The area of mobile phone viruses is fast becoming fact rather than fiction with the first one announced on the 16th June. With this development, mobile phone security will become a much bigger field of research. A phone virus could easily be shown to wipe your contacts or SMS folder but does anyone know whether a virus could do any damage to the codes stored in the SIM card such as the Ki and the IMEI? If it could then it would render your SIM card useless. Is the area that these values are stored on the SIM card erasable or is it just readable? And where in the SIM card are the contacts and text messages held?

Any other ideas on mobile phone viruses are extremely welcome! ;)

thats the mobile phone virus i am talking about but what i want to know is could the SIM information be damaged by a virus or are the important codes stored on a section of the SIM that the actual phone cannot access to either write to or erase from?

Does anyone know anything about mobile phone viruses or weaknesses in phones operating system that could be exploited by a potential virus?

hi,

I have more experience in antivirus. he cabir isnīt a virus is a worn. Really, the Cabir is a ****. It uses the Bluetooth system to duplicate. You can easy blocket the virus if you donīt confirm the transmision and instalation. Only works to Symbian serie 60.

Itīs very complicated (impossible) that the people has contagiated with this worn.

You can (for example in symbian) to make a application (virus or not) to erase all data of the phone (phonebook, SMS, ect...) but you can not erase the Bios of the phone. This are like a normal computer. You canīt erase the IMEI....

For the moment, this isnīt a menace.

The antivirus companys use kind of news to sell more antivirus.....

Regards,
Sir Graham.
