What's meaning of GDFS?

I am a newbie here. Could somebody tell me how to spell GDFS,
and what meaning of GDFS is.

GDFS is global data system. in older SEMC phones gdfs contain all user data and system variables.

now, in new SEMC phones, gdfs only contains system security variables, calibration data, crypted IMEI, etc.etc,etc
