Thanks for offering GeoNiche. I haven't installed it yet to give it a try but I intend to as soon as I get in from work this evening!

You mentioned Garmin's Mobile XT Software for the Palm OS. I currently have a Garmin GPS device in my truck. Question... am I to assume that it can be used as a receiver? Do you know if the Garmin Software will work on a Sprint Palm Centro?

I recently installed TealOS 1.19 (patched) from this forum on my TX, and after some trying it seemed to screw up my Docs To Go (v7.006, original bundled). I already removed TealOS, reinstall Docs To Go, hard reset but the problem remains.
The problem is Docs To Go freezes whenever there's an SD card (2GB) which has files (.prc's) in the \Palm\launcher folder. I tried with 2 different cards and the result is the same. If the \Palm\launcher folder is empty then no problem.
The TX still has 75 MB free and the SD around 1 GB free.

Can anyone help me pls?? Thanx a lot guys...
(Btw how good is the TealOS 1.38? I think it's cool but with this problem with Docs To Go...)

The most recent versions (1.33 and higher) work great on my TX and don't cause any problems with Docs To Go (V8.0). If you have a backup of your TX can you restore it to a state prior to installing TealOS 1.19? If so try out the most recent versions of TealOS. (It keeps getting better and better with each revision!)

Pals, just an advice, that I learned here: there is no need to always request to generate patches for the HSID - use the codes generated here and the HSID you can change it with the Multi User Hack (MUH).

I'm still on the learning curve for my new Centro. I installed the card reader program and that works great. My question--is there a Windows based Explorer program that allows access to all of the Palm system (RAM and Card) that will let you edit the phone on a PC instead of doing it on the phone screen. Along with this, is there a way to delete icons not used in the ROM section?
This is a great forum for beginners with these Palm devices.

Don't know of a Windows explorer type program that will access your Palm but there is a program that displays your palm on your PC. It is called PDAReach. It places an exact ******* of your palm device on your PC screen so that you can do all the functions from your PC instead of the Palm. For example you could use the filez application or Resco Explorer to see and manipulate all your palm files on your PC. If you are looking for off road GPS software then Geoniche looks like the choice. If you need a GPS receiver I am using one called the Freedom Keychain GPS. It is a VERY small unit that is about 1 1/14 inches by 1 inch in size and it works great and can be attached to your keychain (hence the name). It costs about $60-$70 USD. As mentioned earlier the Garmin mobile is for on road navigation. I use TomTom 6 for this and it works great on my treo 755p. It is available in this forum. Hope this helps.

And perhaps(?) upgrade your Docs To Go? Although I don't have a TX, my Centro works with no problem (I have DTG 11 and the latest TealOS).

I had a similar problem but it wasn't with TealOS. I thought I had a corrupt DTG excel file but I think it turned out to be a problem with the older version of DTG that I had. I would recommend upgrading to Docs to Go (DTG) version 11 which is on this forum. I did that and I had no further problems with DTG. Hope this helps

The image you choose should be at least as large as your device display at its largest size, typically 320x320 or 320x480 pixels. If you image is larger, only the upper left corner will be used.


HINT: If your display size is variable due to a software text writing area, you should import the image with your display at the largest vertical size. For devices with variable landscape-capable displays, a different background image can be loaded for each screen width.

Please post if it works, because I've tried to change the BG image on my treo 680 and it soft resets by itself when I tap on the OK button on the page where you can choose your image, also if anyone can give a hint on what is happening with my device that is causing this weird soft reset, I'll appreciate it.

Besides this subject, I found TealOS simply amazing.

The image I'm trying to use was edited by myself using corel photopaint X4, I resample it to 320 x 320. But it simply didn't work.

first thing you need to do is resize to 320 x 320 or 320 x 480 if you goto teal website download the pdf file it shows you there what the picture size and format it has to be..

I had some jpeg i tried to use as a background it did not work but if you resize to correct formatt it will work...

Apparently the problem was conflict between DTG and TealDoc on the SD. I removed TealDoc, installed DTG 10 (from this forum, haha) and now trying TealOS 1.38 (also from this forum). So far so good..

Ask a freind who is using cingular service, tell them to call cingular and ask them i am going out off country i need to use this cell phone please can you give me my unlock code...he may need to try this few times cause every rep will not give out code. also tell cingular i am willing to cancel my service if you do not give me the code.. This usually works and they will give you the unlock code..

Somebody remember MinuteMinder on treo600? That ancient and useful program that beep just before each minute or 10 minutes during a call ? Natcho, the developer, apparently it left the project on 2004 and this program never run on 650.

I was already made that the program run on my treo650 and works fine :). I don't know if this will work on another treo models, because I don't have another :D . Maybe somebody find useful this link.

Thanks again kingtyce!!! I haven't been using all the various updates that have been coming thru, especially after reading about someone losing all their registration info for various apps, but today I did a backup, uninstalled TealOS, then put on this latest not-beta ver, and it's great. Naturally there are a couple of differences I don't like, but the improvements outweigh those. This app is the coolest thing ever to happen to my Treo650. Using the same background for this and Takephone makes them look like the same app almost. And by this version, the swipe movements left&right are more smooth and not-hesitant. When I first showed this off to someone, using ver.1.09, they said it looked obvious that it was meant for a faster phone. They wouldn't say that with this version. I'm just gushing because I love this app SO much. It's hard to believe how ugly the Treo650 OS started out like, with it's plain launcher and phone backgrounds. Apps like TealOS and Takephone really show what it SHOULD have looked like. Now if I could just change those few screens that come up from looking like the old crap - like when the phone is dialing or on a call, I'd be even more thrilled. Ah well, can't have it all, eh? But thanks for all you do, kingtyce.

My phone restarted when I tried to use a progressive jpeg image as background for TealOS. All worked well with standart jpeg files. Ise used Resco Viewer to crop & convert a progressive jpeg to a 320x320 standard one and all worked well.

I haven't been using all the various updates that have been coming thru, especially after reading about someone losing all their registration info for various apps, but today I did a backup, uninstalled TealOS, then put on this latest not-beta ver, and it's great. Naturally there are a couple of differences I don't like, but the improvements outweigh those. This app is the coolest thing ever to happen to my Treo650. Using the same background for this and Takephone makes them look like the same app almost. And by this version, the swipe movements left&right are more smooth and not-hesitant. When I first showed this off to someone, using ver.1.09, they said it looked obvious that it was meant for a faster phone. They wouldn't say that with this version. I'm just gushing because I love this app SO much. It's hard to believe how ugly the Treo650 OS started out like, with it's plain launcher and phone backgrounds. Apps like TealOS and Takephone really show what it SHOULD have looked like. Now if I could just change those few screens that come up from looking like the old crap - like when the phone is dialing or on a call, I'd be even more thrilled. Ah well, can't have it all, eh? But thanks for all you do, kingtyce.

Don't know of a Windows explorer type program that will access your Palm but there is a program that displays your palm on your PC. It is called PDAReach. It places an exact ******* of your palm device on your PC screen so that you can do all the functions from your PC instead of the Palm. For example you could use the filez application or Resco Explorer to see and manipulate all your palm files on your PC. I'm using TealOS with UltimatePhone at the same time. I set the dialer as the default screen for ultimate phone and it easily replaces the dialer and the contacts screens for you. Set the background to match the one you use in TealOS and it is almost seamless. Definately helps the eyecandy needs. Thanks ggavalas, I'll give that another try. I had that going before too and it was beautiful, but I deleted it when trying to solve reboot issues. In the end, just by blind trial and error, what helped the most was by going into the regular Phone App and choosing HOME under the Select Band option. I dunno why, but that cut my 1-2 random reboots a day to more like once a week or month. It was SO irritating, hearing it reboot in the middle of the night. Anyway - I'll try Ultimatephone again, thanks for the idea!

Not quite sure what you are asking here. If your device has wifi ability then all you need is a web browser to connect to the internet with your device. If you don't have wifi then you can use an application like pdanet (it's on this forum) but this uses your phone as a modem to connect your PC to the internet (with a cable or through bluetooth) and the internet will not be directly on your phone but on your PC. Is this what you wanted to know?

I'm using it on my TX with a 4GBHC and it really works, besides the reading/writing speed is greatly improved, I really think it's a wonderful driver, I don't know why palm or access guys never thought about something like this.

Also I would ask if someone is using this driver with a 16 or 32 GB card?, if so please comment about it.

Your going to laugh, its font smoother. Do you have it installed?

Fontsmoother has this anti-aliasing feature that plays with colors. This is what i do, every game i disable font smoother, no need for it in games and takes up game resources.

If you are looking for off road GPS software then Geoniche looks like the choice. If you need a GPS receiver I am using one called the Freedom Keychain GPS. It is a VERY small unit that is about 1 1/14 inches by 1 inch in size and it works great and can be attached to your keychain (hence the name). It costs about $60-$70 USD. As mentioned earlier the Garmin mobile is for on road navigation. I use TomTom 6 for this and it works great on my treo 755p. It is available in this forum. Hope this helps.

Does the Centro have internal GPS? I don't think that it does. I read on palm's webpage that an external GPS receiver is required to get full GPS navigation with the Centro. The Centro does have the ability to show your location using Google Maps My Location feature (uses cell tower triangulation for location) but this is not full GPS navigation with turn by turn directions etc. I have a treo755p and it doesn't have internal GPS so I use an external bluetooth GPS receiver (Freedom Keychain GPS receiver (VERY smalll unit)-about $70 USD) and TomTom 6 and it works great! Even if the Centro has internal GPS, which I don't think it does, it may be locked out by Spirnt so you can't access it with TomTom or Garmin. You could install TomTom or Garmin and see if you can access the internal GPS if there is one on the Centro.

I have used an external GPS receiver/TomTom software successfully with a Treo 650 and a 680... I have not used the Centro. But the setup, as far as I have read, is the same.

The Freedom keychain is a nice one; visit sites such as www.buygpsnow.com or www.semsons.com for more options too.

I would like to try the Garmin Nav software with my Treo 680, but I'm curious: has anyone done so from a Mac-based install? I'd like to hear your experiences if so. :)
I bought the TomTom v5 software, and it worked fine. But some of the Garmin software that I've obtained... I'm confused a bit.

Not quite sure what you are asking here. If your device has wifi ability then all you need is a web browser to connect to the internet with your device. If you don't have wifi then you can use an application like pdanet (it's on this forum) but this uses your phone as a modem to connect your PC to the internet (with a cable or through bluetooth) and the internet will not be directly on your phone but on your PC. Is this what you wanted to know?

I'm using it on my TX with a 4GBHC and it really works, besides the reading/writing speed is greatly improved, I really think it's a wonderful driver, I don't know why palm or access guys never thought about something like this.

Also I would ask if someone is using this driver with a 16 or 32 GB card?, if so please comment about it.

Let me make sure I understand you correctly but first let me apologize for being so naive concerning these GPS procedures!

Okay... I'm currently under the impression that installing either TomTom 6 or Garmin GPS Software on my Sprint Centro will allow me to use GPS functions provided I have a receiver. You suggested the Freedom Keychain GPS Receiver and I must admit... it appears to be a very impressive device. I currently have access to both... a Tomtom and Garmin Navigational System that is already hooked up and working in vechicles. I was asking if... after I install either TomTom6 or Garmin GPS software on my Centro... I could use either of those receivers and pair with them via bluetooth to utilize either the TomTom 6 or Garmin GPS software on the Centro?

Or are you saying that it won't work even if I install TomTom 6 or Garmin software because an external receiver is required?

You will need a data plan with your provider and a web browser (Blazer browser comes with treo 650). There may be a way to get internet on your phone if you don't have a data plan but I don't have any information on that. Try an internet search for such a solution.

I seem to recall that when Google Maps first came out, the program (Google Maps for palm os) had the ability to find your present location. Is there another app out there that will find your current location without added on GPS hardware for a 700p.

That's exactly what I was asking however, I do see your point. If I currently have the GPS Receiver then why not use it instead of the Centro... DUH!!!! I had forgotten about the fact that I'd need the receiver to connect with the GPS to utlize the software... WOW!!!!

Google Maps' My Location feature works on the treo 750 but not the 700 or the 755, which I have. I don't know of another app that does this but am still looking for one myself. Hopefully, someone can help with this.

You cannot use your own Hotsync ID (HSID) with this application. You need to use the HSID provided by Kingtyce. But in order to do it you need to use Multi User Hack (MUH) http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=176522&d=1226545715

With this application you will be able to use other people's ID per application, and there you will be able to use the ID and code already provided to you.

This is regarding Championship Euchre. Thank you so much kingtyce! That's as good as a patched version as far as I'm concerned. But just in case anyone else has a problem, I'm going to mention something. Although I use the underscore character CONSTANTLY in the PC world, in over a year I've never, ever used it on my Treo 650, and it took me 10 minutes of searching my phone and online to find out how to do an underscore. As found in a search: "type Option (blue key)- S, and then press Alt - it will bring up a menu where you can choose an alternate, specifically an underscore"

I presume you mean "I want my phone to stop rebooting". In that case, I suggest you do a warm reset (hold UP key and press reset button and continue to press UP button till PALM logo comes up) and uninstall the last application you installed. That is likely to be the one reponsible. Good luck

I suggest you give mad hat's advice a try.....

How do i adjust it so it works correctly. Run VolumeCare and go into advanced configuration....now adjust your settings accordingly..... you can play around with it to see what settings work for you.....

I downloaded and used the "patched" version of Skinner v3.6 and everything appeared to work fine until I attempted to use the downloads I had installed for "Splash" screens. The items appear in the list of Splashes installed on my device but they would not display... even when I selected "Preview On" under "Splashes" on the toolbar.

I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the "patched" version of the software because after I deleted it and installed the "trial" version everything worked properly!

Can anyone provide me with a Registration Key for Skinner v3.6? My hotsync name is: gmathews08.

So sad to see the end of this nice little application. Just thought I would mention that I have been trying it out on my Tungsten T5. So far it works ok, a few minor glitches, I still have to install the last version. And to think, I thought ZLauncher was the greatest...:rolleyes:

Just a quick aside for fellow sudoku and sokoban players. The absolute best sudoku game for palm I have found is "Bapsoft, Sudoku Deluxe v1.8". It truly puts all the rest to shame, in particular if you need a telescope to view or read the screen ;). As for sokoban, I find the combination of "Pikoban" and "Megasoft Socoban v3.2" are really great. Both are easy to see and use, and you can add up to around 18,000 levels.

Sorry, I will reply to myself. I thought at first that the editor built into SkinUI itself wasn't loading colors already used in the skin, because the first two pages I looked at all had Transparent as the color. I now see I can use this tool for tweaking colors, but it's still not very clear what each color possibility is referring to regarding buttons, fields, etc. It would still be MUCH MUCH easier if there were a software tool which showed one what part of various screens one was adjusting colors for, you know??

Try Keygen if it does not work see bleow for other options.. You might have to use older version from what i cam remember with this keygen.

You can reach activated Monitor in command bar and change language preferences only for current application. OS behaviour is much more stable when you use non-latin languages only in specific applications and system lang remains English.

Monitor also allows changing installed languages "on the fly", w/o leaving the application you're working with. In Cmd bar, tap on red Monitor icon and save or apply your language preferences. Monitor will remember it (if you choose "save" ) when you open that application again. Especially useful when more than two languages are installed.

Here is the simple way to install jvm for your palm.

1. Java
2.HotSync the "J9JavaVMMidp20.prc" and "JavaVMCheck_enUS.prc" into RAM
3.do a soft reset
4.config your JVM preference

Then you can install java program into your plam. For example, Opera Mini,

It looks like a standard fax init sequence... no error on dialing...(however, is the dial numbre correct? *99***1?) check your username & pass...seems it's kicking you over there...

On old fax/modem cards usually software sends AT (attention command follows) + codes from A0 to F0 separated by ,cr. (carriage return) & ,lf. (line feed) to the hardware for interpretation... maybe it's a driver error? it's not sending requests in adequate sequence? can you edit the AT'''''''''' sequence & change it?

i have no problem on my 755p you must have conflict with another app running at the same time...

Your palm is dialing some number to connect ti internet... as of your last post it seems to be *99***1 that doesn't seem like an ISP (Internet Service Provider) at least down here at the southern hemisphere..
The sequences you posted, are the commands the modem inside your telephone is sending..
AT\\\\ D(Dial)
E0 (don't echo commands to phone display)
& so on... it seems all correct, as the final response is <connect> (you're connected to the Internet Service Provider) then the mess begins... as your phone is sending some data the provider does not understand & kicks you out.
Check phone configuration: phone number you're dialing is correct?
Check data you're providing: user name & password.
If some of theese are not what the provider is expecting. it automatically kicks you out as a bogus ot unauthorized client...;)

Quick question....... you do have internet on your treo right??

and if so you may need to restart your pc..... then try again....
