View Full Version : Widcomm 4.0.1.2101
New Software version 2101 on http://www.ccandc.com.tw/support.htm
Just created the patch....
To install follow my instructions EXACTLY, this is the fastest way:
-Unplug the Bluetooth device
-Install Widcomm, don't make a reboot
-Kill the processes BTTray.exe and BTSTAC~1.EXE in the Task manager
-Rename the 4 files to replace to .original
-Copy the patched files to the location
-Reboot
Or an other method described http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=212988
Seems to be the first version supporting High Quality Audio (at least the device is installed by default)
Thank again Billyx, this version is working very well. :) Now I can get my HP BT headphone working! But to use it with 2 HID devices is really painful as they claimed A2DP need hugh bandwidth. But it is better than noting :D
This is really, really great. I finally got my HP Stereoheadphones working. A2DP now works like a charm.
Thank you Thank you Thank you

Hi =)
Could someone post an alternate link to the software - or perhaps post the software to the forum? The original site is dead slow :)
cheers

I have the following problem after installing 4.01.2101 (also with the previous versions).
I have a Mycom Bluetooth Dongle (CSR chip): USB\VID_0A12&PID_0001\6&7172438&0&3
OS: Windows XP SP2 (bth.inf and bth.pnf both renamed, so Windows BT stack can't load..!)
After successfully installing/patching etc. the bluetooth connecting only works for about 30 seconds and then i get the error "bleutooth device not recognized" (or something similar, it appears in Dutch so i have to translate as good i can).
I have been experimenting for 3 nights now (as i said installing the 3 latest versions of Widcomm) but all gave the same result.
Also i discovered when the BT-connection is "up" that when i try to discover other devices the connection goes down within seconds.
A year ago, when i bought the dongle and had Win XP SP1 and Widcomm 1.3 installed, it was all rock stable. So i guess it has something to do with SP2.
Maybe someone recognizes this problem and can give me some advice or even better, a solution.

 When I try to install the widcomm 4.0.1.2101 software I always get a message Bluetooth Software license file not fount [2]. I tried to change the SVCPACK.INI too but no luck I didn't have any troubled with 4.0.1.700
Someone got a solution ?
thanks in advance
Had the sane problem. I solved it by uninstalling previous version and removed the bluetooth device

Hi, according to the supplied BTWUSB.INF your BT module with VID=0A12 & PID=0001 seams not to be (directly) supported. The same goes for me. :(
I have compiled an Excel file from the BTWUSB.INF for 4.0.1.2101 and 1.4.3.4 (my previous version) showing what's supported.
You could try add your BT module to the BTWUSB.INF and see if it helps. (Look at the example I have attached). But it was of no help to me (VID=1668 & PID=2441 on an IBM Thinkpad X40 with a CSR BT internal module III, Firmware rev. = 546, HCI = ver 1.1 rev 0222). I did not get the A2DP.
Someone else might have more knowledge if it is possible with some more changes.
Finally got my i-Phono headset to work with my built-in Compaq R3000Z bluetooth. I love it. This site is a great resource and a special thanks to Billyx.
I can not use it, have VID=0A12 & PID=0001 Dongle :(

I have experienced a similar problem during install. It will usually tell me something like "No BT dongle found" or something like that, so I just choose to continue without install without dongle. Then apply all necessary "magic" files (:D) in safe mode. When I return to regular boot-up, i just insert a compatible btwUSB.inf inside the install folder (I got one from an older 4.x.x.700 installation) and renamed it to btwUSB2.inf. I then manually changed the drivers for the BT dongle (which was detected an installed using default MSBT stack), with the newer WIDCOMM stack. WIDCOMM (or CC&C) made a new effort of NOT SUPPORTING "generic" dongles, but you can still remedy the situation. If you don't have an older btwUSB.inf I attached a compatible one from a v4.x.x.700 installation (see below) (just rename btwusb2.txt to btwusb2.inf and place it inside your 4.x.x.2101 install folder)

you may want to consult the driver pack that came with your

look for *.inf files that contain "bluetooth" or "bth".
this might help.
with a little fiddeling, you should be able to find out the PID&VID

hi,
I've found an installer of the version 4.0.1.2101 in emule that it's patched.
You don't have to do anything more, just install it and it will be cracked automatically ;)
The elink is:
ed2k://|file|WIDCOMM BTW 4.0.1.2101 Patched (bluetooth, drivers, software, windows, USB Dongle, Broadcom, multilanguage user guide manual, patch crack) by Kreaspone .rar|47295620|49C2FF8F80B2B60E8A5362314D721BE1|/
Great Stuff. Works well with Anycom drivers (http://kuerzer.de/Anycom4012101) with integrated BT (Acer Travelmate 8005). :D
One more thing has to be done:
- edit btwusb.inf in anycom directory
- replace all occurences of "VID_0A5C&PID_200A" with "VID_0A12&PID_0001"
- save file
- deinstall bluetooth drivers in hardware manager
- reboot
- reinstall drivers linking to the edited btwusb.inf in anycom directory
Done.

I don't like this method because it can produce problemes. In the inf -file is described which files to copy, which registry settings to made ard so on. These things can chang from one version to an other.
I think the better way is to select a similar device from the file, dublicate the line with the pid and vid settings and modify matching them to the values of the own device.
Or perhaps copy only the line with the own pid and vid from the older inf file and insert it into the new one (should also work).

Hi folks,
I finally got it. Yeah. My onboard IBM bluetooth IV advice is working.
I had problems connection to my Nokia 6230. So I got no connection. But with the Widcomm .700 drivers it suddenly worked. But my Thinkpad didn´t accept the new patched Widcomm drivers (.2101?). Don´t know why.
So, if someone´s out there still having problems with IBM and bluetooth try the older drivers or send a PM.

because widcomm stripped down the *.INF file and removed the information
for IBM and other BT devices...
yet, you should be able to use newer drivers with the .21xx.....and

Absolutely amazing! The Widcomm drivers finally work for me with my SE K750i. All the services including call redirection, remote control, 50KB/sec file transfer etc.
I have used a pre-patched version. However, there is a misspelled file name "btneighbourhood.dll" that should be spelled in the American way. Once I've changed the file name and all the references to it, it finally worked. Cost me 6 hours of patient Internet searching. If you fail to do this correction, the "My Bluetooth Places" applet says "No local bluetooth detected". What a result!
Alex
For the Dell Truemobile 350 in my Inspiron 9300 all I did was follow the instructions using the links and patches posted earlier in this thread in addition to the .inf file that I posted in my previous post.
It installed the MS bluetooth stack by default. I had to go into Device Manager and tell it to use/install the Widcomm drivers (using my patched .inf file) in order to get it to work. I guessing that is the problem you guys are having.

Martian,
There is a pre-patched version on page 3 here. Installing it does not even require any file substitutions--all should go automatically. It does...but there is one mistake related to the wrong name given to btneighborhood.dll. My problem was related to that--not to MS drivers that were uninstalled correctly.

GUYZ,

Thanks in advance
<!-- First Post -->
Hey guys, I just installed the *patched* widcomm software provided by int03h over at
http://*******.com/c55mx
Installed it without a hitch, and ran fine after telling windows which driver to use (more on this at the end). It detected the usb dongle and ran fine... the first time. After unplugging the device, windows detects it and the 'hardware' tab on the Bluetooth Advanced Configuration(right click BT icon, then advanced configuration) says the device has started, but i suffer the same problem as joselyn (No local bluetooth device detected)
I ran a few searches for the "btneighbourhood.dll", but in all of them the file is spelled "btneighborhood.dll" which is the way it should be. Looking around for an answer, this is the best chance I've got. I'm still working on it, but it'd be helpful to let others know of the problem. Anyone got any ideas?

Computer: HP NC6000 notebook with integrated bluetooth
BT Device: Toshiba Audio Headphones with Bluetooth technology
I could not get the patched version to work, even with renaming btneighbourhood.dll to btneighborhood.dll. I've actually been trying a ton of different methods of doing this, but would always end up with the "No local bluetooth device detected" using anything except the HP supplied drivers, which do not support the headphones.
Finally, I uninstalled everything, deleted the c:\Program Files\WIDCOMM folder, renamed all of the bt files in c:\windows\system32, and the bt files in c:\windows\system32\drivers.
Turned off the bluetooth device (actually this was done during the uninstall process)
Restarted the computer.
Ran the original 4.0.1.2101 (NOT a patched version).
Left the bluetooth off and clicked "Cancel" to install the driver without it on during the install process.
I did not have the processes to kill in task manager, but I still copied the patched files provided at the beginning of this thread to the appropriate directories. However, the wbtapi.dll would not copy until I renamed the version that was in the c:\windows\system32 directory.
Restarted the computer and turned on the bluetooth.
Not getting the no local bluetooth error, this is getting exciting!
Paired the headphones.
Now I actually have a service to choose! They work great :)

Ended up installing widcomm 4.0.1.700 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=179871&highlight=widcomm+4.0.1.700) drivers right after posting my reply. As of now, bluetooth IS working with no problems, and i'm going to hold off installing 4.0.1.2101... for now.
Now, any idea when a new version might be coming out? :p

bluetooth headset on dell latitude D505
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have been reading this thread with much interest.
I have been trying to get any bluetooth headset to work with my dell latitude D505 laptop built in truemobile bluetooth card.
I have installed the latest drivers from dell which install the widcomm 3.0.1.804 drivers. All the headsets that I have tested connect fine and the sound to the earpiece is perfect everytime. The microphone will always work fine the first time. If I however disconnect and then reconnect the headset the microphone then just makes a loud static like sound. If I disconnect and reconnect again the microphone works fine.
I think this is a bug in the widcomm drivers as I have tested the same headsets (latest = bluetrek G2) with another pc using a linksys usb bluetooth module which installs the widcomm 1.4.2.8 driver and get the same problem.
I have tested these headsets with a dell 610 laptop that comes installed with a toshiba bluetooth stack. This works perfectly everytime.
Has anyone else had this problem and does anyone know if the latest widcomm drivers (4.0.1.2101) available on this forum (patched) works.
I have tried to install this patched latest version available here but have not been able to get it installed. (message says there is no valid bluetooth drivers to upgrade and defaults back the the terrible microsoft drivers)
I would really like to know if anyone else has had this problem with widcomm and if so how does one solve it.
btw my bluetooth radio properties are
USB\VID_413C&PID_8000\5&90F29C5&0&2
Thanks so much.
Rory.
Hi everybody,
This is my first post on this forum. I have previously been reading but got my questions answered from previous posts. This time however I cannot seem to find the answer I'm looking for in previous posts.
I have installed the 2101 WIDCOMM driver on my HP TC1100 and everything has worked fine. I have confirmed that the driver is actually installed and bluetooth is working properly. However, I cannot seem to find the added profile for A2DP. Is this supposed to be visible in the profile list or is it somehow embedded in the headset profile? I haven't yet bought the HP Stereo Headset and wanted to check this before I go through with the purchase.
Thanks in advance,
Raven
Ive got great news for you HP notebook owners. I found an official release pf 4.0.1.2101 for hp notebooks. no patching neaded. just completely uninstall everything else and restert then install.

FINALLY... What was Toshiba thinking when they wrote their version of the bluetooth stack? Thanks everyone for making this happen...
If you need help making your "Dell 350" work, just scroll up and read...
I have the "Dell 350" and I followed the instructions above. I got the drivers to work, sort of. I can use my bluetooth mouse with no trouble. The icon in the system tray works, and the "Advanced Configuration" application works. However, whenever I click on "My Bluetooth Places," I get no response. That part of the Widcomm software is not working for me. Can someone please help me?
Sooooooo many thanks.

Could I get a patched version for my no name USB Doggle...The driver it came with is Widcomm 1.3.2.7 dated 10/23/2002. In device manager it is labeled "CSR USB Bluetooth Device" The doggle itself when the cap is removed shows a s/n of: BC2MOD2C
I tried installing 4.0.1.2101 (BillyX's patched version) per instructions and the device was never recognized. I had to go back to the original drivers to get it to work again. So far setting that old driver to run in Win2K compatibility mode is keeping it alive longer then before.....
Thanks!!!

Remember Jon's "Rule #1, if it ain't broke..." :D
Shortly after the restore of Widcomm from the Windows Stack, "My Bluetooth Places" was a blank page, now it looks normal, but says that my GPS is disconnected, but it is not. Since that as well as the printer and IntilliMouse are working so well, I dare not touch a thing
This is on a D800 running TM300 with the Dell supplied Widcomm.
I figured someone would have found the problem with the driver file at http://*******.com/c55mx, by now.
But I guess I'm the first to post the solution. This install patched all but the "btneighborhood.dll" file. It is still the original released version.
Just kill the BTTRAY.EXE and the BTSTAC~1.EXE tasks and copy the patched btneighborhood.dll file over the original one in WINDOWS/SYSTEM32 directory.
You can get the file from the link on the first page of this thread.
Once you reboot, you should be able to click on My Bluetooth Places and see your devices without the error message.
Good luck.

Hmmm. I am unimpressed with Widcomm and their bizarre policy of preventing users of older dongles from updating their buggy drivers.
It is possible to get a Belkin F8T001 v2 working with the patched 2101 drivers. Edit C:\Program Files\WIDCOMM\bin\btwusb.inf. Search for "USB\VID_050D&PID_0083" and duplicate all lines containing this string. Change 83 to 81 in the copied lines, and the bluetooth driver will then install without a hitch if you point the Windows driver installer at that directory.

I'm not sure I blame Widcomm. They have put alot of effort into developing their software. The device manufacturers clearly dont want to pay Widcomm to get the latest updates. If all the manufacturers paid widcomm for the updates then the dongles would most likely cost alot more than they do now.
Just wanted to say thanks! I am now up and running with the internal Dell Truemobile 350 on my Inspiron 9300 notebook!
For anyone who is interested here is the 'btwusb.inf' file that I used:

All I did was add the VID/PID for the Dell Truemobile 350 device.

Hi Martian,
I could not get my Inspiron 6000 true mobile 350 to work with Widcomm. After having uninstalled Toshiba stack, I installed the patched version of widcomm drivers - 4.0.1.21.01 patched. The bluetooth icon shows red even after putting the files from svcpack to correct location and restarting the system. I have moved the system bth inf files so it does not detect microsoft stack. I have changed the inf file in widcomm bluetooth to take your inf file - it did not work. I then added a few line with PID that did not help too. However much I try the bluetooth icon does not turn white. Please help.

I have bought a ISSC Bluetooth Adapter (Bluetooth ver. 1.2, 100m range ect.) and w Plantronics M-3000 Headset. The Adpater comes with Bluesoleil software 1.4.9.2 if I remember. It recognize my headset, connects to it but I can't hear any sound at all. The microphone isn't working too. I've tried to install BleSeleil 1.6.1.4 but the same problem. Then I've installed widcomm 4.0.1.700, 4.0.1.1500, 4.0.1.2101... On these drivers I can connect to the headset, and I can hear music played on my computer in the headet but the microphone still isn't working. I've checked all the sound settings, tried it on 2 different computers, Win XP, Win XP SP1, Win XP SP2, Win 2003 Enterprise Server SP1. Please help me!

I have a Asus W3V that comes with Toshiba Stack. I want to use Widcomm stack, but not working. I followed above steps, patched files, modified btwusb.inf to include
"Toshiba Bluetooth=BTWUSB, USB\VID_044e&PID_3001 ; Toshiba" However when I update driver, it won't let me install the driver and the internal BT module remains in the yellow question mark state. Is there a solution?

Great forum, finally managed to get my k750i remote desktop working without BlueSoleil with my ISSC (IVT) dongle, BUT with one issue: The mouse cursor moves jerkily and lagged, moving at about 4 cm across the desktop per chunk of movement. Using latest WIDCOMM with patches and modded inf driver file.
Weird thing is, the very first time I got it working, the cursor moved swiftly just like it should.
Anyone with ideas ?
Cheers.

I HAVE A ISSC BT DONGLE WITH1.2 firmware.. i tried to install the legendary 4.0.1.2101 and patched it with ..the files provided by byllix.
the ISSC dongle could not be recognized by windows and the new btwusb.inf ..
when i redirected to the older version of the btwusb.inf (1.4.3.4) it works !!
will there be any problem in doing so ? i tried to add my vid and pid to the new btwusb.inf but all in vain..
now the 4.0.1.2101 is working well with my dongle after using the older btwusb.inf(1.4.3.4)
is there any problem in using the older version driver with 4.0.1.2101 ????/
pl reply.............
I've been able to add ISSC USB dongle support into the 'real' 4.0.1.2101 btwusb.inf file (not the old one of 4.0.1.700 or 1.4.3.4).
Download the attached file (remove .txt extension first, then unzip it in the 'bin' folder where Widcomm is installed).
When you will be prompt for driver installation of your ISSC USB dongle, choose the directory where btwusb.inf is installed.
That's All.

In Windows XP SP1, Nokia PC Suite do recognize Widcomm because there's no default bluetooth driver.Your problem is that Widcomm can't see your Bluetooth while the MS  Stack is controling it.
First, you need to know the address (location on your C:\Drive) that the Widcomm Stack/Drivers installed in.
Then you need to go through System; Hardware; Device Manager and open your Bluetooth Properties 'Driver' page.
Now select "UpDate Driver, "let me choose, have disk" and navigate (browse) to that location (address)
where the Widcomm Stack/Drivers are located. :)
And that will be it, Windows MS Stack will not touch a Bluetooth that already has a Stack/Drive attached to it. :D
I too have been following closely after I wanted to use the remote control function on my WinXP SP2 machine using my SE W800i. I have a BAFO BTv1.1 USB dongle and I know it uses WIDCOMM chipset.
I uninstalled the original 1.4.2 Build 10 BAFO driver, installed the 4.0.1.2101, ran into Safe Mode and replaced the 4 files (patched).
However, when I plug in my USB dongle, Windows does NOT pick up new hardware found, etc etc...when I tried using my BTTray thing, it started but said cannot find USB Dongle device...and also the License expiry msg. came up.
What's up with this? Is it because my BAFO dongle is not supported?
THanks and hear from you soon.

Dude, find out what Bluetooth Virtual Serial port your phone is using by going in My Bluetooth Places, then into your phone and look at the serial ports listed. Connect to one of them (if more then one) and check its status to see what COM port number it is being assigned : ex COM1, COM2, COM6 etc etc
Then, in your NOKIA pc suite, DON"T USE BLUETOOH. You must use THE SERIAL PORT that you discovered above. Nokia program only works with the "bluetooth" selection when you use the MS stack, NOT when you use the Widcom, Toshiba or other third party stack.
Hope this was clear enough,

Just created the patch....
To install follow my instructions EXACTLY, this is the fastest way:
-Unplug the Bluetooth device
-Install Widcomm, don't make a reboot
-Kill the processes BTTray.exe and BTSTAC~1.EXE in the Task manager
-Rename the 4 files to replace to .original
-Copy the patched files to the location
-Reboot

And of further information for Dell TM350 users: The Dell (Widcomm version 3.0.1.803) Stack for the TM300 works (better than some later versions) with the TM350 and also that Dell has recently made available an improved version of the TM350 (Toshiba Stack).

Widcomm Configurations usually has a serial port in Local Services and you usually need to create one in Client Applications. Either one of them can be secure ('pair') or not. Only the one in Local Services allows "Startup Automatically" but I have seen advice to remove that one if you are using one in Client Applications. Do you recall which one Nokia PC Suite used when it worked? And if so, create one like it and remove the others (unless they are in use) You can also (in Device Manager) change some "com#'s" and at least open a lower one for the use of it with Bluetooth.

Pilotart,
Regardless of the improvements Toshiba has made, their stack is horrible. Its fine if you only need to hook up a BT mouse or something, but if you want any BT services, you need the widcomm stack. I couldn't even get DUN to work with their stack. I have 4.0.1.2101 on my dell and would never think about going back to the toshiba stack.

Alias_Maker,
Yes, even the Mouse users seem to have troubles with the Toshiba Stack.
With Dell's offer of a new Stack, last week, thought it might have been fixed.
I use the Dell (Widcomm version 3.0.1.803) Stack for the TM300 and it went through several major improvements on the Dell Download site.
Never seen a Toshiba but got surprised  by the MS Stack when after a BIOS Flash, all the Drivers re-Installed (by Windows).
This was before IntelliMouse and it did an excellent job with the printer's ioGear Adapter but had trouble with GPS.
Widcomm does best with the IntelliMouse, Printer often stalls long enough for a warning and "partially compatible" is the best I can say for GPS.
It seems like if Widcomm does not see a device for a few days,
it forgets what it was supposed to do with it and wastes my time in re-discovering and configuring the PITA Bluetooth! :(

No, Me already created serial port in the WIDCOMM Bluetooth configuration on the 1st install. What me mean is NOKIA Connectivity option do not have the option to let me choose serial port as the mean of connection.
Anyway, me already solved my problem by reinstall WIDCOMM 4 times.

I had problems installing the .2101 version on my Thinkpad A31p with IBM integrated bluetooth. Installed & patched everything like before. After Reboot. Can't find device.
Used the btwusb.inf from the .700 rev. Did work fine. BUT!!! When I turned off bluetooth with the bluetooth switch it resulted in harsh system crash with bluescreen. BEWARE DON'T USE OLD INF FILES...
Either go to the old file and copy paste all occurences of IBM related devices in the new BTWUSB.inf. Makes sure to make a copy of the original inf.
When you now install your device everything works fine :D
Find attached patched btwusb .2101 file for IBM users. Just change fileext to .inf and copy to install directory.

I now have Widcomm 4.0.1.2101 installed on my Dell I-9300 with the TrueMobile 350 internal module. I had to add the VID/PID for that internal adapter to the btwusb.inf file. No problems there, except after installation it didn't find the module till I reinstalled driver and pointed to my hacked INF file. I thought I had put it into the SvcPack.inf and ..\svcpack folder so it wold get installed, but I had CopyOnlyIfExists=Y and I don't think it was there at install time. After doing the "update driver" I copied it to Windows\Inf.
Also, thanks to billyx and friends I have Widcommm 4.0.1.2101 running with no eval notices. Once again thanks!!!
So... what's my problem? In My Bluetooth Places, I can't do anything. When I double click any icon in My Bluetooth Places. I get a message "No local Bluetooth device was detected".
I have successfully set up DUN with my phone (Verizon EVDO, very fast!) and also have Motorola Mobile Phone Tools going to talk to my phone (Mot E815 with seem edits so it does E815m and forcing MPT to see it as an E815m, with MultiMedia Studio working!).
Also if I start the Bluetooth Setup Wizard from thhe systray icon, I can select and set up stuff like OBEX with my phone, but no icons get added to My Bluetooth Places (MBP). I know it's working with my phone because if I try to again set up (e.g.) OBEX, it says that a shortcut already exists, do I want to add another? Well, When I look in MBP there are NO shortcuts/ icons, and again all icon double clicks say "No local bluetooth device was detected". I rebooted several times (of course), no change.
I am so close -- does anone have any ideas on this?

Reading through http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=106274 I see this this was encountered before, and corrected with a revised patch. billyx -- does this create a thought? I have applied your 4.0.1.2101 patches, and the licensing stuff is gone (:D thanks! :D) ... I have already monitored file and registry I/O when an icon gets double-clicked, and there is no I/O to either.
Onward... I'll report any findings here. You all have been so helpful!!!

Sigh... I see that Martian seems to have a working install with the Dell 350. I compared the INF file I hacked with his and they turned out ot be identical (except for a ;-comment I made at the top). I too used the already present DELLU2.DeviceDescription  As I said, billyx's patches seem to have worked in all other respects, as the stack installs and runs 90% of its features. Only BT Neighborhood fails when double-clicking any of its icons.
Also I was so wrong above when I said there was no reg/file I/O when opening BT Neighborhood - I had Explorer.exe filtered in both filemon and regmon! How stoopid is that!!
It has been years since I wrote assembler so it took me a while to spin-up, but I've now traced the problem using WinDbg to a section of btneighborhood.dll. It also appears to be a COM object, as it has a .NET manifest as well as a type library.
I'm willing to pitch in ... Without any local symbols, it's rather a puzzle! At least I have the orig and billyz DLLs to diff and see where he adjusted things. Off I go...
I managed to get Widcomm working on my Sony Vaio's internal bluetooth by hacking in some entries into the .inf file.
I've attached the file any Sony users will need, just remove the txt extension and put it in your Widcomm folder before you install the drivers.

Whoever deleted my OBEX... thread -- thank you! I was a complete idiot.:o The 2101 stack is working great with my Dell 350.
dcdreamer,
Widcomm version 5 is for x32 as well.
I am using it with a Dell 350 on my D series notebook. Works great sofar.
The version posted seems to originate from Logitech so I guess it came from the SetPoint CD delivered with their Cordless Desktop MX 5000 Laser product (which also works with Windows XP 64).

Woah, OK! I'll check out V5 - Thanks Very nuch!!!
This is a great group.
I also have version 5 working with the Dell Truemobile 350 in my Inspiron 9300. Better yet I did not need to add anything to the .inf file (the patched one anyway), the Dell Truemobile 350 PID/VID was already there.

That's All.
You legend! works perfect with your file :-)
Whats new in version 5?
I have a Belkin usb adapter with VID 050D/PID 0084, installed the Widcomm software downloaded from link in the initial post, modified the line in the btwusb.inf referring another Belkin adapter with VID 050D/PID 0083, patched the software with the patch dowloaded from link in the initial post :p (hihi) restarted the pc, all are ok. All work great.
The line of the btwusb.inf
Original
;BELKIN
ExcludeFromSelect = USB\VID_050D&PID_0083
Modified
;BELKIN
ExcludeFromSelect = USB\VID_050D&PID_0084
Original
%BELKIN.DeviceDesc%=BTWUSB, USB\VID_050D&PID_0083 ; Belkin Vid&PID
Modified
%BELKIN.DeviceDesc%=BTWUSB, USB\VID_050D&PID_0084 ; Belkin Vid&PID
Finally, i think that this software with the patch work with all bluetooth adapter.
Simply inserting the appropriate vid/pid in the btwusb.inf file.
Many thanks to all.

So those of you with a DLINK DBT-120 had no problems installing this x.2101 release? I decided to go with this install over the v5 release because of Billyx's awesome(and easy to follow) install instructions. I am getting the infamous "Bluetooth Device Not Found" message when hovering over the "red" bluetooth tray icon. Any suggestions for getting the rather common DLINK DBT-120 to work with this WIDCOMM release (x.2101)?
I checked through this thread to see if anyone else had/has a DLINK DBT-120 and it looks like most of you are using onboard bt adapters (sony, dell, toshiba, etc).
Thanks!

Hi Quiff,
is this working with VGN-S4xp too?
my VID&PID are: VID_044E&PID_3007
Where can I get patched version for such combination?

Upgraded from .700 to .2100 .. now I am getting alot of hiss when playing audio, also I cant get high quality sound to work, anybody else experienced this ?
Is there a patch for version 4.0.1.2800 as provided by naidoo33 at this location: http://koti.mbnet.fi/naidoo33/anycom-bluetooth-usb130-windows-v4-0-1-2800.exe
New Software version 2101 on http://www.ccandc.com.tw/support.htm
Just created the patch....
To install follow my instructions EXACTLY, this is the fastest way:
-Unplug the Bluetooth device
-Install Widcomm, don't make a reboot
-Kill the processes BTTray.exe and BTSTAC~1.EXE in the Task manager
-Rename the 4 files to replace to .original
-Copy the patched files to the location
-Reboot
Or an other method described http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=212988
Seems to be the first version supporting High Quality Audio (at least the device is installed by default)
Dear billyx
i have MSI Bluetooth Dongle works fine for me with everthing so far.
but i have very old driver installed...
Please tell me can i update drivers which u mentioned is there any benefits ( some new features , increasing BT range etc.)
MANY thanks in adv.

Great forum - and great thread.
I followed the instructions in the initial post, changed the btwusb.inf file, and got my CSR-containing BT dongle recognised no problem.
But I'm still getting 'eval' messages - 101 days until the end of the universe, or something.
Does that mean the patch didn't work?
Thanks, and you are all wonderful.

Hi guys, sob story :
Bought a Sony Vaio T37GP and an i-phone BT420 in the hope that I could Skype via Bluetooth at work on wireless. Ha !
First hampered by a dysfunctional XP SP2 (couldn't even synch with my P910i) which I tried to sort with a Widcomm 1.4.x driver replacement - took hours, and still comes up with stuff like "Your Bluetooth Software License does not include use with this Bluetooth device (6)" - other threads deal with this, so I haven't even started.
Anyway now to the crunch : I contacted Sony support, and got this :
Further to your query, we regret to inform you that only those Vaio models which are using Toshiba Bluetooth stack can support bluetooth headset.
Please be guided that the below current Models Support bluetooth Headset.
VGN-S56GP
VGN-S58GP
VGN-TX16GP
VGN-TX17GP
Please further note that the said model is not supported with bluetooth headset except if you will use third party bluetooth hardware and software.
We hope that the above information will be of some use to you.
Yeah right. So I shot a mail back asking for more detail, and got this :
Further to your query, we regret to inform you that the said model really doesn’t support bluetooth Headset and please further note that there is no way that the built-in bluetooth to be upgraded.
Please be informed that only basic bluetooth is there in the unit which connects/ transfer one device to another frequency.
Kindly be advised that if you want to use external gear, you will need to get in touch with other computer shops.
We hope that the above information will be of some use to you.
Say what ? They market the notebook I bought as equipped with Bluetooth 1.2, and then I find out that it does not work ????
Any wizzes out there that can shed some light on this ? Can it really be that I cannot get round this via drivers and software ?
Appreciate any input ...

Many thanks for the patch and the instructions.
I have the original Microsoft BT Desktop - which has caused me no end of grief :)
Because XP always wants to get in and install the 'best' driver it always installs the MS enumerator and radio device for the MS dongle post reboot even though the other stack is present.
My modifications to Billyx's instructions for this hardware are then:
-Unplug the Bluetooth device
-Install Widcomm, don't make a reboot
-If Widcomm complains about license file - uninstall existing Widcomm - no reboot - then repeat previous step (I had 4.0.1.700 installed)
-Kill the processes BTTray.exe and BTSTAC~1.EXE in the Task manager (BTSTAC~1.EXE may not be running at this point)
-Rename the 4 files to replace to .original
-Copy the patched files to their locations
-Insert the bluetooth device
-Reboot
-For Microsoft owners the MS enumerator and radio device driver will install
-Go into hardware managment and then specify device driver - don't search(not the MS ones - it will be the plain looking one at the end of the list)
-The MS drivers will disappear and the Widcomm icon in the system tray will become active and will allow you to configure as normal.
-No need to worry about the intellipoint/intellikey software it will stay installed and continue to work.
Hey this might be slightly off topic but I bought the BT007Si as it supports A2DP. I paired my device, figured out the awfull software interface for this odd software and connected the headphones. How do I tell if its the older crappy audio or if its highquality stereo? It sounds like its good quality and sounds like stereo but I've been wrong before.
Also while I'm at it does anyone know how (w/ the software that was included I think) to make headphones automatically connect whenever they are turned on? I'd rather not have to go into the BT manager every time.
Using the supplied drivers w/ the headphones paired I get a beep from the headphones every minute or so ONLY when there is no audio. The beep sounds like the familiar beep you hear when you hit the play/pause or song foward/back. Odd this only happens when there is no audio. If you play a song or game it works just fine.
More edits: I tried installing widcomm 4.0.1.2101 per instructions I found here. It installed just fine, no license errors etc. but it doesn't work at all. When I try to search for devices i get told that no bluetooth device is connected. (seems it doesn't see my dongle?) Is this beacause its bluesolie (sp?) based?
Thanks for any help you can give.

WOOHOO, I got my D-Link 120 to work correctly with my Motorola BT820 in A2DP mode. Works perfectly, and I like the fact that it's the only BT1.1 device I've ever seen ever successfully use A2DP :-). I followed CrayZactry's instructions to the letter, but I also added this to the ini file so it would detect the D-Link adapter. It found the Windows driver on the restart first, but I forced it to use CSR USB Bluetooth DOngle, and A2DP works GREAT!.
%CSR.DeviceDesc%=BTWUSB, USB\VID_0A12&PID_0001 ; CSR VID&PID
(put it in the [WIDCOMM.NTx86.5.1] section. I can post my btwusb if it would help)
I want to know if version 2101 driver supports A2DP(stereo headset)?
I successfully make 2101 work on my DELL laptop, which originally was installed with Toshiba driver. But I cannot make A2DP work.
Any help?

Anyone have help for a near-novice who cannot get the Widcomm stuff to synch via Bluetooth since the Blackberry Device Manager SW still has the Bluetooth option grayed out?
I have read the problem is an XP/SP2 driver contention with unsigned drivers; I have read others referring to a patch for this. Would updating my Widcomm SW help? If so, what version? Also where to get it, patches, etc.? I have read lots of information, but little of it folds together clearly in my mind (re: a timeline, links, and a real, complete tesitimonial). I would LOVE to get this right! I will then author a complete study on how to do this for an impatient fool and place it on this site.
I just need help pulling together the 1000's of hints I have read into one procedure.

Someone else has asked this unsuccessully...but has anyone managed to get this to work using any Logitech Bluetooth Hub, particularily from the MX5000 desktop?
I'm having a lot of trouble figuring this out.
Logitech changed its BT dongle to MS Stack since they announce DiNoVO 2.0 and their other BT HUB with BT 1.2 or 2 version. So, I suspose that the method to mod MS BT hub will work with Logitech, but you may need to put a correct device number (USBDEV and PID). I am now using DiNovo Laser (2nd upgraded) since this Widcomm seemed not working well as it sometimes shut down my keyboard and mouse until one day, both my 1st DiNovo die... :( Anyway, if you need only to use Keyboard and mouse, try staying with the driver they provide ;)
Hope this help.

Download Bluetooh update from Toshiba itself, now it is version 4.3 which support bluetooth stereo. The Toshiba BT software is based on Widcomm version 4 and the new 4.3 version work great on my tablet M200. Point to note that you need to get risk on setting with Bluetooth stereo headset since the Toshiba BT software will check for DRM header. There is work around to disable this setting, which I managed to do so :D.

I've found it quite torturous to download these drivers from http servers as most links are dead and the one that I found that worked ran at dial-up speed. The quickest and easiest way I've found of getting hold of the drivers is to search for "4.0.1.2101" in eMule where it is available pre-patched!
Good Luck,

Because 5.xx version doesn't work for everyone...I was pulling my hair out trying to get stereo headphones to work with 5.xx...in less than a day i got 4.0.1.2101 to work with a 1.2 bt dongle and it works well, with great range, and all the avrcp functions to boot!

hello everyone
i installed the driver from billyx following his instructions on the begenning of this thread.
dunno if it's caused by the overwriting the files in system32 directory, but after restart my notebook is symply.. half-dead :( i can power on, but there appears nothing but the startup screen with IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad logos.. there should be boot after this, but nothing happen. system just hangs up and nothing can help him, i can't get even to bios :(
notebook was in the standby mode and i carried him from work before installation, so i suppose it's a HW problem, maybe bios chip is damaged, or something... just cant believe some files in windows could cause THIS kind of hangup :(
does anybody know how to fix this please?
thx

Hi, Thank you for sharing and I am downloading this software to see how it works, once again, thank you so much
Hello!
Many thanks to everyone - I finally managed to put my bluetooth devices to work.
I have an old no-name BT USB dongle with CSR chip VID_0A12&PID_0001.
First I upgraded the firmware using DFU Wizzard obtained from Bilionton http://www.billionton.com/website/download/driver/Bluetooth_old/1.4.2.11-N/1.4.2.11-N.htm
and Generic CSR Firmware found elsewhere, ignoring the fact that backup of existing firmware was not possible  .
Then I had to find Widcomm drivers v. 4.0.1.2101 to use the patch supplied by billyx (see the first post) - many links were out of date, so here I post the location I found: http://www.x-micro.com/driver/DRV-XBT-DG5X&6X%20-%20BTW4.0.1.2101.zip
After first try I got unpleasand message "Could not find any bluetooth devices" :(. It turned out, that my device wasn't listed in btwusb.inf. I completely removed the instalation.
Supported by post by Vexamus at another great forum http://www.dev-hack.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1297
I manually insterted needed lines to btwusb.inf:
ExcludeFromSelect = USB\VID_0A12&PID_0001
%CSRGENERIC.DeviceDesc%=BTWUSB, USB\VID_0A12&PID_0001 ; *** my device ***
also adding the following to [strings] and appropriate language sections:
CSRGENERIC.DeviceDesc= "Generic CSR Bluetooth Module"
Then I reinstalled it just like billyx described. Unfortunatelly killing BTTray was not enough, and there was no BTStackServer.exe in my process list  , so I just rebooted to safe mode and replaced the files with patched ones. After plugging in my device I got nice message about installing "Generic CSR Bluetooth Module". And then everything worked.
BTW: if you need the newer version of drivers, you may use links in Vexamus post, I simply didn't want to wait for another download.
Good luck!

I have the same exact old bluetooth dongle (no-name, CSR chip). I am downloading DFU.zip from billionton, but I cannot find a "generic CSR firmware" anywhere. Could you e-mail me the firmware to flash this CSR dongle to BT V1.2?
Currently downloading the widcomm driver 4.X.X.2001- how do I patch this to work with my CSR dongle?
Thanks for any help pointing out the instructions and/or retrieving the firmware.

Hello all,
it seems there is still some confusion around the BT driver versions and the btwusb.inf patching. I will try to explain the method the best way I can in order to try to explain the various problematic situations that can occur during this process.
Firstly, people are still using the 4.x WIDCOMM driver because this is the most stable and compatible version (especially regarding A2DP) with older BT chipset firmwares including NON Broadcom native ones (read: CSR). This means that you should be able to install the 4.0.1.2800 version as it is, with no additional inf mods because the device support is rather broad (but of course not complete). WIDCOMM with the 5.1.x generation drivers decided no longer to support other brands apart from Broadcom so the inf files are severely "restricted" to this hardware.
It is naturally possible to add support for CSR devices, which I personally tried with the latest drivers. However, A2DP will not work nor will the old headset mono low quality support. File transfer and all the other older functions do though, but we want the most supported functions possible don't we?
1 - LOCATE YOUR BT HARDWARE VID&PID
Now BEFORE you install or even remove your older BT drivers, you should check what VID&PID your Bluetooth hardware has because you might need this info to patch the inf file. There are several ways of doing this. The easiest is to open the device manager (right click on my computer, select manage then select the device manager). From the device manager panel, expand your BT key and select the BT device. Right click on it and select properties -> details and copy the USB\VID_XXXX&PID_....\ to a text file - you will need this for further reference. You actually need the part up to the second backslash as this is what you will need to edit your inf file if you need to.
2 - BTWUSB.INF PATCHING
Now that you have your VID&PID data, you need to see if the WIDCOMM package you have supports your BT hardware. This description refers to the 4.0.1.2800 version even if the same applies to the 5.1.0.1100, but not latter versions as they inserted a filter driver - anyhow I have had success on 2 laptops with the 4.x version which works fine with A2DP). Expand your WIDCOMM install files if you already haven't and locate the btwusb.inf file and open it with you favourite editor (or just double click on it to open it with notepad).
Now search the file for the VID&PID code of your BT hardware. Remember you only need the part until the second backslash. For example my Sony VAIO CSR VID&PID are:
USB\VID_044E&PID_3003\5&1CC9C7A4&0&2
What you really need is:
USB\VID_044E&PID_3003\
Or simply search for what is between the slashes (VID_044E&PID_3003).
If you're lucky, you will find at least 3 entries (One in the Excludefromselect and 2 in the WIDCOMM sections, one for XP and the other for W2K). If you're lucky and you find them, skip to the INSTALL section. If you're not, don't despair yet. You can add your VID&PID manually to the inf file even if you might need to try a couple of entries as you don't specifically know what properties your BT Hardware needs (SUSPEND1, BTWUSB etc). I suggest you start by creating a line in the Excludefromselect section with your VID&PID. For ex for my SONY TR5 which wasn't supported I used the BTWUSB descriptor and created the following entry under [ControlFlags]:
; Sony TR5MP
ExcludeFromSelect = USB\VID_044E&PID_3003
And further down in the [WIDCOMM.NTx86.5.1] section I added the actual driver reference which you also should do with your own VID&PID and description of course:
%SONY.DeviceDesc%=BTWUSB, USB\VID_044E&PID_3003 ; my Sony TR5
Notice that I already had the SONY.DeviceDesc variable specified in my inf file (it is located further downwards with the other brands) so I used that (remnant from an older WIDCOMM driver which was not cleaned up in this release). If you wish to add your own as you haven't located the variable amongst the brands, you can just add it under the [strings] section (beware there are as many sections as the languages supported with their codes - you can launch the setup forcing a specific language by running setup.exe /L <language code>). For example:
SONY.DeviceDesc="Sony Bluetooth Device"
in the case of my Sony VAIO (the part at the beginning must match the part in the driver section without the % signs).
So now save your inf file (be sure to copy your original inf file first) and install the drivers.
3 - INSTALL WIDCOMM
It is best to start with a clean install, with no BT drivers present. So uninstall your existing BT drivers and reboot. When your pc reboots it might ask you for some drivers if your BT hardware is integrated and enabled such as in modern laptops, just press cancel and ignore the request and go ahead and launch the WIDCOMM install. While the WIDCOMM drivers are installing, you might get a "no device found" error. Please don't panic yet. Press cancel and let it continue the install and finish if it does this and check the additional notes below.
Remember that you will either need the patched WIDCOMM files or the license patcher to enable the driver. I prefer the license patcher (version 1.6 I think) as this has always worked for me. Pretty easy to use, just launch it, select your BT hardware from the drop down menu and press SAVE. If you want to save the .dat and reg file you can choose save as and save them somewhere.
ADDITIONAL NOTES - PLEASE READ
if XP goes ahead and re-installs a BT driver without asking your for anything after you have uninstalled your old BT drivers or you get the no device error during install, this means windows has located an alternative inf file which you will need to rename probably because your PC is branded with an oem preinstallation image (typical behaviour) or your BT hardware is detected by the Microsoft BT driver. You will need to search for a drivers folder if your laptop is branded and has an embedded BT module ("swsetup" on hp machines for ex or "drivers" on sony) and locate the BT drivers, then simply rename that folder entirely (add an underscore or something) so the system will be unable to locate the drivers and reinstall them. You might also need to locate under the \WINDOWS\INF folder (you need to have the hide hidden folders disabled to see this folder) an oemxxx.inf file that refers to your current BT hardware and rename it if still installs the BT hardware once you've uninstalled the old drivers. I suggest you also rename the file "bth.inf" to bth.old or something. This is the microsoft BT inf file which you really don't need now and is better removed to avoid confusion.
Be careful with what you do in here as you need to be certain you have located the right inf file or you can mess up the drivers. Any additional inf file added to the system (read: hardware not natively supported by windows and installed by you or the manufacturer) not Microsoft native is named "oemxxx.inf" where xxx is a number starting from 1. You can use a text search in the inf folder to help you out locating BT inf files. You may locate many files, but only one has the Hardware ID (VID&PID) of your device, so use the VID&PID as search key for locating relevant inf files.
Once you have located the suspect inf and renamed it, check the device manager again for your BT hardware key and "uninstall" it, then press the "refresh" icon (you must select at least a device on your device manager for these icons to appear). If you have correctly removed the problematic inf (not the new WIDCOMM ones if you have already installed the drivers!) your system should automatically install the new ones (you should see a double key, a BT Enumerator and your Bt Device) if you have already installed the new drivers or if you haven't it may prompt you for drivers after which you will press cancel and install the new WIDCOMM BT Stack.
In any case, after you have resolved the situation and installed the drivers, you should see the 2 BT devices in your device manager, the BT enumerator and the BT device. If you see them, you are ok and can start to use the BT stack (you will need to use the license patcher of course). It may bug you once that you have a couple of billion negative days left for the trial version but that's normal.
It is mandatory to not have any prior BT drivers around as the WIDCOMM installer may not be able to remove them and install his ones properly. This will lead to the no bt device error, which doesn't necessarily mean the drivers are not working, but simply that they aren't loaded as there are other ones interefering. Also, if you patched the inf file youself, be certain that the string you inserted is correctly spelled and placed in the right sections. Confront your syntax with the other entries to see if it is ok.
I hope this explanation was comprehensive and precise enough. I realise that some steps (the patching and driver removal) may not seem easy to non IT personnel, but a more detailed description of the patching process should help (well, I hope it doesn't create any further confusion!).
Have fun!

Can somebody upload this or give some link for the 4.0.1.2800? As I read in the forum this are the last one good for Headset Stereo Audio profile A2DP and also working with CSR devices.
Are there any others (like Bluesoleil) that may work?
Thanks.

Juan,
a quick google search would have helped you - this stuff is not difficult to find on the net. Go here:
http://members.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?driverid=623074
Choose the free download with ads, and download the file. If you need to patch the btwusb.inf file, unzip it (it is a self extracting exe) then patch the inf file as explained in my prior post then run the setup. You will need to download the license patcher of course which I'm sure you can find by yourself (google "widcomm license patcher 1.8").
Good luck!

Thanks DaIceMAn. Don't think I didn't search for them on google or this forum. I couldn't find them here and sorry I didn't spot them in google I checked again and you are right. It was there on the first results! Silly me. But I promise I really searched.
I already had the license patcher.
Thanks.
Can you or anybody confirm that this is the best option for Stereo headsets and CSR devices?

That's what I am using right now with both my laptops. No problems! I tested all the newer releases and had no luck on A2DP, so this older release is the way to go for CSR chipsets and A2DP!
