Guys, I'm pulling my hair out. What's working for EVERYONE else just will not work for me, period, and its driving me crazy!

I've followed all instructions from many threads on many forums out there to try to install either TomTom 5 or TomTom 6 (separately of course), and they both crash my Treo 700p. Instantly.

I've hard reset my phone 6 or 7 times now, to reinstall from scratch. And I've reformatted my SD card a dozen times with the Palm.

It doesn't matter what I do, everytime I launch the navigator or "start.prc" it crashes my 700p instantly. I entered the ##377# code to see what caused the last crash, and all it tells me is "Fatal Error". I tried using CrashPro (provided in this thread), but ironically enough the registration and settings of this app get reset everytime my phone crashes, so it cannot record the details of what is happening to cause the crash.

This is really killing my morale over my (fairly) new phone, as I bought the 700p counting on TomTom as a staple app. I have been enjoying so many of the other countless apps and games posted in this thread, but now I feel that I can't enjoy any of them right now because I'm going to have to keep hard resetting my phone.

How come I have the only phone that this app will not install on?! Is there something wrong with my phone? Something that a hard reset and perfectly formatted and functional SD card can't seem to fix?

My 2gb SD card is not "fully" compatible with the 700p. It was working for almost everything, but apparently was the cause of several apps crashing. Not that that's a good thing, but I'm so happy now just to have found the solution to my week-long dilemma. As a last resort before returning or trading out the phone, I decided to try out a friend's SD card to see if it worked differently. It worked perfect! TomTom6 booted right up, and setting up the maps (with the keygen) was a sinch. I'm so happy.

Now I can go back to enjoying the bountiful feast of games and apps throughout this amazing thread :)

The developer said you need to install Voicelibreg and that's where you enter the information.

Well.... in my case it won't allow for the entering of a serial.

Everything is legit as it was bought at the Sprint store, and its all there, but nothing in the program. I'll wait and see what the developer has to say.

Well as you all may know UDMH is kind of unbeatable, uncrackable, well it has to be bought.... Now, there's a way of getting it to work all of the time and not just during the trial by removing some preference (I'm too lazy to try that every two weeks...and what if I forget?). I just found this software that removes the preference by it self....All you have to do is select the preference you want to be erased and the program will do the rest. This is the apps preference list:

Speaking of tomtom... I have it working on my treo 700p, but I haven't bought a gps receiver yet. I wanted to make sure the software worked first, and it does seem to work very nicely. The lil demo think you can do is really cool.

So now I'm looking for a gps receiver... I can't really decide what to get though. I'm not normally cheap, but I just bought christmas presents and what not, so now cheap is good.

There is a keygen here for Callrec that works great (Post 718). That should solve your MUH dilema. :)

if u are stating the above because of reset emulator that was posted i just want to let u know that docstogo also resets my treo 700p when i perform that test, just skip that one and move on, rom based applications arent going to cause any issues and only way to remove is to reflash your ROM which is a whole other issue in which u have to know what u are doing, i read about it but never went into it, i would love to get rid of versamail as well being that with the sprint ones it reinstalls all the files again after a soft reset even though u delete most of the mm files and asc3

Since we've touched on the topic of Palm E-Book Readers a little lately, I'd like to add in my two-cents. PalmFiction (http://sourceforge.net/projects/palmfiction/) is an excellent, FREE, OPEN-SOURCE e-reader. The only draw back for me is that it creates a lot of files... so I run it through LinkStart (which slows down loading it, but if I'm going to be reading on that little screen, I am obviously in no hurry and just looking to kill some time!). You can easily customize which file extensions it opens and I believe it will open .zip files too. It is also skinnable which some folks enjoy and can use non-system fonts.

JackFlash & JackSprat, but the may not be compatible with your device. My TungstenC has none of the original software in it's ROM thanks to those Jack's....I posted them some time ago, just search for 'em....

He means ROM apps, those can't be deleted by traditional means. With Jack Sprat I got about 10MB of extra ROM space...That's priceless :D

I'm sure that one will work great. I bought mine earlier this year off of ebay. It was a cheap-o from the UK (but it included a US-UK power adapter). I figured I was going to mostly use it in the car anyway and it included the car adapter. At first I was having a lot of problems keeping it connected when using Mapopolis. Since changing over to TomTom5, I haven't had any problems. Well... I was recently in Southern Texas and it kept placing me about 20ft off the road... who knows if that was the receiver or TomTom though. Here (http://cgi.ebay.com/Nemerix-Bluetooth-GPS-Receiver-16-Channel-Free-Holder_W0QQitemZ130053550713QQihZ003QQcategoryZ466 8QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item130053550713)is another of the same model on ebay. Anyway, to make an unnecessarily long story short: cheap GPS works fine by me. And I am pretty sure most devices can have multiple BT connections... but don't quote me on that.

I tried this "Nweb" and it does not work on a TX. I get a msg - Incompatible Device - This version of the application does not run on this device. There is an "OK" button and then it exits if you press it.....

I think this programs works only on a T3???

There is no ROM update tool for the 700p yet.

Thanks! That clears up a lot. I'm usually the type that will be very very picky about electronics, and will stress over every little specification etc, but with the gps receivers I don't know what any of the specs mean. It makes it kind of hard to know if a cheap one is going to work ok, so I was a bit worried. I assume that pretty much any gps receiver will work for driving though.

I guess I'll find out more when I end up buying one.

No, the patch doesn't let you pass the 7 day limitation, but as I said the serial works....

What I was referring to is that one of the main functions of the program is that it performs OTA weather updates, currency exchange updates, real time flight information and status, satellite images, etc. Those functions are updated wirelessly during the trial period, the stop after 30 days.

Without the wireless update functionality, it is nothing more than a $75 palm clock.

Since we've touched on the topic of Palm E-Book Readers a little lately, I'd like to add in my two-cents. PalmFiction (http://sourceforge.net/projects/palmfiction/) is an excellent, FREE, OPEN-SOURCE e-reader. The only draw back for me is that it creates a lot of files... so I run it through LinkStart (which slows down loading it, but if I'm going to be reading on that little screen, I am obviously in no hurry and just looking to kill some time!). You can easily customize which file extensions it opens and I believe it will open .zip files too. It is also skinnable which some folks enjoy and can use non-system fonts.

Thanks! That clears up a lot. I'm usually the type that will be very very picky about electronics, and will stress over every little specification etc, but with the gps receivers I don't know what any of the specs mean. It makes it kind of hard to know if a cheap one is going to work ok, so I was a bit worried. I assume that pretty much any gps receiver will work for driving though.

I guess I'll find out more when I end up buying one.

I never had a navigation gps, but I have had a couple of fleet tracking units I used for my business. I do know that the more satalites the gps reciever can track the more accurate.. I would read the specs and see if you can find any info on how accurate the units are.
Example, I have one now that sees 14 sats max and the thing is usually a few hundred feet off when I use google earth with it.. Not good IMHO. So the more sats the better the accuracy..
Also, if the unit you look at highlights how accurate it is, I would trust more than the ones that dont say and wont list something in the specs...ramble ramble ramble and then ramble ramble

I found this program very useful with my Treo 650. It is not really necessary with the 700p, as the phone automatically powers up after a reset.

PowerUp is a quick utility that will make sure your Treo's phone is powered up after a reset. It does a check after reset to see if the phone was powered up by the OS before it performs the power up. PowerUp now also allows you to launch your favorite program when you Power On your Treo.

I had never heard of LinkStart until this forum. I was always an avid PowerRUN user. So much so that I patched the newest PowerRUN since the previously patched version wasn't LifeDrive compatible. After I posted it, someone recommended LinkStart. I gave it a try and eventually prefered it. I don't remember why. It is a little smaller, has (in my opinion) a nicer interface, and you can remove the '*' from the shortcut's name. I honestly don't think those are the reasons I chose it over PowerRUN... but I'm not really sure anymore. Anyway, version 2.2 Pro is posted in this forum a couple of months back. No one has version 2.3 Pro yet.

And now you get to reply to this and up your Post Count more... lol.

Hey, no prob. You are very welcome. I forgot that there was an issue between the Treo 650 and LinkStart 2.2. You can always use the free version of LinkStart 2.3 until someone patches 2.3 pro. This page (http://www.vistabug.com/linkstart/) has more info and the download link.

Right, thats for the OLD version of MUH. The zip also includes the lastest version (4.10) for OS5. It is a stand alone program that doesn't need any Hack handler.

You can go here and use the tool to move to CARD, but I don't think it will uninstall it. Most the time Docs to go is in RAM and not ROM. So I don't have those files hogging up my treo. They are all on the card to save about 4-5mb.

In docs to go 9 there is an option to do that. But the tech tool has a few more useful things that aren't built in.

if u are stating the above because of reset emulator that was posted i just want to let u know that docstogo also resets my treo 700p when i perform that test, just skip that one and move on, rom based applications arent going to cause any issues and only way to remove is to reflash your ROM which is a whole other issue in which u have to know what u are doing, i read about it but never went into it, i would love to get rid of versamail as well being that with the sprint ones it reinstalls all the files again after a soft reset even though u delete most of the mm files and asc3

Problem again is that if you do this, then they pop right back up when you hotsync, so you have to delete them from the palm folder as well. These are VERSAMAIL FILES AND IF YOU USE THIS, DO NOT DELETE THESE FILES PEOPLE.

Also too, you have browser history, you have files from Worldmate that get stored on there if you use it, that you should delete, etc etc.

It is VERY hard to figure out what needs to be on there and what doesn't, but with enough browsing and studying, you can figure it out.

I always clean stuff on a day to day basis cause it gets full. I clear j9 files (not all of them) I clear worldmate files, I clear blazer files, etc.

It just takes time.

And some things can't be delelted unless you get a custom ROM tool. Like Real Player. Never use it, and don't need it. Versamail either. Can delete some files, but some you can't.

I have a 700p and have about 10mb left of my device, and I have it LOADED with stuff. I just make sure I manage my device.

JackFlash & JackSprat, but the may not be compatible with your device. My TungstenC has none of the original software in it's ROM thanks to those Jack's....I posted them some time ago, just search for 'em....



He means ROM apps, those can't be deleted by traditional means. With Jack Sprat I got about 10MB of extra ROM space...That's priceless

I'm noticing some reset issues on my 700p.

I'm have both CrashPro and ResetDoctor installed and registered, and enabled. But anytime my phone does a soft reset, or in the rare occasion that it crashes, all my apps preferences are also reset. For example, ZLauncher is no longer my default launcher, CrashPro and ResetDoctor are NOT enabled (which defeats the purpose of crash logging!), UDMH is not enabled, etc, and sometimes my touchscreen has to be recalibrated.

I even do a Auto Backup of preferences with ResetDoctor and it doesn't remember them!

Is anyone else seeing this issue? What could be causing these issues?

Well as you all may know UDMH is kind of unbeatable, uncrackable, well it has to be bought.... Now, there's a way of getting it to work all of the time and not just during the trial by removing some preference (I'm too lazy to try that every two weeks...and what if I forget?). I just found this software that removes the preference by it self....All you have to do is select the preference you want to be erased and the program will do the rest. This is the apps preference list:

I setup LinkStart a couple days ago, and have successfully setup several apps/games to run off my SD card.

I have a question about this though. How is doing this any different from putting the app/game on the card anyway, and using ZLauncher to setup a shortcut to it?

I know there are very specific settings you can tweak in LinkStart (such as not copying any cache back over to the card after closing an app), but I get much quicker performance by using a shortcut to the app on the card than setting it up with LinkStart.

from what i was told, when u install a game for example to sd card, when u play, sound dbs and other parts of program are sent to internal RAM and when u exit program, all that stays on the internal ram, with link start, all other files that are created when launching a program are brought back to sd card, nothing stays on internal ram,,,, run program a few times then after that use linkstart to move all DBs over to SD card

I know this probably cant be answered since every app is different, but i need some help with patching.

I have this app I patched and it will reg with any serial. Now my issue is getting the app to remember that it is registered! When I leave the program then open it back up, it asks for a reg code again. There is a 14 day trial period and I searched for the address where the Trial Period screen comes up, but theres nowhere to patch around that area. And I dont have 14 days to wait and see what happens next.

Is there anything I may be overlooking? Like I said, I know this is probably a crazy question but if anyone could help it would be great. Like I said, I patched it so you can register with any serial. Im sure its registered because it says so, but Im not sure if it stays registered after exiting the program.

Then I asked why if 650s are gone, and if it partially works as it has on mine since I called a contact with voice call, why can't you support it?

Lack of laziness or what? Someone has a great program going, but what happens when OLD Treos are gone? They won't sell any apps.

Kind of stupid if you ask me, so i'm awaiting his response on why this is since the 700 has been out for a year, and people like Rob who does Butler and such update non-stop to make sure things work with all new devices. Did this with the 700 and is doing it with the 680. He's on top of his game cause my guess is he wants to stay in business, and if you don't have products that work with newer devices, how do you stay in business?

That's all the app does -- remove the preferences data so you get an unlimited trial. It doesn't crack or patch the app in any way. It will always remain in trial mode.

TELENAV has recently (and finally!) released its GPS software for Palm, and specifically the Treo 650,700p,700wx,680. It might be too soon, but has anyone tried this out yet, or seen it "available" ?

I have this app I patched and it will reg with any serial. Now my issue is getting the app to remember that it is registered! When I leave the program then open it back up, it asks for a reg code again. There is a 14 day trial period and I searched for the address where the Trial Period screen comes up, but theres nowhere to patch around that area. And I dont have 14 days to wait and see what happens next.

Is there anything I may be overlooking? Like I said, I know this is probably a crazy question but if anyone could help it would be great. Italiangspot.... The developer of voicecall if it was the developer said that there will be no support for newer Treos.

Then I asked why if 650s are gone, and if it partially works as it has on mine since I called a contact with voice call, why can't you support it?

Lack of laziness or what? Someone has a great program going, but what happens when OLD Treos are gone? They won't sell any apps.

Kind of stupid if you ask me, so i'm awaiting his response on why this is since the 700 has been out for a year, and people like Rob who does Butler and such update non-stop to make sure things work with all new devices. Did this with the 700 and is doing it with the 680. He's on top of his game cause my guess is he wants to stay in business, and if you don't have products that work with newer devices, how do you stay in business?

it's not that we dont want to. we dont use our own voice library and use a 3rd party lib and we have legal issue with them. they have terminated our developer agreement to use their library because voice call directly competes with their app. To make the long story short. They did not give us any notice and just terminated our contract and thus we can not generate license keys.

Speaking of tomtom... I have it working on my treo 700p, but I haven't bought a gps receiver yet. I wanted to make sure the software worked first, and it does seem to work very nicely. The lil demo think you can do is really cool.

So now I'm looking for a gps receiver... I can't really decide what to get though. I'm not normally cheap, but I just bought christmas presents and what not, so now cheap is good.

I'm using the Holux GPSlim 236.
Very sensitive and small.
Only drawback is that it does not turn itself off when bluetooth connection is lost.
And best of all, it's dirt cheap.

Some apps actually count the days they've been run instead of just looking at the system date. That doesn't always work.

I tried typing in CaLL just incase, but no luck. Lost on this one really. Maybe the only choice is to purchase it if no one has any luck.

If we could get someone to actually HAVE a serial, and username, its possible we can use that hotsync name then serial. This program is a pain in the ***, but I can see why since its a cool program It's $14.95 & my guess is there will be software discounts in a week or so from most palm sites, so it may go down to $11.95 or so. I just wish SOMEONE could get it working.

I'm sure more people have tested it, I just want to see what they have come up with.

In theory yes, it should work, but I think the problem lies in the 700 somewhere. On my device it won't let me enter a serial. It's just bold text about registration where you should be able to type a serial.

My guess is it recognizes its a 700 and wont let you type in a serial. Hence why the developer said it won't work.

I was even told the company who does the voicelib blocked toysofts ip, won't answer their e-mails, etc. So who ever owns the rights to the voicelib, I can thank for NOT letting it work on the 700p

- Added "Maps" support - Menu+M in view screen launches a "Map helper" application, such as KwikMaps, GoogleMaps, etc.

- Misc. minor fixes.

The quicknews plugin seems to work now on this version, so here is the plugin.

You can also use 4cast and 4stocks.

4cast is on here (just do a search) and the quicknews plugin is FREE as long as you have QN on your device (which I posted on here, and you can find with a search)

4stocks though I don't believe is on here, so THIS NEEDS PATCHING and then you can use all 3 of these in 2day.

quicknews was crashing the 700p with the last version of 2day, but so far with the new beta it seems to work fine. If you have problems, just disable it in the prefrences.

Whoops Butler 3.94 is causing a problem. It resets my phone even when the phone is just sitting there. I open my crash logger and it says it was caused by Butler, "Unable to get phone lib 2."

Not sure which option is trying to access phone lib 2 but it has reset my phone twice already. just at random times when i'm not using the phone.

I'm noticing some reset issues on my 700p.

I'm have both CrashPro and ResetDoctor installed and registered, and enabled. But anytime my phone does a soft reset, or in the rare occasion that it crashes, all my apps preferences are also reset. For example, ZLauncher is no longer my default launcher, CrashPro and ResetDoctor are NOT enabled (which defeats the purpose of crash logging!), UDMH is not enabled, etc, and sometimes my touchscreen has to be recalibrated.

I even do a Auto Backup of preferences with ResetDoctor and it doesn't remember them!

Is anyone else seeing this issue? What could be causing these issues?

I seem to have solved this after a lot of tinkering. I'm not sure if it was due to disabling UnCache or installing RescoLocker, or mix of both. But my Treo 700p is definitely a lot more stable after doing these 2 things, and all my preferences are remembered when a soft reset or crash occurs.

I had to get rid of uncache as well very unstable and thats exactly what was happening to me when I was using that universe beta browser

Attached is the PW-patcher XML viewer. It is an .EXE setup file that will extract the program and the manuals. I also included the three latest XML files that I have. Use the PW-patcher to open the XML files, the rest should be self-explanatory. The XML's have many patches, serials and keygens for Palm apps, although many are outdated. It is a great resource, however.

I use a Holox BT-321 from Ebay £30. No problem to set up and use with a Treo 650, auto switches off after 10 mins with no bluetooth connection

I am just pissed at Opera cause I can't do a virtual keyboard. How do you type certain characters when you can't pop up a keyboard in the browser?

They put this feed option on, and its pretty much worthless as you have to GO to the feed instead of just input it in. And for instance if it has a _ (underscore in the web addy) good luck cause you can't type it in since you can't pop up a keyboard.

I do wish there will only be one main browser someday. I'm hoping its Universe, but it is STILL beta. So we'll see.

Please let us know if you've gotten it to work on your device, and WHAT device your using. (I mean this for anyone)

The system shortcuts only supports small (about 45 characters in size) shortcut definitions. ShortCut5 shortcuts are in addition to the system shortcuts.
Limitations. Maximum of fifty shortcuts definitions. Each shortcut name is from one to four characters in length. Shortcut names are case sensitive and cannot contain the period "." character. ShortCut5 is only supported on PalmOS 5.x and on locales that use single byte characters.

I'm not sure what the problem is because its all straight forward, and i've never had problems with things like that before. It's like it sends the file to the right folder, but won't install it. Shows the progress bar and all.

Could try safe mode, but not sure that will work. I'm awaiting a response from tech support, but that may not happen.

I use to use PdaNet for my 650 and all worked fine, so that's why i've been trying to get that for the 700.

If ANYONE can crack June Fabrics PdaNet 4.02 i'd GREATLY appreciate it.

I was just getting ready to ask if there was a new beta for that one. Seems there is, but seems it terribly buggy. I guess i'll hold off.

I am just pissed at Opera cause I can't do a virtual keyboard. How do you type certain characters when you can't pop up a keyboard in the browser?

They put this feed option on, and its pretty much worthless as you have to GO to the feed instead of just input it in. And for instance if it has a _ (underscore in the web addy) good luck cause you can't type it in since you can't pop up a keyboard.

I do wish there will only be one main browser someday. I'm hoping its Universe, but it is STILL beta. So we'll see.

Please let us know if you've gotten it to work on your device, and WHAT device your using. (I mean this for anyone)

1) Menu button then "K" will bring up a virtual keyboard in most applications.

2) For the underscore symbol, use the dash symbol (Option S), then push the Alt key. A list of characters will pop up...underscore should be one of them. You can do this with almost every letter to get differrent variations of the letter.

Sorry if this is old news, just throwing it out there as an option.

My first gripe with Opera was this issue about 2wks ago, because the very first website I was going to go to had an underscore in it.

I can confirm that even the new, new updated Opera still has this problem.

You cannot bring up a virtual keyboard. And you can't use the Option-S-Alt method either. That's because anytime you type Alt in Opera it types a "?". No idea why, it just has to be a bug.

Appears that VoiceCall requires you to train it with your voice and each voice command consumes excess space :(.

This program ROCKS... It understand English,, well I mean American.. It launches apps, dials, looks up contact... with no recording.. I would try to sound like an american as much as possible,, and not like a redneck or anything.. Americans sound like the major network news people,, not larry the cable guy.
