I originally posted this in the Bluetooth forum at howardforums.com, and I was advised to come here.
So, I'm going to jump right in with it on my first post
Thanks for reading ... :D

I sent this to ambicom support:
I have a quick(?) question about my BT2000D CompactFlash. s/n BT2442000253

It installed fine, I paired it with my BT cell phone, and connected to the internet
.. my question is about speed

I'm using the mobile speed tests at dslreports.com/mspeed
The speed seems to be capped .. i can only get 40-70kbps with the ambicom, but with everything else I get 100-110kbps ..
If i connect the phone with a usb cable as a usb modem, then i do get the faster 100kbps speeds
I also have a D-Link USB Bluetooth adapter, and if I uninstall the ambicom and install the D-Link, I get the normal 100-110kbps.
I have tried using w2k and XP. I have ghost images of w2k and XP, with the BT2000D installed and another set with the D-Link USB BT adapter installed.
And, I've gone back and forth between those ghost images.

I also have another thinkpad with onboard Bluetooth, and it gets the normal 100-110kbps when connected to my phone as a Bluetooth modem.
I have multiple cell phones to test with also - with any of my Verizon phones, no matter how they are connected nor to which pc/laptop I connect it to, i will always get 100-110kbps except with the Ambicom!!

Is there anyway I can get my normal 100kbps connection speeds using the BT2000D?

By the way, before you replaced my BT2000D with the newer version, I could use it with w2k and was getting the normal 100-110kbps speeds. I could even use that old one with XP, but I was only getting the 40-70kbps (this was the reason I went to your site in the first place, and I found out that you were replacing all the older versions).
And this was their response:
Dear Sir,

It is due to the firmware and software provided by Widcomm is tune down for greater compatibility with other device in the market.

Best Regards,
AmbiCom Support Team

Should I just give up and use my D-Link adapter?

Based on a reply asking for Driver Properties and Device Status, I also posted this:

Apparently the first generation of the BT2000 CF adapter were not completely compatible with XP, so they sent out new ones to anyone that asked (and had receipt that showed device less than 12months old)
And with the first generation CF, it was installed as a Bluetooth COM Bridge and you had to use a "Standard 56000 bps V90 Modem" for the DUN.
Here is the first generation CF's pdf file if you want to look at it:
www.humpa.com/downloads/ambicom_bluetooth_CF_User_Manual.pdf
I don't know what drivers that was using. And I followed that pdf to install on w2k, though I'm not sure how I got it working on XP (same way?)

X21 thinkpad using XP:
With the new BT2000D CF adapter, I installed with the cd they sent and it is using WIDCOMM 1.4.2.2 drivers
And here is a jpg of my Bluetooth > Advanced Configuration > Hardware tab > Device Status: www.humpa.com/downloads/device_status_ambicom.jpg

And, here's the jpg for the D-Link drivers properties and device status: www.humpa.com/downloads/d-link.jpg
