Hi,
I need some help unlocking the A56i from Cingular. Its the North American Version of the A55. I had no problems earlier unlocking the A56 (the non "i" version) with the Siemens Toolbox Software but encountered a problem when I got the A56is. On the program it will sit on the bootloader and will not connect. I have however tried the A55 testpoint on the A56i and had much success with it, but the problem is that I have also killed 2 phones with that method. So I was wondering if there was another option for me to unlock this phone without using testpoint.. or is there another testpoint on the A55 that i dont have to use the cut the trace method. The software version is A56i version 3. Thanks!

After doing some more research, I found that there was an easier way to do the testpoint and having no more problems and its easy to unlock with FREIA. I woulda loved to find another solution but it seems these boards are new and I had an order of 300 to ship out.
After unlocking a few, I found that its just Siemens C56 software being flashed in A56s, and when u do unlock them.. the A56i banner gets removed and it starts showing up as a C56.. wierd but anyways its done!

Can you help me, I'm looking to unlock siemens a56i, and all I could find is your post on unlocking via testpoint. Can you please tell me what's the testpoint method that you aru using - I found couple of methods - cutting trace, connecting two pins, removing resistor... but I'm not sure which one to use. Any help is greatly appretiated. Thanks.

So did you have to choose C56 in FREIA to unlock the A56i. If not, could you please let me know how you unlocked it.

Sorry for the late reply, I have been busy with work and school. The way that I unlocked the A56i was using the C55 test point with the capacitor removal method then using freia to unlock (I picked A55 to unlock it). There should be a picture of what cap to remove on this board somewhere because thats where I got it. I found that cutting the A55 trace method was not as efficient and also you could kill your phone (I've killed about 5 out of 12 before I used the capacitor removal method). I hope that helps!

Do you need to remove the capacitor or can you just ground it?
What I did was moved the capacitor to the side so it would break the circuit, unlock the phone and do whatever I needed then move the capacitor back.. so the customer couldn't have access to the phone unless the customer knew about testpoint.

What cable are you using? I have the siemens original usb for a56i.
Also, I am new in this, please explain to me a little bit how this is done.
I opened phone, found the C55 capacitor(very small) WHAT DO I DO WITH IT?
Ground it to what? move it where? use a cable form where to where? Please someone explain in a simple way!

Use only aftermarket serial cables.

I have an AT&T A56i vers 2 software, n-box, and freiaufs2 software. N-Box hooks up to the computer via usb cable. Phone connects to N-Box.
Error message I am encountering:
