I would like to start my GSM programmer "career" ;) I need advice about where and with what should I start: development environment, SDKs, usefull links, general advices. I'm especially interested in Nokia phones, since I have one, too. :)
Any information is wellcome! :D

Hegyi, when you will be ready - you will see a lot of information. So far just go to your goul and dont listen to others. I mean dont listen, but hear. And also - if you have a good knowledge - start with someting easy. - download some com port snipper and look for the bootloaders, algo in a free distributed softwares - you will get an idea how all this works. After that try to implement it to your software and see if it will work. To build a software for new phones - you should know a lot and also it is not *** enough - you need to know at least how computer communicate with the phone and the best thing - have a snippset from original software...
good luck to you!

Ok. I see that we are not getting anywhere. Let's take it in an other way, let's be more precise :)
I have a Nokia phone with black/white (not color) screen, supporting Java applications.
I want to write a Java application which would turn the lights on my phone up and down in every 5 seconds, meaning:
0 sec - lights are down
5th sec - lights up
10th sec - lights down
15th sec - lights up
20th sec - lights down
....
and so on, till I quit the application.
Where do I get the neccesary for this? I presume I need some hardware description and some SDK, and of course and adecvate development environment for the SDK. Where can I get these?
Thank you! :D
hmm.. I thought about the real gsm programming :)
if you want to create java gadgets for your phone, download Java 2 Micro Edition development platform from www.sun.com/java but I am not sure about the phone OS will allow any particular applet to access low-level components like lights (a device which cannot be mapped into any generic). Java is a standard platform, so why not start reading some books on it? They are available also in Hungarian :)
(If you prefer online versions, check links below the given sun address for docs)

Still not getting anywhere  People! You are still not giving me usefull info.
It seems I have to do it on my own :(
Thanx for everybody, who was posting on this thread.
By! :p
maybe none of us understood you well :)
one thing I am absolutely sure about: you CAN NOT switch lights in Nokia via standard Java API.
anyway seemingly you are like my old pal somewhat 8 years ago when programming course started, and he came in at the half of the first lesson, with a coke, and asked us "When will we code DOOM?" ;)
