Thanks so much for the useful info on this site. I saw some pages back people were requesting PdaNet for a 700P. Did this every get posted or does someone have this? Thanks.

Don't think so, but USB modem got posted. Now I couldn't get it to work with the driver, so the company e-mailed me a new driver for the Treo 700p, and I just added it to the regular program.

Also too with USB modem, you don't have to have a program installed on the laptop like you did with PdaNet.

Anyway you can try this if you want.

I am using NesEm 1.9 Demo. It only lets me play the game for 5 minutes and kicks me off. It also won't take over a 40kb rom. Does anybody have the full version of this? Thanks.

Just got updated today for those of you using 5.46

This is just the TRIAL, so someone needs to patch it.

You should be able to install this over a previously registered version and it will remain registered. Assuming that a keygen was used to generate your serial numbers and you are not using a patched version.

Alternatively, you can open Volumecare on your device, disable it, then go to the menu to "check for updates". It will open your browser and you can download the update to the device. Again, it should remain registered. Then go back in and enable the program.

That isn't much more specific. You did not state which program you are referring to and you did not quote the previous post. One would have to go back through 100 pages to find the post you are replying to.

If you use the "quote" feature in the post you are replying to it will copy it into your reply.

I talked to sprint a while ago and I dont remember everything she told me. But the price she mentioned was ridiculous. Not sure why you havent been charged but consider yourself blessed. Data plans are overpriced and for those who do have to sign up for a data plan, this hack should work. the whole thread I linked explains the benefit ;)

Yes, it turns off the "tethered bit". But as far as I understood it USB modem does as well, so it should have the same effect.

I could have sworn I had read that. I can't find a link now though. If anyone knows more please let us know!

The way I understood it USB modem doesn't actually initiate a "tethered" connection because the app pretends to be just a regular palm app. I'd really like to know if I am wrong.

Can anyone offer detail on how to install TomTom (5 or 6) on the PalmOS?
I have a Treo 700p and a 2GB SD card. I also have:
- a slight clue what I'm doing, just not completely
- all the "appropriate" files for installing this
- the maps I need
- the ability to get my own serial for the .mid map file through the keygen

Throughout this thread and other posts on this board I have found tidbits of info on how to install this app, but its either not enough info or specifically for another smartphone or pda.

I'm "almost" there, but I cannot get the application to start correctly. I need to get that far before I can get my Device ID for the map keygen.

I don't think I have the file structure correctly on the SD card, or something to that effect. So any advice on the actuall installation of TomTom on the Treo would be greatly appreciated !!!

Haven't tried this yet. It isn't the newest version (4.2) but it is the first version which allowed syncronization with Outlook 2007 (4.0). Now that MSO'07 has been released, I hope Palm gets out an update so that a 3rd party solution isn't necessary. Of course, as much as I love the toys they've given me, I can't say their track record on issues like this is a good one.

I was browsing my sd card deleting games and stuff I dont use, and when I went into the other catagories, the zlauncher shortcuts were still there,, I would click them but it would tell me that the file could not be found... Duh I deleted it..
Since I have tons of shortcuts I went through zlaucher menus and found and option "update all shortcuts", i clicked it and nothing seemed to happen,, dead shortcuts were still there.. so i click "refresh apps" right under "update shortcuts" and EVERYTHING on my SD card is GONE.
At first I thought I hit the wrong option with my stylus, since I do that sometimes.. but the only other option on that menu was "delete all shortcuts".
This should not of deleted my sd/palm/launcher contents should it?
So, good thing is that I only have a few entries since my last hotsync, and am wondering if someone has a link to a HOW-TO restore my treo 650 from a hotsync?

Recovering your data after a hard reset

After you perform a hard reset, all your handheld's data is deleted (how to do a hard reset).

If you have been performing regular HotSync operations, your personal data and applications have been backed up on your desktop computer, in your user folder (info about user folder). You can restore this data to your handheld by performing the steps below.

HotSync note: Some third-party applications change the way your handheld backs up data. Other third-party applications do not back up data. If you have third-party software on your device, please contact the developer to learn what components are backed up during a HotSync operation, and if HotSync conduits are altered. Any data not backed up will be lost.

Since all data was erased by the hard reset, first perform a HotSync operation with your desktop computer to restore the backed-up data.

Make sure your conduits are turned to "Synchronize the files" or "Desktop overwrites handheld." Do not turn conduits to "handheld overwrites desktop." This will erase data on your desktop computer, and you won't be able to transfer it to your handheld.
*

Note: Data restoration may take some time. The HotSync operation will be faster with a USB connection, slower with a serial or IR connection. You won't be able to perform a network HotSync connection until you have performed at least one successful 'local' HotSync via USB, Serial or IR.

Is it taking a very long time? If you had a lot of large files or third-party applications on your handheld (high-resolution photos, big databases, native Word or Excel files), the HotSync conduits will try to restore all these large files during synchronization. This could be a lengthy process. Be prepared to wait several minutes for each conduit to do its work.

While we encourage users to take advantage of the thousands of third-party titles available, we cannot guarantee that the third-party software will be compatible. The HotSync operation restores your preferences for display, menus, auto-off, and other functions. However, if there are other preferences (such as those set within third-party applications) that haven't been restored, now is the time to do so manually. Refer to the third-party software documentation for instructions.

Tungsten T5 only: Your handheld includes both Program Memory and an Internal Drive. When you perform a HotSync operation, items in your Program Memory are restored. However, any items on the Internal Drive will need to be restored manually (unless you've specifically set them to be backed up and restored during synchronization.) To restore Internal Drive items:

* Windows: Keep your handheld connected to your PC and open the Palm File Transfer application. In File Transfer, click "Copy Files to PC" or "Copy Folder from PC." Browse the files that were saved from the handheld, and click Open. Then click Refresh. On your handheld, launch the Files application to ensure the files have been copied successfully.
* Mac: Keep your handheld connected to your Mac, and launch Drive Mode. On your Mac, navigate to the original Mac hard drive locations of the files that you had copied to your Internal Drive. Transfer the files back to your handheld through Drive Mode. There is no automatic backup location for these files when you transfer them to your Internal Drive; therefore, in the future, you may wish occasionally to open Drive Mode and copy the contents of your Internal Drive to your Mac, manually backing up these files in one convenient place.

Yeah, this was pretty confusing for me too at first. In the end, it turns out to be pretty simple.

SD:\TomTom\
This folder will contain Munich.bin, data.chk, and usually at least one voice (data##.chk & data##.vif).

SD:\TomTom\SdkFileCalls\
This might be autogenerated and might contain '.finished' & '.message' files (very small, 8 & 4 bytes respectively).

SD:\Voices\
This will contain your voices. Each voice has 2 or 3 files associated with it (.chk & .vif are required, may also have a .bmp). These files all go directly into this directory, not sorted into their own directories.

SD:\Palm\
This is autogenerated by PalmOS and TomTom may put a 'start.prc' file here which will autostart TomTom when the card is inserted. It is optional, so if you dislike this behavior, delete the file.

SD:\Palm\Launcher\
Also autogenerated by PalmOS. TomTom may install 'cn.prc' (Contacts Navigator) and 'nav.prc' (Navigator) which can be deleted if you have installed them into RAM.

SD:\itn\
I believe this directory is generated by TomTom to store your current itinerary. Anyway, mine contains a 0 byte 'temporary.iti' file.

SD:\*MAP_NAME*\
Unlike voice files, each map goes in its own directory in the root of the SD card. Each map folder will have several files in it including 'CLINE.DAT' and *MAP_NAME*.MID. For example, if you have a map of Botswana, it would be in SD:\Botswana-Map\ and it would contain several '.DAT' files, a 'Botswana.MID' file, a 'Botswana.pna' file, and maybe a 'Traffic.INC' file.

it shows the applications on the sd card but all the shortcuts are dead still.
only thing I care about is my calender. I have made a backup of my entire C/palmone folder.
is there a way to do a hard reset and somehow sync my calender into the clean treo? I NEED my calendar BADLY,, it has my service calls in it for billing.

Well, I keep trying to read the tutorial posted here but I just can't seem to find the logic behind the steps. I still think my brain is shutting down because of the big red X's in the pictures for some reason. I guess you have to have some sort of programming knowledge with that stuff or something, because I am very knowledgeable when it comes to computers, but I'm more of a web programming person.

yes,, I went there and tried to copy all that to my card with the same crappy rusult..
I did find an export function on the palm desktop,, I think that will save my @$$. I exported my calender, tasks, memos.

Before this problem, when I would navigate to my sd card with zlauncher or the palm launcher it would take about 15 seconds to get into it.. is that odd?

It is my understanding that there are technical limitations that prevent the phone from actually being used as an answering machine... but that might only be for WM devices.

This program (http://www.palmgear.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=software.showsoftware&prodID=56410) has an auto answer feature... and there are several phone call recording programs (mVoice, callRec)... maybe an overly-complicated mixture of 3rd party apps could provide you with a solution? If you can make something work, let us know so we can patch'em.

I mean this with genuine curiousity, not as a harsh skeptic, but what kind of virii threaten the PalmOS? I dont think I've ever heard of anyone getting a Palm virus.

There is a PDA version of Avast AV available here (http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-pda.html). It's 19.95$ per year... which is more than I pay for the antivirus solutions of three desktop computers at my home.

DOH!!!

I did something today and I need to fix it..
I was browsing my sd card deleting games and stuff I dont use, and when I went into the other catagories, the zlauncher shortcuts were still there,, I would click them but it would tell me that the file could not be found... Duh I deleted it..
Since I have tons of shortcuts I went through zlaucher menus and found and option "update all shortcuts", i clicked it and nothing seemed to happen,, dead shortcuts were still there.. so i click "refresh apps" right under "update shortcuts" and EVERYTHING on my SD card is GONE.
At first I thought I hit the wrong option with my stylus, since I do that sometimes.. but the only other option on that menu was "delete all shortcuts".

I had a similar problem, when installing on the Treo 650.
You have to find "start.prc" which does not automatically appear in the launcher window. Browse for it with a file browser. I am using the one built into Zlauncher. Usually you find "start.prc" on the card under \palm or under \palm\launcher.
Then launch the file, and Tomtom should start.
Hope it works...

I used to struggle with the same problem.
Then I discovered the excellent application "resco backup", which stores all your RAM data to the SD-card. When your Palm crashes completely, (or you do something stupid), and it will when you are experimenting installing patched software, you just reload the backup, it's a matter of minutes. Works like a charm :-)

Well, I keep trying to read the tutorial posted here but I just can't seem to find the logic behind the steps. I still think my brain is shutting down because of the big red X's in the pictures for some reason. This folder will contain Munich.bin, data.chk, and usually at least one voice (data##.chk & data##.vif).

Have you tried VoiceDial? It sounds like a good program but I couldn't get it to recognize a single name on my contact list. It was good at identifying numbers though. I'd say you are better off with a program that requires a little voice training.

True, it does notify you, BUT for $3 a month just to check a few e-mails on yahoo I don't think its worth it. I don't even do that for hotmail. I will have forwarding for my business once I get that set-up and have chatter enabled cause I want to be on top of that, but here is what I do...

I use the sharklinks program I mentioned pages back, set the web addy to wap.oa.yahoo.com, and the its a small incon in my favorites.

Click it, it opens yahoo mail right away, type in info and bam. Takes about 1 minute, and I saved $3 a month.

If your going to spend that much, i'd almost suggest going the route of Yahoo PREMIUM for under $2 a month and then using chatter or something.

Not only will you be able to forward and get alerts, you also get MORE out of your yahoo account.

Dang, i'm not getting that. Just the pic I posted. Something just isn't working right. I'm gonna try and restore to a previous day when it wasn't on there and then re-installing again.

I followed the instructions and it didn't say to install the libreg at first, so it was only 4 out of the 5 to install.

I'f I don't have any luck again i'll see what they say and why my screen is showing that. Just tell them i've thought about buying after the trial, but if I can't register no way I would buy :D

Ok, I deleted all the files, and reloaded the program from a different website, and now I get to the screen with something, but it is on the main application, and not the Reg program.

Did you enter anything into this screen??

I usually just try to make the program accept any serial by making it jump to sucessful registration unconditionally. if there's a nag screen there then it only helps me find the spot where to patch it. once you register, it should take those screens away. if not then i guess you gotta take them out. not sure how to explain it really. im still new to this stuff :) i hope im makin sense?

Install the trial app, then install the keygen prc, and run, your real serial appears, then device will reset.

So does that mean to do this all you have to do is find the parts where it says "Incorrect serial", delete them, and then just have it progress through normally so anything you put in will grant access?

What are the limitations of the unregistered version? What changes occur after you successfully register? This will greatly help w/ patching.

Yeah, I use that now. Very slow. After I tried the Gmail mail app for the palm I was hooked. Faster then the web and even faster than versamail.

I am still interested in trying out Yahoo's thick mail client for the Palm.

Does this seem to be working for everyone?? Like I said, I had no way to test it while patching it. It is made to run only on Treos and when I circumvented the Treo-Check, it crashed the Palm Simulator (so I wasn't actually willing to try it on my LifeDrive). Well... the patch just seemed too obvious, too easy... just too good to be true. So, I'd really appreciate some feedback.

Hey skibum, to get a HotSync ID in the Palm Simulator, I use MultiUserHack (posted elsewhere in this thread). There may be a better solution, but this one works fine. I usually do this to run any keygen for two reasons: 1) in case it is actually an evil file that would damage my baby... er... I mean my lifedrive & 2) in case the program i am ripping off is aware of the keygen on my palm (i.e. pocketunes).

It is also sometimes useful when testing out a patched app one is working on. Some programs won't open their registration form (or wont run at all) if they don't detect a HotSync Name.

Voice call will be much better as you can do more than dial contacts with voice. MP3 and programs too.

Only problem is that I have yet to get it to work. As in a full version or serial, etc. I'm waiting to see if anyone has gotten it to work yet. Keep an eye out, and if so, I suggest that one.

I followed these directions with the utmost precision (!), however I'm still getting errors. The app tried to launch/install when I first inserted the card. The TomTom logo came up, and then the Treo rebooted itself. Now the "Navigator" logo for TomTom shows in my applications, but everytime I launch it, the logo appears and the phone crashes and reboots.

Could I be forgetting anything? Is anyone here actually running TomTom 6 on a Treo 700p ?

Hey skibum, to get a HotSync ID in the Palm Simulator, I use MultiUserHack (posted elsewhere in this thread). There may be a better solution, but this one works fine. I usually do this to run any keygen for two reasons: 1) in case it is actually an evil file that would damage my baby... er... I mean my lifedrive & 2) in case the program i am ripping off is aware of the keygen on my palm (i.e. pocketunes).

It is also sometimes useful when testing out a patched app one is working on. Some programs won't open their registration form (or wont run at all) if they don't detect a HotSync Name.

OK this is frustrating. With the help of iamajd, I was finally able to get this VoiceCall v1.2 keygen to work on my Palm Simulator. I install the keygen, it gives me a serial; I install the clean app, register it and it accepts it. Great right? Except that it only seems to work on the sim, not on my Treo. :mad: If I try the keygen on the Treo, I get a bogus serial. If I try to register the clean app on my Treo with the serial that I generated on the Sim, it won't accept it. I hereby, leave this in the capable hands of others on this forum. Below is a link to the keygen in case others have better luck than I did on their devices.

Install the five files in the zip, but use the patched voicecall.prc, rather than the original version. After Hotsync, Palm will ask for reboot. After re-boot launch app and enter any serial; your actual serial will pop up.

Install unpatched app and register. My serial took the form of XXXX-XXXX-XXXXX. Good luck.

Have you been using Tomtom before on your device?
Then there might be two vesions of "start.prc"
This happened to me, and my Tre650 crashed when launching it.
So find the newest and launch that one...

well not necessarily "delete" them but sometimes you can make the app skip over that validation process I guess you can say. sometimes by using a No Operation code (4E71) and sometimes using a Branch code (I seem to use 60 a lot which means Branch which is unconditional). thats just the simplest way to do it, but some apps havent been that easy.

I like to start by searching for the address where the Invalid Serial screen is called. If you can find that address, then you can trace it back to see exactly why that alert/form was called. Once you think you found the reason, you can try your patch there. a lot of trial and error really.

This program works on the newest version of mVoice 5.01. It is a bit complicated so follow these steps.
1. Install the demo
2. Install the patched file in the rar (not the unpatched file)
3. Start mLicense
4. Enter in a 5 digit numeric code (remember it)
5. Do NOT connect to the internet
6. click 'Register Manually'
7. Do not enter a code but click 'done' (i think it said done?'
8. You will see a code pop up. This is not your code.
9. Keep clicking until you get to the 20th code.
10. Write down the first 8 digits of the 20th code
11. Install the file from the .rar that is not patched.
12. Start mLicense
13. Enter in the same 5 digit code as you did in #4
14. Do NOT connect to the internet
15. Register manually
16. Enter in the code you wrote in step 10.
17. Done

Is there something out there that will allow me to print via Wifi, InfraRed, or Blue tooth. I looked into Printboy but you need to also install drivers for the printer you are going to print things on. So if I travel I am not going to know what printers are going to be at the locations I want to print to. All I'm looking for is something that will print to anything without too much drivers for printer etc...........

This is the serial number that gets generated on The simulator: Q3A8-8WVS-YG8RF. I just noticed that the same number gets generated regardless of the username in MUH. It does register the program on the sim though.

Thanks. I suppose I'll try that tutorial again but I doubt I'll get decent at this any time soon. I tried running a volleyball game on the emulator and it kept crashing the emulator so I didn't get to see anything about the nag screen. I still wish there was a more up to date version of a tutorial floating around somewhere. I can only find two.

I am in awe of your prowess ! I noticed that someone a few posst back was asking about good arm disassemblers. I belive that IDa pro has arm support and should be available from any well known torrent site...
I have one request. I am an avid user of Roboform for the PC , however I have not been able to find anywhere a crack for the palm adapter. The adapter installs as a 30 day trial . I am attaching the prc incase anybody wants to take a crack at it... This is a really cool software for filling in online forms and with the palm adapter your passwords etc can travel safely when you need to log in on another machine than your own...

Although I believe some/most of these have been posted before, here are some foreign dictionaries for MSDict... German, Spanish, Italian, and French to English and back. Also included is MSDict, though a newer version may be posted somewhere.

Does this seem to be working for everyone?? Like I said, I had no way to test it while patching it. It is made to run only on Treos and when I circumvented the Treo-Check, it crashed the Palm Simulator (so I wasn't actually willing to try it on my LifeDrive). Well... the patch just seemed too obvious, too easy... just too good to be true. So, I'd really appreciate some feedback.

I am just pissed at Opera cause I can't do a virtual keyboard. How do you type certain characters when you can't pop up a keyboard in the browser?

They put this feed option on, and its pretty much worthless as you have to GO to the feed instead of just input it in. And for instance if it has a _ (underscore in the web addy) good luck cause you can't type it in since you can't pop up a keyboard.

I do wish there will only be one main browser someday. I'm hoping its Universe, but it is STILL beta. So we'll see.

Please let us know if you've gotten it to work on your device, and WHAT device your using. (I mean this for anyone)

I am in awe of your prowess ! I noticed that someone a few posst back was asking about good arm disassemblers. I belive that IDa pro has arm support and should be available from any well known torrent site...
I have one request. I am an avid user of Roboform for the PC , however I have not been able to find anywhere a crack for the palm adapter. The adapter installs as a 30 day trial . I am attaching the prc incase anybody wants to take a crack at it... This is a really cool software for filling in online forms and with the palm adapter your passwords etc can travel safely when you need to log in on another machine than your own...

First off, I really appreciate the compliment of being singled out, recognized, and bundled with wheeliestunt. However, I assure you, wheelie is far ahead of me in the skill department. Anyway, the program you requested is another one that I am unable to test (I dont have any Roboform Windows data synced to the PalmSimulator). However, I am pretty sure I created a working patch. Please test the attached file and REPORT BACK TO ME so I know if it works or if it needs more 'touching up' (or I will never try to patch any of your requests every again... new rule!). :)

i actually didnt even try to patch that because I could not test it out. i couldnt get past the please syncronize screen. i looked at it though but not for long. glad you could do something with it

Yep... its the option that says "Search This Thread" a little lower than the "Search" function... see the attached screenshot.

:confused: Can Anyone tell me if this is truely the registered version? I am not sure if all functions are available with this patched version. I patched it and I got it to say the copy is registered. But wanted to make sure it unlocked all functionality. Im assuming it did, but I just dont know. Please if you download this app let me know if you have any problems using all functions.

Huh, that's weird because I did search this thread before I posted and the only thing that came up was page 1 with megalauncher...Then I searched again after you said that just to make sure and now my last 2 posts come up plus page 1. Could you please show me where it's at? Here's my search
