I have the very same problem.
Exept I use Jabra BT 200. Phone works fine with that and its wire hands free, but the built in mic seems dead.
Almost never used and always kept in skin or other protection.
Upgraded today from software v. 5 to 19 (!) using data cable. No change.

(Hint, that works fine in Sweden: Buy the cable for 399 SEK in a shop that have a refund policy, use it and then return it to the shop, in good shape and get your money back...)

Have you had any progres?
Glad for all good advice.
Peace!

Right after posting my previous question, I thought: What the heck, and grabbed my toolbox.

This one worked for me. It is for the mechanically minded, some skill needed.
Don't do it if you later want to use any kind of warranty, or if you don't know what you are doing (and don't blame me if it doesn't work for you!). The following waves any kind of guarantee you may have left on your phone.

Important:
Read a l l of the following before you start, because after reading you will understand why you maybe don't have to go through all of it!
Also, extreme care has to be taken about the very very smal parts you risk to lose.

1.
Remove the battery and sim-card.

2.
Remove the four torx screws using a T05X40 tool. Nothing else will do.
Do not scratch the black screws!

3.
Keep the phone on its stomach, slide the back cover to the telephone bottom end and up, there are two tabs holding the upper parts of the case together.

4.
Lift the circuit board carefully holding the sides of the display, and put it aside.

5.
Now you see the round black rubber casing holding the microphone. There are two very very small golden springs sticking up to make contact with the circuit board you just removed.
The springs may be the reason for your dead microphone on the Siemens S55.

6.
Be very careful with the springs, they come out if you pull them - and they dissapear very easily!
Maybe you don't have to pull them out, if they both are long enough.
About one millimeter above the black rubber surface will do.

7.
Put everything back in reversed order.
Make sure you tighten the torx screws. But be careful not to tighten too hard, the screws goes into plastic holes!

Check this first:
Maybe it is just enough to tighten the four torx screws!
In my case I had to strech one of the springs a bit, and this solved my problem.

The springs had too little contact with the circuit board. Streching one spring and/or tightening the Torx screws helped!

Please note that the springs are less than one millimeter in diameter and maybe 2,5 - 3 millimeters long. Like all springs they want to jump out of sight - and then you'll never find them.
We are talking small...
Also the lower end of the springs are a bit wider and they are a little tricky to get back down into their holes. I used a thin sewing needle for this.
Use good lights and make "walls" around your working space...

Remember: Try tightening the screws first, maybe that is enough!

Good luck!
