Identifying SIM card manufacturer

Can the manufacturer of a SIM card be identified by looking at its contacts? I noticed that the contact layout of Gemplus cards look different than Schlumberger cards, which look different than some other cards. Is there a pictorial guide or some other reference that shows this?

u can't distinguish the manufactures using the layout of its contacts, because the contacts are designed by the chip-manufactures, maybe u can reference the ATR of the cards.
