuine charger with these 7.6 volts.

can any1 confirm if this voltage is correct?

the chargers shouldnt make any difference but i might b wrong

my both phones had this problem with the original chargers

but when u send them to the repair centre - they want the chargers 2 - so there fore u dont tell them that u used copy

otherwise they aint goin to bother

Had the same problem myself.
Vodafone replaced the handset with a recon one as it was 3 months old.
Must be a common problem.
7.6v would be normal for the charger.

open your phone, there are 2 diodes(on the face of the board with the keypad, down near the charging conector, left side) see that one of them is in short circuit, change it .( I alllready made 5 phones. The phone charge even without the diode , it is only overcharge protection.

BTW these pics are from a gx10 and not gx10i where I have the charging problems. Hope these identical for the purpose.

The diode should be in this picture , but it isn`t because this is gx10m . it must be on left of A3 label, on the corner of the board.
You ca easily see if you open a GX10I.

Nice one tito2002 , worked for me a treat ! :D

despite not having worked for me I got around it by buying a desktop charger for 4 or 5 quid. Just connected the transformer to the desktop charger and it does it perfectly. switches off charging when battery is full either

Thanks will check it out , easier to sell a desktop charger than to repair the phone :)

I know a few people with this problem !

That`s another problem!
I think you first must check the charger!
