Hi,
I have the SIM card reader supplied as part of the "Super SIM 16 in One" package. This is a basic serial port reader, compatible (I think) with the Phoenix reader.
I have been able to use software like CARDinal and Woron Scan with this reader with no problems.
Using the v7.00 software from the manufacturer (http://www.flash-storage.com/), I was able to find Ki for one of my SIM cards. That program does a brute force attack (I think). The later v7.01a software includes SIM Scan and runs it instead, the idea being that SIM Scan is better/faster.
However, SIM Scan doesn't work properly for me. When "Find Ki" is selected, SIM Scan usually runs a few iterations, then seems to lock up. The only way around that is if I remove the SIM card from the reader, wait until SIM Scan shows an error message, then reinsert it. Then a few more iterations are done before another lock up.
Also, if I try to exit SIM Scan while it is scanning, choosing Exit in the dialog box that appears does nothing; the program just continues.
My machine is quite old and slow (Pentium 1 75MHz, Windows 95 OSR2.5), but other SIM-reading programs seem to work okay.
Has anyone else had problems like these with SIM Scan?
