USB Modem is faster surfing the net......... Also usb modem would not give you a trial nag......The only bad thing about usb modem is setting it up for the first time..... you have to read the user guide that it comes with.....

USB Modem 1.60 is for gsm centros...... for any other palm use USB Modem 1.59..... both are on this thread posted by me......

I've been using my Treo 650 as a modem without third party software, with my mac (turn on bluetooth and connect with bluetooth in network preferences) and palm (turn on bluetooth and dial-up networking). And now that Opera 10 has a turbo mode (have to install it on a virtual windows), surfing is even cheaper

Just a suggestion - try starting it without the SD Card inserted.
Do not have any experience in teh 755, but it looks like going to BootLoader Mode or else trying to update your ROM using the SD DCard.

A lot of them are. The best way to tell for a specific app is just to try it and see (if you don't want to go online and actually check the compatibility for each one). If worst comes to worst, reset and uninstall it!

Sorry it took so long to reply but as you can see from my prior post I was locked out of the forum for a while.
As to the problem with AG, I had the same problem. Not sure what version of AG you are using or what audio player you are using but I had to revert to ptunes 4.07 and audio gateway 1.22 to have some success. If you choose to do this follow these instructions carefully to uninstall your prior version of audio gateway:
Softick Audio Gateway installation manual
1. You need to uninstall previous version of Audio Gateway before new version
installation is started.
Please do the following:
a). Start Softick Audio Gateway and tap "Internal Speaker".
b). Turn off “Enable extra program resources protection” and “Enable
Treo 700p headset connection watchdog” options from Options-
>Troubleshooting menu.
c). Exit to Launcher.
d). Perform soft reset.
e). Delete Audio Gateway application using Launcher App->Delete menu.
2. Remove your headset from Trusted devices list ("Prefs->Bluetooth->Setup
Devices->Trusted Devices", select your headset, tap "Details" and "Delete
Device").
3. Perform soft reset.
4. In "Bluetooth->Setup Devices->Hands-free Setup" establish connection with
your headset, pair your headset again.
5. It is REQUIRED to soft reset your Palm after step 4.
6. Install newest version of Softick Audio Gateway and start it.
7. Select your headset from devices list and tap "A2DP Device". Connection
with your bluetooth headset will be established.
Please note. You should perform these operations in described order,
otherwise Softick Audio Gateway may work incorrectly.

Good Luck. Also I have had to do a few warm resets before using audio gateway to get it to work. It seems quite buggy or it could be palm bluetooth which is kind of buggy too.

Some are for use as PC Pilot does (ie close in control on bluetooth or WIFI) and some are to control a PC from the internet from any location. These are tough to crack. Kingtyce has been trying to crack RDM+ and has not been able to yet. We hope he is successful. Hope this helps.

I had the same problem with my 755 about six months ago. Unfortunatly tech support eventually told me my eprom was corrupt and they changed out the phone. If you don't have insurance on it, I would try pulling the sd card out. Then do a cold reboot.

Pull battery, hold down red power key while you put battery back in...after access screen shows up, release. Then erase all data yes.

Unfortunatly you may lose your contacts, etc unless you recently hotsync'd or had a backup on your SD card. I would highly recommend you load Resco Backup if you don't have it. I have unfortunatly locked up a few other times and it has saved me.

It may at least get you up and running again.

Also, after you do it, make sure you have the latest version for the treo...I think 1.7 on the 755 right now, at least with Sprint.

anyone know why my coreplayer has refused to recognize card directories. when i try to open a movie. i go to open menu and i get the mem sloy and the card slot, so i open the card slot and i only see the palm folder and not the other folders it used to show. i have done all the 3 resets, i have uninstalled and installed the program again but no success. i tried the old TCPMP (free version) and that one works fine. so i guess its not a problem with my card. anyone with any ideas, please. thanks

To the first two points:

I using a custom ROM on my Treo 650. I made the ROM with the "ROM-tool", a freeware app. With this tool you read out the ROM, upload the new ROM. If you know the files to erase it is very easy. But : I don't know whether the ROM-tool works on a 680-ROM. We have to ask the real experts here ;)
If they give us the ok, I will upload the tool here.
But be sure, your choosen apps will work in ROM.

ok go to page 1259 and half way down you will see it. it was posted by kingtyce and i downloaded it to check if it works even though i have a copy already and yes it works great and as for reg code just ask someone and give your HSID. oh and remember to hit the "Thanks" button on kingtyce's page to thank him. hope this helps ;)

The hotsync id "kracked dude" appears to be blacklisted in Aeroplayer. In other words, the app cannot be registered with this ID. :-(

Credits to beavis for that information. Just a suggestion -better ditch that HSID and grab anything other than that. Its too well known.

The other option is of course to continue with the present and generate new serials for programs such as Aeroplayer with some other HSID such as Armaggedon and use MultiUserHack (MUH) to get them to work.

Disregard the above post, I got it to work. Apparently the drivers from the patched version had bad registry keys. I downloaded the drivers from the retail version and installed them and everything is working fine.

Not sure if this is possible. If you can see the Garmin device listed on your Treo 680's list of bluetooth devices it might work if you can successfully pair up with the Garmin device. The Garmin device may have restrictions where you will not be able to pair it with your 680 though. I think youngcountry was trying to do this so if he sees this post he can tell us if he was successful and how. Alternatively, I recommend you buy a GPS receiver like the Freedom Keychain GPS (about the size of a matchbook and $80 USD), which is what I use, and then donwload the TomTom or Garmin software for the palm. They are located on this forum. This works very well for me. Good luck.

Try going to preferences (general preferences) on your centro...... then go to sounds and alerts........and bring up the volume through there...

i am on CDMA - Sprint and i have been through every bluetooth headset you can think off. finally cam acorss Plantronics Discovery 925 and they work perfectly on my sprint treo 755p..

I had jawbone 2 and Blueant z9i and they never cam close to Plantronics Discovery 925.

blueantz9i is good for GSM netwrok ----

USB Modem is faster surfing the net......... Also usb modem would not give you a trial nag......The only bad thing about usb modem is setting it up for the first time..... you have to read the user guide that it comes with.....

USB Modem 1.60 is for gsm centros...... for any other palm use USB Modem 1.59..... both are on this thread posted by me......

I used the 1.60 on my Sprint Centro and I realize now that I should have used the 1.59 version. On my Vista 64 laptop the bluetooth connection works fine but the usb connection I couldn't get to work. On my Asus eee with XP the usb connection worked for a few days (not any more) and the bluetooth connection never did. Does it really make that much difference between the two versions? I'd hate to delete the 1.60 on my Centro since it's working on the Toshiba Vista because right now it's my sole connection to the internet via a laptop and getting the bluetooth to work took a lot of screwing around (I don't know if I could stumble onto the path again).

I installed the file "imskypeV1.2palmINSTALL.prc" first before I installed the patch file. I could not use the IM+ now, since the tiral period expired. Whenever I tries to open up IM+, it prompts me with a following message and prevents me from using the application.

"The trial period expired. Please register with the registration code or buy it online to continue using the application."

Any idea on how to fix this? I tried to uninstall IM+ and reinstalled it again but it still gave me the same message. Thank you.

I would uninstall everything using uninstall manager and soft reset your phone and try again... make sure you delete eveything including all preference to skype ....

I did find a file related to IM+, Implus_Utils, was not removed by Uninstaller. After removing it and following the installation procedure. The application is still have the same "expired" message. Thanks for all your help, saj070.

Hey Youngcountry,

I have used only USB Modem (so hard to say), but I can tell you one thing is that it works GREAT FOR ME. It works well via bluetooth and/or the usb cable (the cable provides me with a better speed I feel).

I love it and use it regularly -- you can also make/take calls and send/receive text messages while using your phone as a modem (it will slow the speed down but it's good).

I highly recommend the USB Modem as it is easy to set up, use and works perfectly for me.

Most likely there is an app that is causing a conflict. Do you have Safeguard installed on your phone? If not you can get it here on the forum. If so, check the crash log and the reset log in Safeguard right after the reset occurs again to see what might be causing the problem. Then try uninstalling that app and see if that fixes the problem.

Do you make a backup of your apps prior to installing any new sooftware ??

shame shame if you do not cause when this happen all you have to do is hard reset your phone and restore backup file prior to the last app you installed...

Advise: I use resco backup pro. i back up all my phone and apps to my SD card everytime i install new apps or change anything.. So if my phone crash or resets or in a loop guess what?? hard reset last know good backup restore BAM BAM you back to were u was....

My opnion trust me it will save you lots of time and headake and pulling your hair out......

looks like i should use usb modem 1.59, for centro on sprint cdma ( looks like 1.59 is the right one )

I have unlimited data, but no phone as a modem service, so usb modem will fool sprint into thinking my comp is a palm app using the connection? and i wont be chargeded anything adittional?

and if it doesnt fool sprint into thinking that my comp is a palm app, what can i do to make this happen?

Hello everyone!

I know off and on, there have been several posts, or questions, regarding the correct procedure to actually getting Opera Mini to work. Here, I have a clear, and hopefully straightforward guide to getting it to run without crashing. Hopefully, it will be the definitive work, be clear, and easy to understand, to help avoid confusion. I apologize for the long post, but please try to follow the directions step by step.

Step #1. Uninstall Opera Mini if it is installed.

Step #2. Uninstall Java, IBM Websphere, etc., if installed.

(For these, I recommend Uninstall Manager).

Step #3. Go to this link:

Step #4. Extract the .zip file to a place you will remember it, and be able to find it. Once extracted, go into the WEME571JVM directory, then go to the JVM directory, then go to the ARM4T directory. Once there, you will need to install 2 files only.

Step #5. Install J9JavaVMMidp20.prc and JavaVMCheck_enUS.prc via hotsync. These are the only two files needed, for an English translation. For other localized copies, please try to insert the one that corresponds to your needs.

Step #6A. THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT STEP!!!!! DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP UNLESS YOU WANT OPERA MINI TO CRASH ON YOU EVERY TIME!!!!

Step #6B. On your Treo 680, go to the Prefs application, scroll all the way to the bottom, and there will be a category, called Other. Once there, you will now see a choice called, "IBM Java VM" Click on it, and at the top, you should see an arrow pointing down. Make sure next to it, it says, "[Global Preferences]". Hi.

Ultimate phone looks better. It has animations when selecting different functions or when using it as a launcher. But it is not so straightforward, sometimes you have to do many movements to do what you want. Additionaly - I'm from the european country and Ultimate phone use own fonts. They are nice but incompatible with my country's special characters. U can set it to use default palm fonts, but then it is not so nice :-)

I found Takephone more effective to use. Nice plugins, integration with other products by Shsh (2day, 4cast). Easy navigation, everything on one screen. And also more useful launcher. Sadly, I miss the animation effects of Ultimate phone :-)

Hello everyone!

I know off and on, there have been several posts, or questions, regarding the correct procedure to actually getting Opera Mini to work. Here, I have a clear, and hopefully straightforward guide to getting it to run without crashing. Hopefully, it will be the definitive work, be clear, and easy to understand, to help avoid confusion. I apologize for the long post, but please try to follow the directions step by step.

Step #1. Uninstall Opera Mini if it is installed.

Step #2. Uninstall Java, IBM Websphere, etc., if installed.

(For these, I recommend Uninstall Manager).

Step #3. Go to this link:

Step #4. Extract the .zip file to a place you will remember it, and be able to find it. Once extracted, go into the WEME571JVM directory, then go to the JVM directory, then go to the ARM4T directory. Once there, you will need to install 2 files only.

Step #5. Install J9JavaVMMidp20.prc and JavaVMCheck_enUS.prc via hotsync. These are the only two files needed, for an English translation. For other localized copies, please try to insert the one that corresponds to your needs.

Step #6A. THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT STEP!!!!! DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP UNLESS YOU WANT OPERA MINI TO CRASH ON YOU EVERY TIME!!!!

Step #6B. On your Treo 680, go to the Prefs application, scroll all the way to the bottom, and there will be a category, called Other. Once there, you will now see a choice called, "IBM Java VM" Click on it, and at the top, you should see an arrow pointing down. Make sure next to it, it says, "[Global Preferences]". Below it are two empty checkboxes, "Use Double Buffering", and "Use high resolution coordinates". CHECK THEM BOTH. Scroll down a bit, to the "Set Memory Maximum:" Set it to 8 Mb. Well, I've found one.

First, download the official Mudnu V3 from Palmgear (http://www.palmgear.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=software.showsoftware&PartnerREF=&siteid=1&prodID=107188).
Then, after you install it on your Palm, delete the main application only (Mundu IM V3).

yuyin said make sure you follow instructions...... one of the instructions in the nfo states: in the Palm register with any 16 digits key and in PC register with any key

you are not registering with 16 digits...... I tried it and it worked for me......

about an all in one messenger, Mundu is your best bet...... do a search for it..... If you can't find it let us know and someone will help you out.....

Okey the photogather has working with 16 digits to register, i should realize it & now i can use it, thanks before! Now my problem are sometimes i use Mundu IM cannot connected to Yahoo Messenger but in my MSN, ICQ, Gtalk seems okey for me, but is there any another great all in one messenger than Mundu IM or VeriChat?
