These phone can power up OK. But are these LCD bad or the LCD inverter is bad? Replacing the LCD will make them work again?

Thanks.

Put a SIM inside and try make and receive call... if u can do it then obvously just the LCD is faulty.... otherwise the phone got more problems to be solved

Logical deduction isnt it ??

Muchas gracias! I was wondering if there are any tell-tale signs of lcd indicating whether it is dead. I saw quite many cell phones in auctions like the ones in the picture above.

If something else on the circuit board, like a IC, causes the lcd "discoloration", that would be too tough for me to troubleshoot. I am sure a lot of people on this board are in the same boat with me.

Any more comments are appreciated.

In those samsung models you must desolder lcd to change it, not so easy like in nokia or siemens phones. Think about it.

This is samsung SGH-R220.Unlike Nokia lcd which can b opened ecly by lifting d metal cap r motorola&sony ericson in which u just lift plastic lock &remove d lcd this 1 is removed by first disconnecting led by removing 6 patches of lead (3 each both sides)&then remove the flexible polythenetrack with d help of SMD station. The six lead dots give pwr 2 LEDs.
