Ok guys, now I think I'll get my B U TT kicked out of this site for too much postings, but I think, besides helping me out alot, it will help others as well to get some of that treasured knowledge you guys have.
I made a little research and found out that both are bit distinct from each other. Both apps track crashes and resets, but I am not quite sure whether Reset Doctor can monitor troublesome apps so as to avoid them from crashing, as what safeguard claims to do.
A cool feature of Reset Doctor is to flush the DB Cashe, but I have a question about this. I have like 8 apps locked with resco locker (CallRec, CrossNums, Third Party SMS app, RescoBackup, Safeguard, SecureApp, TakePhone, and Uninstall). My centro is telling these stats:
FreeMem Dynamic 8295/10304
Free Storage Mem:29118/70472
MaxDynChunk: 5784K
MaxStorage chunk: 299118K
DB Casche: 3150
and at the top of RLocker it says: Locked: 3272K
Any suggestions guys, maybe I am overdoing the locking thing. But my phone is telling that those apps are not locking properly to memory and I think that those need to be locked to mem as I use them regularly.
Now the question is whether by using the clear dbcasche feature from Reset Doctor it will clear all those settings I have on RLocker? Or this casche will not be cleared?
Second questions: I will assume I cannot keep them both?!!!
Third Question: Given that ResetDoctor backs up the preferences and settings of your phone, Doesn't RscBackup Pro does this? I've had problems with CrossNums lately, and the resets that this app has caused has deleted my preferences, settings and reg codes. So I've had to do a hard resets and Full restores with Backup Pro. Was there a way to just restore the preferences and settings and not the whole think with Backup Pro? This will come in handy next time CrossNums pull another scary one on me.
Fourth Question - If you do a full restore with RscBackup Pro, do you also restore the information that Reset Doctor had (for those of you who use both apps). I ask this because I've read that when you do this you phone goes crazy on reset loops.

P.S. Then finally, to answer myself on a previous post about whether to use lightspeed to underclock all those need-internet apps that i don't use; I think I will prefer to use CleanStart instead and disable all those apps I never use. What do you think guys, will this cause any problems like resets - because I've had enough of these lately, and i don't think me or my centro are willing and able to take anymore... nuff said for tonight

only Third Party SMS app, Safeguard, CallRec should be locked but if they work well without locking, why are you locking them?
First callrec is very unstable, should be disable and enable when needed. But if you want it enabled, than lock it.
Third Party SMS this one makes sense because it most be work at all times when you get a sms and I'm guessing it has sms blocker.
Safeguard is heavy duty app, if you like it than try to lock it. But I'm guessing it doesn't need too
But all of this is trial and error, first, YOU SHOULD NOT LOCK APPS, ok this said, if the app seems unstable and it has to be working in the background at all times than try to lock it. If it doesn't help, unlock it because it taking up dbcache. Some apps already lock themself like textplus.
The more apps you lock the less dbcache you have, less space to run apps, more crashes or if reset doctor has cache clean turned on (which i suggest to turn off), the slower the system gets because it has to clean more times.
Reset doctor is very different than safeguard (safeguard is more like palm internals and cardkeeper and powerup).
Reset doctor has a good crash log (which you can get with a special palm code), its has a save pref file backup (some times your palm can crash and all your reg codes are lost, this feature saves you), its has a network profile backup, it has a pref cleanup, it has pref lock. I don't turn on cache clean, i do it manually. But if you wish this on, apps that are locked with resco locker will not be cleaned. You asked if reset doctor is the same as a backup app, yes because it backs up your save pref files, the difference is reset doctor ******* it automactly. If you don't use it, you will only notice it when it gives problems, which can pass some days and losing the cycles from you backup and losing the good pref file. Without reset doctor you have to be very carefull and recover before your backup app starts backing up the wrongs files.
Safeguard is different, it prevents reset loops (powerup), automatic card mount (card kkeper does this), shows apps installed on your device so you can quarentine them to see if they are the one that is making your device unstable (you can to this with zlauncher, just move app to card). The running man in front of apps in safeguard are apps that run in the background (palm internal notification list). So you see, reset doctor is very different
Yes you can keep them both. But Safeguard for me is unstable, do your own testing.
Your last question, yes there is a issue if you do a whole restore or just the save pref restore from the backup app. You will need to disable reset doctor save pref backup feature than enable after restore (this is because reset doctor will notice a difference in the file and think something wrong has happen). But the real problem here is you don't trust reset doctor, if you let it do its job, you will never need to do this, just in very remote situation.
About the crash after a palm wake up can be of the keygurd, there is known issues with the new version of butler with it transperant keygurd. What keygurd are you using?
About linkstart, thats a prob with all apps that work like linkstart, zlauncher has the same prob, because all theses apps need to run themselfs to cleanup but if theres a crash they can clean up for themselfs. Usually its what you did that fixs it, just run it again and exit app. In zlaunchers case you have to go back to zlauncher so it will remove it which is for me one of the advantages it has over apps like linkstart, if you don't go back to zlauncher it will be in memory and using switch5 (or butler last app list) you can run the app fast if you need it again because its still in memory. It jsut removes it from main memory when you run zlauncher. This can be a disadvantage for some (if you don't run zlauncher its still in memory) but for it a cool feature.

I don't use that feature but i do use callfilter to block sms spam. I recomend locking in memory with resco locker. Its much more stable.

Callblock does work surf was having similar problem you need to configure it

For sure it looks that i will get rid of safeguard and replace it with prowerups, cardkeeper, I already have palminternals and know what it really does (because I just installed it by your advice to findout my butler keyguard problem), and I'll look into pxaclocker (I am afraid of this apps like this, as I said I prefer to use CleanStart or something like that rather than underclocking apps, I don't think I have any need for overclocking at this time).
I have butler currently for two reasons only - MP3 alarms and attention grabber - I guess I can go with my old alarm app (I guess it was 2playme), and attentionGrabber freeware. Then power hero I simply use it to turn off my IR and keyboard, and to monitor why my palm wakes up every now and again - I still don't know why it wakes up though, because when I go to the log and see the times it wakes up by itself, it shows that only "Phn" was running.... :confused:

I use reset doctor but i have it turn off.

About rscbackup, it may backup, but will it detect there is a corrupted save pref file and fix it for you? (I ask because i don't use that app for backup, i use nvbackup) If not, it may pass some days till you detect and your backup has the new corrupt file.

If a kg is a .prc file then I use either the Garnet 5.4.0 or 755 emulator.
Occassionally, some .prc files won't run on a sim and an actual PDA is required.

I TOO am having a problem with CallBlock Ringtone. I don't use the ringtone function. I just use the CallBlock function. I set the Mode to Normal. Blocked calls are sent to vmail, but it blocks calls from everyone, even on my contact list. I don't know what is wrong.
Any help for this?

I use safeguard and have had no problems with it. I have read of others who say they have problems but none for me. It could be one of their apps that conflicts with safeguard. Works fine for me.

Surf that is correct add there name and phone number under individual.
Action = block/sms
block method = block call or send to voice mail upto you i used block call
incomming sms = delete message if you do not want to see it i use ignore message.
save that individual setting. ok on the main page under mode you have to select Normal.. this will block any calls you have assign under indvidual or groups...
if you have your mode to allow all then it will not block any calls/sms
I hope this is clear instruction.
PS: i use call block basic cause i use ringcare for my ringer and no need to use call block ringtone...

I will give it a try. I think the problem was I did not have the Action item set. I thought by just selecting ignore message on the Incoming SMS drop down would do it. Thanks for the info.

Just follow this instructions by RS...
OK, first off, welcome to the forum.
Most of these programs (if not all) are already posted on here.
Here's how to locate them:
1. Scroll up to the top of this page
2. Just above the top post (under the page numbers) are several button choices.
3. Click on 'Search this thread' for a drop-down box.
4. Enter the name of the software (Keep it simple like 'Lightspeed' & not Lightspeed 3.0 overclock')and press 'Go'
5. A list of posts in this thread will return that have that topic in it.
6. Click on the underlined topic within the dark blue box to be taken to that post. Sometimes you'll have to look into several of the listed posts because some may only be requests or discussion of the software.
7. You can also use the 'Search' feature all the way at the top, but this searches the entire GSM forum and you need to make sure you toggle on 'View posts' and not 'View threads'.
8. Also, I'll give you a shortcut for several programs:

Hi I tried to do what you asked me to and this is my report:
I deleted SafeGuard - Which Reset Diagnosis/Prevention software tool that works on a centro do you recommend to replace this. What do you think about CrashPro (Version 2.3 is compatible with my phone).
Then when it comes to PowerHero and Butler, I got into trouble I think...
I used LinkStart to move to card, and it moved some but it left few associated files in RAM because it said it couldn't move them. They were protected or something like that...
So I tried CrossNums again and it reset right when tapping on the welcome screen (which it didn't do when I had safeguard), and then after reset, I opened back the game and let the phone to asleep, then woke it up with on/off button, and guess what? Yep, you guessed right... it reset.
Another friend of mines said (almost with certainty) that TakePhone and TextPlus were the culprits... Well, definitely I want TakePhone, and I have no idea what to replace textplus with. It took me a lifetime to find this app, and I think it was you r_castro who directed me to it.

Be patient with me guys, all my current queries are about to be answered.
Remember I said that I use linkstart to move apps to the card (it works lovely).
Then, after a backup with RscBackup, it tells me that all those app that were on RAM, and naturally previously backed up by the application, it tells me that the DB is missing (meaning that it only exists on the backup and not on the phone).
Then what I did (and here is where I need you input) was to delete all those DBs from from the backup, because I assume that if I leave it on the backup, if I restore that backup it will then intall a copy of the application on RAM again, when I already having running with LinkStart.
Did I do the correct thing guys. Hope this post help others as well...

Does anyone have an updated SDIO driver that will work in the TX.
Palms website doesnt offer one up.
Also my TX rom (the part where the OS is - NOT where proggies install to) is NOT flash based.
Can this area of memory be modified in any way even though it is ROM based rather than flash based???

I used the reg code on the fif**** day trial screen, and it dissapeared, and then it said checking for updates, and blazer pops up with basically the ptunes product page.
am i doing this correctly? please help....

Never mind...I just found out about ZLauncher Background Converter. :D
You can also use any jpeg image as your background with Zlauncher. You need to ensure that the JpegLib file is on your device (in RAM) then just put the jpeg image you want to use in the BackImage folder of Zlauncher which is located on your card at: Palm/Programs/Zlauncher/BackImage. Now make your device look any way you want! Enjoy!
If you have more than one image in the BackImage folder then you can select the one to use by going to Zlauncher and select the App menu and then select Theme Manager from that menu and then select the Back Image tab. Voila! There are your jpeg images. Select the one you want.

You need to make sure the "Check for updates every 30 days" is UNchecked in the preferences menu.

Pals, all of a sudden my call rec started to reset whenever I try to access it. This started after I locked it with Resco Locker. I have already unlocked, but it still does reset. Do you have any hint for me?

hi welcome to this forum. This is the order of how we get about doing things here. Follow them and you will have everybody happy around here - One - you will be happy cause you've accomplished something on your own (you've learnt the trick of the trade) and you will not hear things like "please search" "Use the search button, don't be scared...", second - we will be happy becuase we don't have to do the search for you, and third - we will all be happy that you are happy by finding help on this site..
Just follow this instructions by RS...
OK, first off, welcome to the forum.
Most of these programs (if not all) are already posted on here.
Here's how to locate them:
1. Scroll up to the top of this page
2. Just above the top post (under the page numbers) are several button choices.
3. Click on 'Search this thread' for a drop-down box.
4. Enter the name of the software (Keep it simple like 'Lightspeed' & not Lightspeed 3.0 overclock')and press 'Go'
5. A list of posts in this thread will return that have that topic in it.
6. Click on the underlined topic within the dark blue box to be taken to that post. Sometimes you'll have to look into several of the listed posts because some may only be requests or discussion of the software.
7. You can also use the 'Search' feature all the way at the top, but this searches the entire GSM forum and you need to make sure you toggle on 'View posts' and not 'View threads'.
8. Also, I'll give you a shortcut for several programs:
a. Click on this link:http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=487
b. This is a link to all the threads in the Palm forum.
c. Look across from the thread topics & just under the 'Rating' heading.
d. If there is an icon of a black paperclip, it means that there are file attachments.
e. Click on the icon and see all the file attachments for that thread.
f. Click on the file you want/need to download it.
If you still have problems/questions/concerns, let us know & we'll help you out more.
Note: We don't 'humiliate' others because they are new. We were all new at one point as well. We always try to help members out. It's those who repeatedly don't listen who we get grouchy with. :D

Hi I tried to do what you asked me to and this is my report:
I deleted SafeGuard - Which Reset Diagnosis/Prevention software tool that works on a centro do you recommend to replace this. What do you think about CrashPro (Version 2.3 is compatible with my phone).
Then when it comes to PowerHero and Butler, I got into trouble I think...
I used LinkStart to move to card, and it moved some but it left few associated files in RAM because it said it couldn't move them. They were protected or something like that...
So I tried CrossNums again and it reset right when tapping on the welcome screen (which it didn't do when I had safeguard), and then after reset, I opened back the game and let the phone to asleep, then woke it up with on/off button, and guess what? Yep, you guessed right... it reset.
Another friend of mines said (almost with certainty) that TakePhone and TextPlus were the culprits... Well, definitely I want TakePhone, and I have no idea what to replace textplus with. It took me a lifetime to find this app, and I think it was you r_castro who directed me to it.

Instead of BellTime, I recommend Butler 5.15 thou, search you will find it here, and use the hobbyist keygen, which is here as well (Go to the attachment page http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=487# )
Install both prc's and run hobbyist kg and select Butler and generate a key, then run Butler and register with the serial generated. Then unistall kg.

The easiest way to EXIT MsPacman or any application that doesn't have an "Exit" is this:
1. Go to your Phone page.
2. Use the Menu bar to open "Edit Favorite Pages".
3. Select an empty Favorite slot & right click on it.
4. Add Favorite will open.
5. Click drop down menu on "Type".
6. Select "Applications".
7. Click drop down menu "Label" & select ""Applications".
8. For Quick Key, select "Q" ( I use this, it stands for "Quit".
9. Click "Ok" & your done.
Now, when you want to exit ANY application, just hold down the "Q" button & it will exit to the Applications page.

TextPlus is gone as well, I don't think I will replace this with anything cause I wasn't really using it after all, I was still typing and not really put much attention to what was been suggested by the app.

I think I am giving up on this game, if anybody knows a replacement for this I will really appreciate it. I checked the one that you had PocketNums, and I didn't really liked it, this one here was a bit more challenging and easier to play...

One more thing, probably you answered this but it wasn't clear for me. Sorry that this may look like reinventing the wheel to you, but please "give me some of your fire". Should I install CleanStart on my centro and disable all those apps I never or hardly use, o should I use LightSpeed and underclock to lowest possible settings all those apps and leave at default settings the other apps. (concerning lightspeed, will default settings be the clock settings that the application is running under without having LightSpeed or just a recommended setting by LightSpeed?

CrashPro it never really worked well with palmOS 5, its just good for crash log and for that you have reset doctor. I maybe wrong, haven't used it for a while. Give us or input.
Cleanstart is to disable a flag that apps get on boot so they can load themself in to memory (or not) to wait for a event. Its not the apps you hardly use, its apps that don't need to be waiting for something, like games can be disable of course. But apps like resco locker, reset doctor, callfilter, callrec (if enable), zlauncher, uninstall manager, etc... if they are not enable in cleanstart they will not do nothing till you run them manually one time.
About Lightspeed, yes you can downclock all and put the rest in the default system setting. No prob there. I don't use lightspeed, i use pxa clocker, works better on my treo 650, the default system setting is 312mhz, thats the real speed of the palm processor.
To check your real speed i suggest installing speedy (you will need to clock the app at the speed you want to test it) and it will give you the real speed and compare with other devices.

My Treo 650 has this strange problem of suddenly waking up and not recognising my SD card. Which is deeply disturbing. My usual solutions are to reset in various combinations -warm,soft,warm,soft,warm,restore NVBackup, soft,etc,etc. Most times somewhere down the line it all comes back to normal. But actually have no idea why this occurs. Esp when I warm reset, the card is seen but if I soft reset it is not. Any idea why this is so? I assume it is because of some application which creates error during startup. I installed CleanStart but don't know what I should/ should not check/uncheck. Will this help me?

Its not stable because your using it in main memory. Don't you have linkstart? use the card feature to move to your card, this way its ALWAYS disactivated.
Thx for the tip, never heard of that app. Palm internals has a advantage, its free anyone in any forum can install without hassale. Not all forum out there i can recomend cracked versions of a app. But anyway its cool to know there are other apps.

Its a PalmOS bug, to many apps on boot. With cardkeeper (or safeguard) you can mount automactily card:

Cleanstart you should select apps that are needed at boot and are needed to be running in the background: like alarms, keyguards, sms filter, ring tone apps, profiles, apps that monitor things, etc...

I am wondering if your problem is related to the size of the SD. I had a similar problem. I put a 8gb SDHC in my wife's Centro & it immediately had issues of recognizing the 8gb card. I take the card out, put it in & it would be recognized, then after using the Palm a bit, it would be unrecognized again. After much trial & error & using Card mounting software (which didn't help) I ended up putting the 4gb card back in.
Now, if your problem is due to "problem apps", I would go back & look at all the apps you have recently installed before this problem started. One of them may be the culprit. Also, the other card you tried & got the same error...is that one also a 8gb SD card? I have heard that their can be issues with cards larger than 4gb, though I have also heard that 8gb cards shouldn't be a problem...well, I guess BOTH are true, depending on our experiences!

I have the Palm Centro offered by Sprint. I'm looking for software that will allow my device to stay on a set amount of time... beyond the 15 & 30 seconds and 1, 2 & 3 minutes offered in "Preferences" under "General" in "Power".
Let me explain why. I have TCPMP installed on my device and use it to watch the television programs "Damages", "Nip/Tuck", "24" and "the Unit". The problem I'm having is that my device automatically shuts down after 2 minutes and I have to restart it and the program I was watching all over again only for it to shut off again if I don't remember to press a button on the keyboard to trick it into believing it's being used!
I can't seem to locate any options that will allow me to change the automatic shutdown setting to something more suitable for viewing a movie... say maybe 60 minutes!
I've tried AutoOffExtender but it doesn't seem to work! Any suggestions will be appreciated! I'm at a loss as to why my device shuts down automatically while I'm in the middle of watching a program using TCPMP. You'd think there would be some way to keep the device on while TCPMP is playing!
Any suggestions? Please help.... I'd really appreciate it!

I'd upgrade to Coreplayer. It's much better than TCPMP. That's what I use to watch videos, and it doesn't automatically shut off. No need for any extra programs. Search the forum and you can find it and a kg.

What version of DTG are you using? If you're attempting to move applications to your memory card to save space their is an option within DTG that allows you to do that! Under "Options" select "Manage Applications"... there you will be given the oppourtunity to move Applications to your memory card!

TakePhone has the ability to create shortcuts directly to ANYTHING on either your palm or card. The option is set by defining the shortcuts on the iBar....
I guess this only helps if you use takephone.

What version is AcidInagePro? The KG you are using probably don't work on the new v.3.028. I am "fairly" certain that most of the version upgrades on apps are really to change their registration process to counter hacker's keygens. I know they say they make improvements & bug fixes, etc. but I bet that isn't the only reasons for the upgrades!
Go here & download v3.02 & try the KG & see if it works.

Deveus, I will try to format the 8gb SD card using Card Reader & see if that fixes the problem. It does initially access the 8gb card, it just stops recognizes it after a moment. Thanks!:)

Did you launch Card Reader from your Palm & Enable it? Also, try selecting "Try to enable on launching".
Installation States: "Any previously installed versions should be removed before installing the new one. CardReader.prc has to be installed onto the handheld RAM. Installation onto SD Card, Memory Stick, Compact Flash card or internal Hard Drive is not supported."

Powerman does that, it has profiles but you can set a profile called Video for a certain time, like 2 hours, etc... and than it goes back the way it was.

TakePhone has the ability to create shortcuts directly to ANYTHING on either your palm or card. The option is set by defining the shortcuts on the iBar....
I guess this only helps if you use takephone.

First let me thank everyone who offered suggestions to my concerns involving my device shutting down while I watched movies using TCPMP!
I'm considering trying CorePlayer 3.0.1. Unfortunately CorePlayer 3.0.1 isn't offered as a trial. I noticed that the cracked version and keygen are offered on this site. I also noticed that the cracked version of CorePlayer has four individual files to download from RapidShare (I believe). Once I download all four files how do I go about "attaching" them to one another so I can install TCPMP?
Also... is the keygen that is provided, for the 3.0.1 version of CorePlayer?

I am assuming that i should see a drive pop up on my machine. I am running Vista entreprise, and have made sure that there are no drive conflicts in Computer Management. Any other ideas? Anyone else have similar problems? Perhaps it is something with Bluetooth... I'm not sure. I am assuming a lot of you guys are using this without any problems.

Try another USB on your computer, that one could be burned out. Maybe it can be the cable, I know that because I have a treo 650 and the cable is old and I have to move it around, haven't found the time to see if it the cable or Palm slot on the bottom. Clean the slot, may help.

I think I know what your problem is....You see,when using bluetooth,card reader act as an FTP...and u need some file transfer software in your windows...usually it came bundled with the bluetooth dongle...it act just like windows explorer...i'm using bluesoleil...(oh,one more thing,u have to do "search for bluetooth devices" in your windows bluetooth apps to pairing your device first, otherwise nothing happened)

I've noticed that the topics of background apps, crashes, and dbcashe has come up recently and the use of Palm Internals has come up quite often as well.
So I arranged the following from other websites and forums, hope this helps others the way it did to me. I know a whole lot more now about dbcashe, crashes and palm internals and cleanstart/uncashe.
Have you ever heard advices of cleaning you dbcashe, have a clean start and improve startup time, prevent crashes, what to tick and untick on either app, and so forth, then probably you need to read this as well:

What UnCache does:
It just stops all apps except those in its "allowed" list from preloading data into the cache when the Palm boots -- so it stops resource hogs like Blazer reserving blocks of cache memory on boot up and fragmenting your heap; once you've run the app, it caches all that data, and a reset is needed to clear some of it back out.
UnCache will only increase your cache size after a reset. After a reset you've got some extra cache space but as you use the PDA more and more, that cache whittles down and you end up your usual low cache space and then the OS will start to empty things from cache as needed. This will continue until you reset again.
If you add RLock and SharkCache to your UnCache list, they will load on reset, and preload whatever data you've set them to preload -- but you won't have to deal with other apps preloading data too. (As a sidenote, MemUnfragment isn't needed if you're using UnCache; just don't add Blazer to the UnCache list, and it'll do pretty much the same thing (in a different manner) that MemUnfragment did).
What Apps to put in UnCache's List:
Rescoe Explorer can be used to determine a first approximation of what to put in the list:
If you don't already have Resco Explorer, get the demo. Disable UnCache and reset your TX. In Resco Explorer, under Control Panels go to notifications, tap notifications to get a report of all apps which trap system events. This is your best bet to locate which apps you need to include. ANYTHING on this list traps system events and, if you want the app to work properly, is a contender to be in the UnCache list. System files don't need to be on the list whether they receive notification or not.
Trim this list using these General rules for deciding what goes on your list as follows:
1) Anything that triggers an alarm/notification. That's not just actual alarms for a timed event but also things that are scheduled to run automatically at a certain time ie: Backup programs or resets scheduled to occur in the middle of the night.
2) Background running apps like apps for skinning (like SkinUI or myKbd); button launch alternatives (like Qlaunch or ButtonsEX)
3) Plus a few things that just need to be there because they don't work otherwise - Off Flush, Keyboard (UWK), WarpSpeed and UniCmd, also snapCalc.
4) When in doubt do a trial run. Take things off the list one by one. If things still work just fine and you don't loose any preferences or settings then it doesn't need to be on the list. If however, you find that the program is acting flaky or not saving settings etc... Try adding it to the list and see if that fixes it. If the program is still acting weird - then it's might just be incompatible with NVFS.
5)** Remember ** Things that are on the UnCache list get the initial notification after reset. Nothing else (except for RAM apps) will get this notification, so try not to overload it or you will lose the benefit .
Applications that others have suggested putting into UC's list - for guidance only see point 4 above.

Note on launchers:
If it sets itself as the default launcher, you don't need to have it in the list. An app that can launch programs, but does not register as the default launcher, such as Rescoe Explorer needs to go in the list.

UnCache versus CleanStart
These two apps do pretty much the same thing.
CleanStart allows you to set up and run several profiles only loading what is required for the particular job in hand (e.g. GPS mapping) and has a (slightly) more intuitive interface, so is easier for the new user to understand quickly.
Pruss (the author of CS) has written a small freeware app (ProfileSaver) which lends a similar profiling capability to UnCache in addition to its other uses.
Uncache is said to be technically better in that it blocks reset signals to all apps, while CleanStart won't block the reset signal to some apps whose creator ID starts with '!!'. Also Uncache lets signals through to ROM apps automatically. Except for the launcher CleanStart does so only if you choose to do so (Menu>Select>'Add all ROM items') or use "Nice warm reset" which sends a reset signal to the Launcher but to nothing else.
Whereas Uncache uses an "Allowed" list that you compile by browsing and adding to, CleanStart lists everything on your Palm and gives you the option of "Allowing" it using tick boxes (together with a couple of preselects such as the 'Add all ROM items' option mentioned above).
So:
By having Apps checked in CleanStart, they are getting loaded at a Reset.
By having them in your list in UnCache, they are getting loaded at a Reset.
So if you want a totally "clean" start with max DbCache, in CleanStart make sure everything, including the "Always start panels" box, is un-ticked or in UnCache that the "Allowed" list is empty.
You may then compile allowed lists for either application using the guidance above. Bear in mind that UnCache is generally one size fits all "set and forget" whereas Cleanstart allows you to customize by task for max efficiency but of course you then need to reset every time you change profile...
CleanStart is freeware but with UnCache you are supporting a student through college. Your choice.

Not positive if cardreader works with bluetooth. It works fine with the sync cable attached and is faster than bluetooth. And yes it shows up as a drive on your computer. Try the cable.

Hello Everyone... I hope you can help me with my delima!
I have the Palm Centro offered by Sprint. I'm looking for software that will allow my device to stay on a set amount of time... beyond the 15 & 30 seconds and 1, 2 & 3 minutes offered in "Preferences" under "General" in "Power".
Let me explain why. I have TCPMP installed on my device and use it to watch the television programs "Damages", "Nip/Tuck", "24" and "the Unit". The problem I'm having is that my device automatically shuts down after 2 minutes and I have to restart it and the program I was watching all over again only for it to shut off again if I don't remember to press a button on the keyboard to trick it into believing it's being used!
I can't seem to locate any options that will allow me to change the automatic shutdown setting to something more suitable for viewing a movie... say maybe 60 minutes!
I've tried AutoOffExtender but it doesn't seem to work! Any suggestions will be appreciated! I'm at a loss as to why my device shuts down automatically while I'm in the middle of watching a program using TCPMP. You'd think there would be some way to keep the device on while TCPMP is playing!
Any suggestions? Please help.... I'd really appreciate it!

Look back a page or 2...There is a crash though that messes it up when it reads the card in 1.02 that is supposed to be fixed in 1.03 so you have to wait until someone patches it or makes a keygen.

Here is a neat little Freeware tool I found...it is "Effects of Nuclear Weapons" calculator. Have some fun calculating the effect of Radiation, Thermal Heat & Pressure Damage of varying size Nuclear bombs exploded at different heights & distances from blast. It also has a template of past explosions to compare the effects of such bombs in history.

Yes, as per (http://www.mobile-stream.com/cr_faq.html), cardreader DOES indeed work with bluetooth. All i am wanting this to do is have it so that i flip on bluetooth on my laptop and Treo, and then a Drive pops up on my computer where i can transfer files.
This doesn't seem too difficult. Has anyone got this working? I have spent close to 20 hours trying to fix it.

The Cardereader site (mobile-stream.com/cr_faq.html) says that i need a WIDCOMM/Broadcom Bluetooth software stack. I interpret this to mean a need a 'driver' for the bluetooth device on my laptop (y/n?). The Microsoft one wont work apparently.
It was my understanding that a compatible WIDCOMM/Broadcom driver can be found by looking in C:\Windows\inf\bth.inf
Here it says that I can use either the BCM2035 or the BCM2033 drivers by Broadcom. I couldn't find the 2035, but installing the 2033 caused an error that said "Bluetooth device not found."
Does this mean that I need to install some other driver before i install this Broadcom driver? What is meant by a software stack other than a device driver?
I really need help. Has anyone done this successfully?

The Cardereader site (mobile-stream.com/cr_faq.html) says that i need a WIDCOMM/Broadcom Bluetooth software stack. I interpret this to mean a need a 'driver' for the bluetooth device on my laptop (y/n?). The Microsoft one wont work apparently.
It was my understanding that a compatible WIDCOMM/Broadcom driver can be found by looking in C:\Windows\inf\bth.inf
Here it says that I can use either the BCM2035 or the BCM2033 drivers by Broadcom. I couldn't find the 2035, but installing the 2033 caused an error that said "Bluetooth device not found."
Does this mean that I need to install some other driver before i install this Broadcom driver? What is meant by a software stack other than a device driver?
I really need help. Has anyone done this successfully?

Ok...... why don't you try Bluetooth Commander???..... Check out this link and read about it.......Bluetooth Commander Specifications (http://www.softick.com/commander/index.php?page=1&new_lang=en)
maybe it may serve your purpose....
There is a patch for it, but it is an older version...... so I took the liberty in patching the newer version, since it's easy to patch.......
Installation instructions:
Install and run SoftickCommanderEn103-Installer......then Install over with softick commander.patched....... It's a preregistered patch.....

Okay guys, I have been on the verge of obsession trying to figure this out. So Cardreader is working just find over my SYNC cable, the USB drive shows up just fine. However I want Cardreader to make a USB drive (e:) over Bluetooth. I am starting to wonder if this is beyond what the program does. THe product description on (mobile-stream.com/cardreader.html) doesn't necessarily indicate that this is possible. Any insight?

I am going to be loading it up with a lot of software and before I do that I need to have a good backup/revert system in place so I don't screw anything up.
So I just want to have raw access to my Treo's internal memory and SD card from my laptop. i thought Cardreader could do this over Bluetooth. YEs? No?

I have installed Commander as per your instructions and it installed fine. I can view my ROM and my Card okay, but that functionality is little more than a file viewer. How am to view my Treo's files from my PC? I have read up on several sites about Commando and there is not much in the way of descriptive help.

I don't use commander and there are no bluetooth devices around me so I can do some testing......
but let's try one more app....... Softick Bluefiles.......
this is said to transfer files to and from the desktop....
Install the SoftickCommanderEn103-Installer.....then copy over with BlueFiles_1.08.patched.....

Does anyone have a serial for BatteryLine? You can't buy them anymore because they were developer-generated and the developer has long since disappeared. By the way, the serials are not UserID or device specific, so any old serial will do.

I located a kg for BatteryLine v.1.3.1
It uses the HSID to generate a reg. so if you want to toss out an HSID,

Do you have a web browser on your clie? That should be all you need to get to the internet. Most palm devices have the Blazer browser but there are others that have been talked about on this forum, such as Opera mini. Hope this helps.

Have you tried to reformat your SD-Card using an external Card-Reader?
I encountered this problem some time ago and it was solved after reformatting the card using a pc.

Your Treo680 reads SDHC 8Gb, 16Gb, 32Gb cards... You do not need that extra and wonderfull software.

Hi,
Kingtyce has provided you (more than) everything you need. Let's see some details.
You can use Card Reader: it will do the same (for the purpose) that BlueFiles, that is "installing" FTP (file transfer protocol) to your Treo - otherwise it would not work (not a default feature).
So, step 1, whether install CardReaer or BlueFiles.
Then you have the interface question: on Treo and on PC.
On Treo, you can do it with Commander, but you can use RescoExplorer also (menu>tools>BT Conections>add>device). Your computer's drive will stay in the main menu after that.
That way, you will see the computer's bluetooth explorer folder.
On the reverse way, go to MyComputer (depends on the OS), >MyBluetooth>ShowDevices. Choose your Treo and right clik on it, then select "available services". That is where you'll find the folder to explore you Treoīs card - wirelessly!
According to what you intend to do,remember this takes much more time than a wired connection would.
If your desktop/laptop doesn't support FTP, than - yes - you will need something lie BlueSoleil or WidComm.

Very Strange. I've seen full lenght movies with TCPMP and it never turns off the screen. That's without any power management software.

Thanks again for responding to my requests. I did locate the culprit that caused my device to shutdown while wacting movies. It was a setting I had in Teallock. Sice I've rectified it I haven't experienced anymore problems. I did download CorePlayer and its keygen and they work well on the Sprint Centro. I'd like to ask which movie software you all believe is better... CorePlayer or TCPMP? I currenly have both installed and naturally I want the better software since there's no reason to keep both!
One ore request... for now anyway.... :)!
I found out about the program Powerman v3.0 here, from one of the many knowledgeable members. Does anyone have a keygen or cracked verson available?

I just tried copting all the cards files to my pc and its stopped in the middle. Coudlnt copy all of them. Then I tried formating the card from the phone. I get a format error. Doesnt let me format the card :(

Sounds like a physical defect of your card :(.
I assume that you will have to replace it if it can't be formatted even with a PC.

Damn, I was afraid you might say that. The weird thing is that all the apps on the card work just fine except for backupman. Maybe I will just buy a new card or wait till the palm pre comes out. This card I have is like 3 years old. If I were to buy a new one, will a 4 gig sd card work on the treo650?

Did you try funSMS 4 Treo? It was posted by Gutta Moss some time ago: http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=3568442&postcount=11407 . The link still works fine.
You might also browse Palmgear.com for suitable SMS-apps and then come back with a little bit more specific request.

The Treo cannot read SDHC-Cards. Therefore I doubt that this will work without customizing the ROM in your Treo. You could try to get the files FAT32.prc and SDIO-sdsd from a Treo 680 and flash them into your ROM. I read in a german forum that some guys did this and were able to read 4GB SDHC-Cards afterwards. But I have no experience with flashing ROMs on Treos, so I'm not able to give you more details.
