ok ive just got a data cable from stewartsoftware.biz which included a disk, i have installed, uninstalled, part installed, everything and still nothing.
ive written on other forums for help but this is basically everything that has happened if anyone can enlighten me as to why it wont work.
the disk isnt an official one though its from a company called stewartsoftware so not sure if its the same one as the real copy but all the programs are all winrar
first, i connected the usb cable (without handset) then turned on my computer. i then plugged my handset in and then i opened the disk and went to a programme called n341i_gprsmodem. i clicked setup.exe in this which installed the GPRS wizard. after installation it said install drivers.
went to a programme called drivers_usb. in installed this which installs all the drivers needed for the programs on the disk. it told me to reboot which i did and then clicked on GPRS wizard, put in my "Connexion name" "username" and "password" this makes a new connection. it checks Com 1, Com 2 and Com 3 for connections but sadly still "no devices detected"
i did however notice a small icon in my quicktask bar when it reached Com 3. it looked like a red traffic lights but disappeared soon after.
I clicked the next program on the disk called NEC - and clicked nec.exe. this comes up with the message
"! Cannot execute "C:\DOCUME~1\Shelley\LOCALS~1\Temp\Rar$EX00.891\nec .exe"
i clicked the 3rd program on the disk called NEC Zonegsm V1 and opened it - this shows the Zonegsm Nec Code Reader V1. it shows a drop down box with Com 1 to 12 and two buttons saying read code and terminate. only coms 1 to 3 show signs of kinda working - at the bottom of the little window after i press Read code for these 3 coms, it says "press pwr" on this but still no progress.
program 4 - Nectalk.exe displays a MSdos window saying Trying Coms 1 to 3.
i have a read me file which has the information
This will currently read from internal files.
Interesting commands: "nectalk read 1 0" to see configuration data.
It may be possible to unlock NEC phones with "nectalk unlock", or if that
doesn't work "nectalk -pt unlock".
Careful, Using -t will hang the user interface.
next program on disk is NecWCDMA.exe which asks for a password and key. there is a readme file once agian saying
"password: askme"
of course ive tried this but doesnt work. think i will have to contact seller.
NECX is the next program. i click it and a window comes up with 8 coms and 4 buttons saying "unlock" "stop" "logging" and Write firmware" only unlock shows signs of working as the other 3 says "only for "Pro""
the next program is PIE3 which is the personal information editor. i clicked setup.exe and it installs fine but when i opened it and tried to upload a pic to my phone from my computer i get a message saying
"communication carried out the timeout (0x200B042AL)"
the final program on the disk is Test_point_e606_&_e806 which is just 2 JPG files.
on the disk there are other programs for other phones like motorola and nokia etc, and a utilities folder which is just Winrar, winzip, acrobat and remote unlock files (remote unlock has lots of different winrar files for sony etc.)
now when i try to access some files/folders on my computer a warning comes up saying
C\Documents&settings\localservices\desktop refers to a lcoation that is unavailable. it could be on this computer on on a network. check to make sure that the disk is properly inserted, and that you are connected to the internet or your network, and then try again. if it still can not be located, the information might have been moved to a different location
i have rebooted a couple of times but still this keeps appearing.
im on windows xp and ive been told this may interfere with installation, the guy whom sold me the item told me to rightclick a programme i want to use and go to properties and adjust the "compatibility" to Windows 95 or 98 to see if it works
if not then i was to install something called "userport" Which i have no idea what to do, ive followed the instructions included with it and added it to my drivers folder which is says to and when i try and click on a button it comes up
