Hi,
this is just a warning to those of you thinking of using the unlock procedure mentioned in many threads within this forum.
As you browse through the forum you will note many threads telling you how to unlock your phone with a *4960* code - dont aske me how to do this - just search the forums and you will find how people say to do it.
Some use any 8 digets in the code - some claim that they generate the numbers via a tool and your IMEI number (I have to say I have downloaded this 'tool' and to me it looks like a random number generator)
Anyhow, of this warning -
I unlocked my phone to a 2.5g Sim, using the details found within this forum, (I accept this was at my own risk and am not blaming anyone) but now can not use the orignial 3G SIM - Camera will not finction on 2G nor will MMS or WAP -
A big word of warning the 4960 code only works to some extent and it looks like you are stuck with a part functioning phone afterwards.
Posters within these forums claim you can unlock your phone back to the 3G card afterwards - I have not found this to be the case!!!
Like I said earlier - I am not trying to blame anyone and accept the risk I took - I just want all of those of you who are considering trying to unlock to a 2g card to understand the potential risk to your phones functions.
BTW - if anyone knows how I can unlock the SIM back to my 3g card please advise - repeating the 4960 function does not work
