u have to build ur cable and download the soft m8. u can't unlock it only by imei

u can use the data cable given with the phone. if u have one it'll be OK. if not u must buy one because u can't use the charge connector to build the cable

what do i have to do for the program to show me all the com ports?. now there are 3 ports but not even one works...please help

ps: the display is yellow when i connect the cable without the battery

ok speedy, try this, when u say that you r runnig win 98 is that win 98 se or win 98me, you need one of these o/s. if you are running one of these then install all nec drivers to one folder, then connect any nec phone (616,616v,228,or 313) with power on and allow the drivers to load, then disconect the phone and remove battery, now reconnect the phone and open free nec prog. select phone model and un tick auto select then select comport. read phone, wait till it tells you to dissconnect the phone and enter the imei number, do this and then you will get the unlock codes.

FIRST OF ALL U GOT TO MODIFY THE CABLE HERE IS THE PICTURE OF IT THEN PLUG YOUR PHONE WITH THIS MODIFIED CABLE WITH NO BATTERY
A MESSAGE APPEARS ON THE PC A NEW HARDWARE FOUND INSTALL DRIVERS
DO NOT INSTALL THEM AUTOMATIC
CHOOSE THE OPTION TO INSTALL MNUALLY
SO BROWSE YOUR PC FOR THE FOLDER WHERE U DOWNLOADED THE DRIVERS
CHOOSE THE ONE FOR YOUR MODEL AND CHOOSE WIN2000 FROM THERE
PRESS NEXT AFTER BEING INSTALLED ONCE U WILL HAVE TO REPEAT THAT FOR FOUR TIMES
THEN OPEN YOUR UNLOCKING PROGRAM AND CHOOSE YOUR MODEL AND COMPORT WHICH IS OBEX PORT (CAN BE SEEN IN DEVICE MANAGER/PORTS)
AND PRESS READ THE CODES

drivers are ok
don't install automatic, install manually
for xp choose win2000
for 98 choose98
for 98 when it fails to find the drivers it also gives u an option at the bottom to instal for a different device. check that and press ok. once u have done that detect the hardware automatic
