All mobile phone in DIGITAL system can be infected by this virus.
If you receive a phone call and your phone display 'UNAVAILABLE' on the screen
(for most of digital mobile phones with a function to display in-coming call telephone number),
DON'T ANSWER THE CALL. END THE CALL IMMEDIATELY!!!
BECAUSE IF YOU ANSWER THE CALL, YOUR PHONE WILL BE INFECTED BY THIS VIRUS.
This virus will erase all IMIE and IMSI information from both your phone and your SIM card which will make your phone unable to connect with the telephone network.
You will have to buy a new phone.
This information has been confirmed by both Motorola and Nokia.
There are over 3 million mobile phone being infected by this virus in USA now.

Hello,
I find this information a littlebit hard to believe, because I can't think of any way that the virus could be uploaded into the phone and by what protocol. I can relate to the fact that the IMEI will be erased from the phone because these numbers are kept on a know adress and can be changed! The IMSI however is a different story. This number is encrypted by a 128 bit security and cannot be cracked in any way. Let's keep in mind that everything is crackable, but I can't think of a universal key for a R5 coding.
IF this COULD be done and WATCHMAN seems to know about it. Let him tell us more about the function of the virus and the way it infects the phone.

Mr Prodent
Have you ever heared about SMS specification? And the header routing of this?
And what's with the phone book entrys, are the not on the eeprom?
What's about to change the imei and imsi with direct reading by wintesla?
is this not enough you have to think of it?
best regards
PS: you can infect the MS by call and by SMS
Hmm... If it can be true (?), anyway it is absolutley impossible to erase IMSI from SIM card. Virus can't write data to protected SIM files http://www.thoic.com/gsm/ubb/smile.gif
I think what virus on mobile - fiction.

Can't erase the imsi ?Don't forget the a3 a8 encrytion was cracked already.
Mr Norton wants to make more cash.....do not believe this okies....
This is a big jokes !!!
no virus in gsm phones.
they're called HOAX virus is not available.
OK.. it is possible according to GSM specifications TEORETICALY but WERY WERY hard to implement in practice...
But the thing that you talking about is NOT virus...Virus can infect someone and reproduct itself in new host then infect another host .....
if this thing make phone unusable i minds that infected phone can't infect another...
There is no indications there is your phone infected you can receive a virus every time your phone is ON
e.g.
police has a special devices that can listen what you are talking with your friend with cup of coffe and your phone is near you powered on of course...(light emiting antenas is wery useful thing in this case because you can see when your phone is transmitting..)
