any suggestions.

i'll be buying a laptop, i just dont know what brand to buy &

what processor, that will be best for use in repairing/programing

etc. cellphones.

i want something that is not so exotic that its out of the budget,

but not something thats too cheap that i might get problems

with the programs.

& is it a must to use pentium processors & motherboards??????

I don't know why but my IBM A20m notebook doesn't work with any kind of LPT based flasher. Seems like there is some kind of problem with the signal strength

@All

I have used now for over 3 years a IBM Thinkpad 600 PII 300 MHZ without any problems at all.

Recently I purchased a IBM Thinkpad 600x PII 500 MHZ, I run the following on this one under WIN2000 : Neelix III, UST Pro, Victor P2K and Se-Fighter. I have no problems at all on this notebook above software, got off ebay for 400 US !!!

Have you ensure the lpt port address is 378, as there have been problems with IBMs being set differently and the programs that need to be used have 378 as the address to look for.

Can be changed in Bios or in device manager-->ports-->lpt port

If u need anymore help PM me

In reply to the question, i am using packard bell 400mhz, 64mb ram, 6gb hdd, and a very small damn screen !! lol

Works fine (touch wood) up to now :D
