I cant pin point the problem on my phone. I did a hard reset and restored my phone to 11/20/08. And it still resets. It doesnt reset on calls anymore or texts. it does it randomly now. I have no solution. Any advice?

What you may want to do is install Uninstall Manager, go to settings make sure all boxes have a check mark in them and for the sandbox option, you can choose "manual" or "auto", choose auto. After this you may have to reset. Once its installed, install Safegaurd, do a search for it on this forum...Enable SafeGaurd. It will ask you to reset your device. After this what may happen is your device may go into what appears to be a continous loop. After about 3-5 reset loops if SafeGaurd is installed it should detect it...it should ask you to place the necessary mesures to figure out what program is causing your phone to crash...click yes...after that it will load the necesary files needed..then it will reset your device...and hopefully it will find the casue of the random crash and try to fix it.
If this doesn't work then you have to go into what you could call "Safe mode" on the palm smartphone. Take out the battery...while pressing down, on the up key on the palms 5 way navigator, replace the battery. DO NOT release until you see "Palm Powered by Access"...if this works properly you should see a mesage on the lines that your battery is 'too low to perform this operation'.... go to SafeGaurd and look under Crash Log there should be enough info to tell you their what program(s) may be causing your phone to crash randomly...phew

Use a program to backup your stuff first like nvbackup. Turn on the reset after backup so you get a clean start every morning
Then go to your computer and go to the palm folder and my a backup of that from time to time (all your files and data are in here)
the install "uninstall manager" to uninstall app you don't need any more and motorized apps in the future so they are uninstall properly
then install "cleanstart" and check (checkbox) just the apps that you need on start and apps that need to work in the background, all the others should be disabled. This way on boot just the apps you need starts up in memory.
Then install "reset doctor" (its was me who conversed the developer to change its name, it was called pref doctor before ;) ). With this app you can motorized the error of the crash. DON'T turn on cache clean feature. Turn on autobackup. Go to "other tools" and turn on clean exchange and turn on lock pref. This last one well help if you have crashes with pref open error. This feature locks the pref file so just after going out of a app it is update not during (during is the normal behavior). Beware this may cause some funny stuff with some apps, the pref is just update after quiting a app, for me i have just seen one app go funny, tealdoc which doesn't stay in the folder i left it (goes back to main memory everytime), but the rest works well.
Now install "resco locker" and lock background apps, on mine i have butler (keyguard sometimes would crash), callfilter (sms spam filter), chatopus (mensenger which works in the background), fieldplus, fontsmoother (font changer), pxa clocker (overclocker), locked in memory. This makes theses apps always in memory. You should not lock lots of apps or you lose DBcache. Just lock apps that have crashed your palm (crash list in reset doctor) and are apps that need to work in the background.
now comes the clean up:
install "DbFixIt" and run (check corrupted palm databases and data that make palm unstable)
install "tealscan" (do a scan, watch out that the rest of the feature may deleted needed files if you don't know what you are doing, just do a scan, its the second tab). This app should be installed and then move to card using linkstart, zlink, powerrun or zlauncher to run from the card. The more apps you install in your card, the better it is because in this state, they don't run in the background without you knowing. "Tealscan" does things in the background and I have noticed that its not very stable.
install "cardkeeper" and turn on "detect unmounted card", Sometimes palmOS on boot or during the day may disable the card and apps that need it may stop working.
Also you can install "filez" to check your preference files (its like the registry on Windows or extensions in Mac) after a install so you can see what that app installed.
"PalmInternals" also is useful because you can see all apps that run in the background (notifications) and apps that are scheduled to do something (alarms). If you don't like a app that you see, uninstall it with uninstall manager or just move it to your card (zlauncher, linkstart, zlink, powerun) and this way it doesn't work in the background.
I also use zlauncher's file manager whitch has a feature that is the best and I haven't found this in other, its created date list, it is the most correct one (better than filez, resco explorer, 3xcom). After a app is install you can see what files he but in your system
The file PhoneFavorites2DB has gave me Phone probs, it maybe corrupted, you can delete it or just move (not copy) it to your card, palm will create it again. You will lose the favorite list in your phone app.
You can purge, like the SMS app, purging messeges you don't need can make the app more stable. Purge Tasks you don't need. Purge phone call history you don't need (I do this in takephone) , this file can grow.
Hope this helps you. All apps here can be found in the thread or just google the apps name plus palm. 50% of them are free. But if you can't found one, tell me and I'll get it for you, they were to many to but here.

This is very good advice. I just like the manual way because Safeguard is to automatic and it may not help you but if it does GREAT.
I have used this app in the past and it wasn't to stable for me but for just finding out probs can be very good. By the way this app has a "card unmounted" feature which just works on bootup, check my advice on this. And a tip, in Safeguard the running man in front of apps are apps that are working in the background.

If you want organize your apps and do not want to use any other software then goto home were you see all the app.
press the menu button under app you will see category. there you can create as many category and assign any application to that category......

As far as getting Zlauncher assigned to the Home button, it should do that automatically after you install it, unless you have another launcher program on the device. If you have another launcher program on your device you will need to delete it and the Zlauncher should take over. I had the same problem because I had Launcher X on my device. As soon as I deleted Laucher X everything was fine. Hope this helps.

"Initiate" from Hobbyist. Its like a "Google desktop search" kind of launcher. Very good for Treos. You can have a tab launcher interface (where you organize by tab) or a search like launcher (nothing is organized and you can just search for it with few letters), press the first letter of the app and some more letters in the name of app and it appears. It also searches, contacts, imagens, music, memos, apps, etc...

you most of installed a launcher app in the past and trash was left behide. If you know which one it was, try installing it again and use uninstall manager and uninstall it the right way then try the zlauncher default switch again.

I am looking to view PDF's with Japanese text. The fonts are embedded but I can not get them to view. Works fine on PC, but I have IME keyboard support installed. Has anyone solved this problem before sucessfully?

heres the keygen... with instructions..
Run hobbyist keygen. In the drop down box that says application, choose Pref Doctor 1.x. press Generate. there is old and new serial depending on what version of reset doctor you are using. enjoy!

Hey guys i have a strange dilema. For some strange reason my palm Centro keeps reseting. When a call comes in it resets. When i choose a new ringtone from the phones preferences it resets. When i get a text it resets. It basically RESETS WHENEVER IT FEELS LIKE IT.
Does someone have an answer or idea y? Any advice. It starting to get real annoying, if you know what i mean.
This is a good reason to switch on Phone Technician, I think it will serve u well if the reset is caused by ur current ringtone manager, for most of time it will conflict with system ringtone manager that I found none on Technician..!

Remember that just because a program isn't on that list doesn't mean it hasn't been posted.
Attachments are limited due to size (439.5kb for .zip & 391.3kb for .rar).
Several programs have to be uploaded off-site (rapidshare, megaupload, etc). So they will only have a link in the posting and will not be found in that list.

Try to use advance search at the search popup box, try narrow ur search for few result by typing the name of software u want and poster name (ie: kingtyce, eon, others as well, ninja:D).. to make it even narrower as eon also involve in PPC thread try to select in Palm OS thread only..

Phone Technician is exactly what i was using this whole time. I never had this trouble when i was using ringcare. I unfortunantly ended up by deleting Phone technician and at least it minimized my resets from often to ocassionally. but thanks Ninja.

quick question guys.. how do you put back ground image on zlauncher. whats the format.. JPEG , BMP or what not. ive tried jpg and jpeg. and it still does not show
You need to ensure that the app jpegib is in your device RAM and that the jpeg (use jpg) image is in the Zlauncher back image folder (either on the device or on the card).( If you hotsync the image it is sent to the DCIM folder not to the Zlauncher back image folder.) After the image is in the Zlauncher Back Image folder you will see the image listed on the Back Images tab when you open the Theme Manager. Check out my post on page 958 posts #'s 14363, 14364, 14365 and 14366. Cardreader is a good app to get the images to your device. This should answer your question.

Phone Technician is exactly what i was using this whole time. I never had this trouble when i was using ringcare. I unfortunantly ended up by deleting Phone technician and at least it minimized my resets from often to ocassionally. but thanks Ninja.
I think you may have a corrupt ringertone app and that what making it loop....Just a hunch...or try from scratch..
If you have time in your hands and willing to be patient start from scratch meaning only backup contacts no apps and hard reset three times and load each app individually....test it as you go along...
That the only way you will eliminate your problem yes long time but you get what you want......

when you backup to palm desktop / hotsync look for a backup folder there you will see all pdb & prc files from your phone backup...
there you can delete the apps and keep the pics/videos/contacts.
i use sd card resco back up pro there you can pick and choose what you want to reinstall that way you only install the things you like...
so you can use desktop backup or resco backup on sd card.....

I don't know if there is a way, would be nice to know. Maybe do a hotsync with Outlook not Palm Desktop and then hard reset and then a sync but in hotsync say desktop over palm. May not work, it may still send the files.
The files are all in "archive" folder in a folder with your hotsync name (or something similar) in them palm folder in "program files"
If you delete all theses files you will lose some stuff. Some apps like messenger has a PDB file that has all your SMS. There is a calendarDB.pdb, todoDB.pdb (and a taskdb, don't know the difference, i have delete todoDB.pdb and all my todos were still there, most be names from the old palmOS). You can try a trial and error.
I'll be honest with you, I bought a Palm IIIx in 1997 (I think) and since then (PalmIIIc, Tunsgtun T, treo 650), I have never hard reseted and have always upgraded. And my palm is very stable, about a crash a week or maybe not even that. And I have 280 apps installed, 90 of them games ;)
Just use the apps I mentioned a will back. I never format any system almost, I don't belive in formating, its the easy way out, I fix my probs, find ways to do so.

mejia_mj this is good advice (resco, nvbackup all have selective apps list), try checking off everything and go on turning on the logical ones, like calendarDB, taskDB, PhoneFavorites, Messeges database (they are all extension ".PDB", palm data bases) and see what you get. If its not right, just hard reset and do a new selection, till you get it like you want.
Don't put the save preference and unsave (if you waht to start from scratch of course), this is like the windows registry, its were your registed codes are and a bunch of trash from apps.

I installed Magic button on my treo to see if I will have the reset problem, but I have no problems at all......I enabled it......I changed the different settings and it still worked ok...... so I don't know what to say......

Try installing in safe mode (reset with 5-nav pressed up) then run it from there. If it does crash than it must be a app you have installed that is in conflict. Install "palminternals" and in the notification section goto HEHE group, theses apps list there run in the background at all times. Try to disable or just move the app to your card (zlink, powerrun, linkstart, zlauncher)

mrzippy, I recommend using Mundu IM. It does IMing from AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Gtalk, ICQ, and JAbber, allows file transfers, conferences, vibrate/silent/audible notifications, and is very user friendly and intuitive. For example, if you type "i", it automatically changes it to "I", or if you type isnt, it automatically changes it to "isn't", and things like that. Search the forum, and you will find it. The problem, to my understanding with IM+, is that it checks with the shapeservices.com servers every time, therefore a patch will not likely work. Either way, we were all new to PALM at one point, so have no fear. This is a great community, who whill be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Its not possible. I read at the 1src foruns that dimitry may start working on it. He started to use the SkinUI shadow theme and noticed that he did'nt like the white borders. Theres seems to be a black theme fashion at 1src, even Pruss is fixing fontsmoother to work better with dark themes.
Just have to wait. Dimitry said that is more hard than it looks to fix it.

I can see the music via my browser (blazer) but I never tried to play them. Any information or pointer would be greatly appreciated.

If this had sms block per category, I would stop using Callfilter. I have 105 spam numbers and if I have to put everyone by one, arrrrrrrr. Thats why I have all of them in a category called spam and in "callfilter" I just say block all numbers from the category SPAM and voila. Hope next update has this.

daest12188, personally, I recommend Splash Money from Spashdata.com. The full wallet suite can be found here, or simply register Splash Money v. 4.09 (the latest version) with universal code SWXU-89742729262. I have about 10 or 12 different accounts I keep track of (perhaps I'm more **** than most about it?), and it is very user-friendly, and easy to use. It also has a desktop version which hotsyncs, and is very useful. It will give you reports, graphs, stats, etc. It also has a budgeting program inside it, but for budgeting, I actually prefer a program called Budget Master. It takes a short time to get used to , but in my opinion, and I've tried several, it is the best. I'm not sure if it is here, but I believe it is.

i'm a long time gizmo user and I never had probs with it but I did Resco Lock it in memory. But anyway I'm using now the new version of Chatopus (gizmo was always a chatopus at its core). Verichat still for me was the best but its not supported anymore (servider stoped work in the past). I guess lots a ppl here like Mundu and IM+ (if anyone could crack it).

you can use this cracker app which has a list of hobbyist apps
If it doesn't work on the latest, try a old version then install the new on top after registing the old version. I just install new versions on top and works everytime... for now

Application Description
Backup, Count and Export to TXT!
Features:
Backup all the SMS messages.
Count the SMS sent and received by month.
Count the SMS sent and received by contact person.
Export all the SMS to one single TXT file sorted by date.
Export all the SMS to one single TXT file sorted by contact person.
Export the SMS of specified months to files. One file for one month.
Export the SMS of specified contact persons to files with chat format. One file for one person.
Note:
Only for Treo 650 and 680.
TRIAL VERSION NOW AVAILABLE!(only top 10 SMSs can be exported)
This version cannot process the MMSs correctly. If you do not use MMSs, it will work well. Purchase it after you are sure of it(the trial version) can work on your 650 or 680 correctly.
BACKUP BEFORE TEST!
The startup may be a little long, if your have a lot of SMS messages. Please be patient.
The exported files can be found in /palm/programs/smsbackup/
If some files already exist, SMSBackup will overwrite the files without prompt.

I installed LJP 1.2/1.2 on my Palm TX and followed the instructions in this forum.
When I launch roms it gives me the info
.zem file has wrong version number. Please check your install
Version got/wanted : 0400/0500
I don't know what to do, I downloaded the roms in this forum..

If you set have Preference Doctor I believe it can do it. Let the masters confirm. If so, just search for it in the threads.

Actually its "cleanstart" (freeware) or "uncache". Preference Doctor (which is now called Reset Doctor) just deals with preference file, clean DBcache and crash log.

That didn't work. I took out the battery and I held the up button on the 5-way and then I've put in the battery and let goed of the up button after the logo was fully loaded and I tried it even before it was fully loaded. It didn't work!

He almost had it right...... you need to hold down the power button and remove the battery.....put the battery back in while still holding down the power button..... when you see the palm logo release the power button and you will be prompt to erase.....

Ok try this...
Take the battery out.....before you put it back in..... hold the POWER button until the Palm Logo fully loads up......After releasing the power button you should get a prompt. (Hit the UP button on the 5way for a hard reset)

Here are the two files needed for LaunchAnywhere as d/l'd from Rapidshare(http://rapidshare.com/files/91262043/LaunchAnywhere1.1-patch.rar). The archive is too large to be posted here so I broke it down into two separate and smaller archives. Make sure you get both.
1. UnRar both archives
2. Install and run Launch-AnywhereInstaller.prc
3. Install and run Launch-Anywhere.1.1.patched.Self-Installer.prc

Only TomTom NAVIGATOR is for the Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) devices.....

CAUSE:This happens because the Unsaved Preferences file on your device has become corrupted.
I suggest you have something corrupted you need to delete it and reinstall....
This is in the KB at PalmOne
I found that after first deleting the Unsaved Preferences, I got the Unsupported Media Type error. I went in to the Prefs and ran the digitizer and the did a soft reset. Everything worked after that.
Now to go through my apps and see what others settings have been deleted

Would anybody have any experience with a stable clipboard program to use on Palm TX; I have tried ClipPro and Clipper however both have proven to make my Palm very unstable when using Blazer for internet.
I'm trying to make it easier to clip and log small lines of text of the internet/Blazer then using it later to create emails or blog it.

Sorry don't got snappermail. But chattermail is easy and it supports IMAP. Just download last version at Palm.com and search this thread for chattermail (look for a post by me for exemple), you will find a post that tell you how to crack the app through chattermails's console

100% agree with these posts.
I tried Agendus, SnapperMail and all of them (even the one sprint gives you), but Chattermail is by far the best (if you ask for my $.98 cents).
I have it push my gmail and it works flawlessly.

Epocrates Essentials is not solved yet...... and for your 650 being able to run cards bigger than 2gb you will need to customize your rom for that.....if you do a search for 650 rom you will find out how to do this....

When all else fails, do a backup then hard reset......but that's just me....

yes backup everything and hard reset... i use backup pro always work...
when database is corrupt if you do not know what database then forget it it like needle in the haystack... best bet hard reset will solve the problem...

Yes its the Touchscreen. Did you try a safe boot (reset or take out battery and with the 5-nav pressed up until system boots up). If it works with a safe boot than it may be a software thats making this happen.
If not than backup and hard reset, if it still happens you have a hardware problem.
If safe boot works that install "cleanstart" and select just the app you need that have on bootup to be working, like apps that work in the background like a alarm clock or backup app, uninstall apps, call filters, sms filters, etc... If it still happens than one of does apps is making it happen, its trial and error process until you found out which one. When you find it just use "Uninstall Manager" and uninstall it, than look for a more recent app or one like it or just don't install it

You need to put the ID in HSID :) Newer applicationss may require you to enter your device serial instead of a username. Enter what is listed on the registration screen of the application (it may have your username, even though it says Device ID ) :)

I have a treo 650 and I see no need for this (its for the sony palm, it didn't have java when it came out). Mine is working very well. All you need is Operamini and java files. Uninstall Manager Vacoom feature also help clean dos java files left over and Zlauncher move to card, you can put opera and java files all in the same folder.

No software is run from the card, zlauncher (zlink,power run,linkstart, etc...) all just save to card so your main memory has more free ram. But when you start it, theses app put it back in main memory just to run than after you are done, it deletes from main memory and updates the files that need to be update on the card version of the app.
Opera mini use Java and I don't use java for nothing else, so what I did was move the java files to same folder as Opera mini on the card so this way when I run opera mini, zlauncher thinks java is part of Opera Mini and runs them all together to start Opera Mini.

castro- I tried installing java, doesnt show up anywhere on my phone. Am I missing some file? i downloaded it from the link you sent.
