A international society for mobile-phores repairs professionals (ISCEMREP).
This is the objective of the society:
To promote GSM technology as a tool for development
To sensitize governments on the relevance of mobile phone engineers in the certification of handsets imported into their various countries.
To perform and promote rating of handsets manufactured .
To promote standardization and ensure compliance of mobile phone production.
To address and ensure issues of professionalism, integrity and excellence in phone repair business.
To promote the mobile phone security
To organize yearly conventions, annual general meetings and awards.
To organize monthly and quarterly training for its members to ensure professionalism.
To ensure yearly representation of the society in the annual GSM congress.

The GSM reparation industry is a development opportunity as it provides work, business and technical education for many people.
In my country (Algeria) a law project to prohibit GSM flashing is in preparation, we (as a GSM service center) are in contact with authorities to try to convince them that it's a part of the software maintenance. I think if we speak as representative of an international organization we have more credibility and more chances to convince them.
I think this is the vision.

What we need to make clear is that the ideology of unlocking is to promote a free market and to stop large network companies from preventing fair competition by trying to lock mobiles, it dose not hurt to make som mony by doing it.. Also at the same time denouncing the changing of IME numbers which is associated with criminal activity. I have looked at www.iscemrep.org. The dose not seen to be anything there.

This is a very good idea but in my opinion it would not be recognised
as any institute , especialy European countries
A: Usage of mobile phone software to repair and flash IS NOT LICENSED by Mobile phone manufacturers so therefore usage of software is violating licensing laws ,usage of software altered or modified would also be violating license laws.
Mobile phone manufacturers realy dont like 'people' like us using there software and GSM association based in Ireland does not want to recognise
this industry.
Also there are many new laws scheduled for the future and give police more
powers to carry out searches for possible mobile crime related issues in UK.
So if the police suspect that you are selling a software or hold any software that could be used for criminal purposes you will get raided...
Some guys in the UK tried this but the idea was rejected .
However this idea may be good for overseas countries where laws are 'relaxed' and members who meet the criteria could join.
This indusrty can ONLY be recognised if we are not violating Licensing laws and have permission to use 'flash files' etc.
U are right but it is still possible, dont forget computer,telecom, electronics engineering have institutes and they are surviving even computer engineering that has software programing aspect that is always violating the licensing laws over there and yet they are exsisting. I think if the home work is done very well, the exsistence would be suceesful.

Havent the police in the UK better things to do than pick on engineers that are tring to make an honist living eventhough they are not accredited. From what I see there are more important things like terorists, bankrobbers, drunkdriver, murderers who need to be locked up. The reason why the police is that the industry has lobiists in parliament if we could orgainse our seves perhaps they wouldnt bring in such srtict law. The UK certainally go to extreems I suppose they are trying to copy thire big brother the US.

@Ronker i think its a very unfair and a offensive statement to say Nigeria biggest export product is to swindle.
Such a society could be administrated from any location in the world or city , Nigeria or Netherlands ,there is good and bad everywhere and Iam sure you willl agree that the minority who do' bad' can give the majority a bad name.
As mentioned before though Abbugurus idea of a society is credible but it may struggle to be recognised by European states as every country will have its own regulations and Laws relating to Mobile communications and usage of software etc.
Therefore in my opinion steps for a international society though a good idea are premature, first you need to start from a regional society, attracting members in its own regions and have its own legal bodies that would protect its own local trade members very much similar to a trade union.If every region created its own organisation and the number of worlwide members increases.
Then every region like africa, asia, Usa ,europe could only merge together to form a international society.

we all rigth we need a society like this not would happen,what i think of is that our cost of repair should be hire and we should have a tax giving to the subscriber ,i think we do not have a problem with the phone manufactural we only have a problem with the SIM subscriber they are the one that is not happy with us because will unlock phone for novices,i think we should all make sure all over the world that unlocking of mobile phone should be hiring cose to unlock ,so we can also pay some monthly money to the subscriber ontill the promotion of the perticullar phone we over
