Sony ericsson w800i is a nice phone. the music player sound awsume how ever its not a symbian phone so you cant get all these wicked software/applications for it and its not 3g. it your decision. i have one i and i also have the 6630. my advise would be upgrade to it but still keep 6680

Hey cletusarrarr, you don't need any seperate software to show your call timer. Just go to log then choose settings and then select show call duration. I too was frustrated when i first got my 6630 ,but i managed to find this. Glad to be of help dude :)

you must do these 2 things
- go to call settings and turn on <summary call>
- go to log, settings and choose yes to <show call duration>

if you do the 2nd only, you won't be able to view the running time while you're using the phone, it will just give you the duration after the call.

its seems to be a default to save only on c:/ i use 3230 and i cant save on any disc then C:, maybe in next version (if this will be)

there is a bug in nokia 6680 whenever you open the phone book and then exit it using the application itself the application still keeps on running in the background (though it is not listed in the running apps menu the one which comes by long pressing the menu button thoug it is listed in appman) in order to exit the application completely use the long press application manager to exit. if there is anyone who is not facing this problem then post his firmware

when it opens in real player. Stop the track. And in the Real Player Menu u will find the option to SAVE the clip. SImply save it to whichever folder in ur phone u want! :)

One question - since installing one of the SMPDA releases I now have an "SMPDA Club" image on my main Nokia 6630 screen. It's sitting above the date. If I changes themes it is still there! I have run virus checkers which have found nothing and tried to search for this image file on my phone - no luck there either!

restart your phone and post your result!
its just an operator logo....remove it like this

this case is different with 3230, when i press button to activate PTT 3230 inform that to activate PTT need setting first.
in 6630, he do nothing. there's sumthing wrong ?

I've N6681

many times i open image gallery & try to watch TV online....

or something like online video streaming

or when using some programms like photorite, real one player....

my phone says "Memory full, plz close some applications & try again."

when i check for applications working in backgorund via holding down menu button...

it shows nothing but the telephone icon...

it means none of the applications are working...

still the program gives the same error "Memory full, plz close some applications & try again."

i've more than 5mb space on phone & having 512mb MMC card with only around 100mb of data including appications, songs & games...

then i restart my phone & that particular application works fine...

any solution ???

is there any program like... task manager ????

My old 6600 did the same. My 6680 is showing signs of this problem.

I read somewhere that you may not be closing the application correctly.

Eg. After opening, say, contacts, you have to close it using the right key – the one that says EXIT.
Any other way of closing still leaves the previously opened program in memory.

Same here with the reboot, sorts it out.

Also, put all your stuff (vids, pics, apps, etc.) on the card, leaving the phone as empty as possible.

Try AppMan and FExplorer, to clean ya phone, compress mem and the rest.

FExplorer lets you look in your phones memory, including the system folder,
C: phone
D: ram
E: card
Z: rom
If you install a program and decide you don’t like and remove it, just like windows, it leaves all sorts of junk behind!
So, if you know the name of the thing you’ve removed and see a reference to it in memory you can delete it, therefore freeing up memory…
BE VERY CAREFUL OF WHAT YOU REMOVE
Programmers use some strange file names so you will only ever be able to remove all remains by knowing what every single file is!!! Not good.
AppMan will just compress memory and show you what ya phone runs when its on, probably does more.
When Im on WAP and download Java or SIS files they are temp stored on,
E: system/temp/...
So before I install, I COPY TO
E: others/...
and later can put the file on my computer, or send to a like minded friend and still install there and then.
FExplorer is FREE and one of the best, just as good as the ones you pay for, the programmer needs a medal!!!
This is the first program on my phone and the last to come off.
Couldnt live without it! Does it all!..

when i check for applications working in backgorund via holding down menu button...

it shows nothing but the telephone icon...

it means none of the applications are working...

still the program gives the same error "Memory full, plz close some applications & try again."

i've more than 5mb space on phone & having 512mb MMC card with only around 100mb of data including appications, songs & games...

then i restart my phone & that particular application works fine...

any solution ???

is there any program like... task manager ????

so tht i can check for the unncessary applicaitons working in the background

My 6680 does the same. I'd essentially blame it on the poor memory management of the phone... will wait till i get an upgrade for the OS.

My old 6600 did the same. My 6680 is showing signs of this problem.

I read somewhere that you may not be closing the application correctly.

Eg. After opening, say, contacts, you have to close it using the right key – the one that says EXIT.
Any other way of closing still leaves the previously opened program in memory.

Same here with the reboot, sorts it out.

Also, put all your stuff (vids, pics, apps, etc.) on the card, leaving the phone as empty as possible.

Try AppMan and FExplorer, to clean ya phone, compress mem and the rest.

Hey guys.First of all let me thank all the contributors who have kept this wonderful thread alive.

Folks I got a Nokia 6630 yesterday and I`am facing a strange issue.I`am from
India and I bought the phone with bill in India.Now the problem is that I wanna use the MP3 songs stored in my MMC as the ringtone.I can do this by two ways at the moment.

The first way is to move the MP3 song from MMC to phone mem and then select it directly through the profile and the 2nd way is by playing the song in the track list and then stopping it and then setting it as a ringtone.

The problem is that the songs which are on my MMC don`t show up when I`am using the profile personalize option.This stands true for any profile and any song that I select.

I have a friend who also owns a 6630 made in Finland phone and for him the songs on MMC do show up in profile and he can choose them directly from there.

Also I would like to add that in my phone I can see 2 ringtone options for line 1 and line2 and for my friend there is only 1 option.We have racked our brains for a long time on this one but in vain.

I would really appreciate if one of you highly intellectual people can shed some light on this matter.

man...nothing wrong with the phone....only the software version.....
the firmware u have doesnt display mp3 files in the select ringtone menu...i have seen that problem in lotsa UK Vodafone and UMTS phones....just firmware limitations...i suggest if u can set it from the gallery u dont need to go for a software update....cos the nokia service centres are charging a lot for it...
besides they end up screwing ur phone more that rectifying its fault.....
just leave the original firmware!wont make much of a difference!

I tried to copy the two directories: ROUTE66 on the root of E: (External 512 Mbyte Flash MMCDV) and other dir e:\system\apps\route66 in the same External Memory but:

I have installed before TOM TOM 5.6 and this works well (ok sometimes voices are not good and with noise)

It's not showing up in the profile personalize menu coz u might have pasted it in some other folder....

Paste all your MP3's in "E:/Sounds/Digital/" (E:/ is your MMC) Only then would they show up in the profile personalize menu

Secondly if u bought this nokia with bill&warranty u should go to nokia and update it's firmware to the lastest v5.03.08 available at Nokia Care Centre,Phenoix Mills, Lower Parel... if u are in mumbai

no need of any special mbm makers...

just design an operator logo using any image editor (e.g. photoshop, fireworks...)

& save that file as .bmp

then rename the extention of the file for .bmp to .mbm

that's it

all symbian 60 will understand the format...

yah the logo size will be little bit bigger...

but will work fine

this trick works fine with my N6681.

i've designed my logo in .bmp format then placed it in to my mobile & renamed it .mbm...

yes i'm using 6680 and it's working with everything not only opera !! netfront, and original nokia app web. it's working just fine. make sure of the bt connection in ur pc and check all the steps carefully coz it took me more than 2 hours trying.

i have problem with this app.
i've set to whitelist only & hidden number Rejected mode.
the icon in 'front page' still appear as whitelist mode but if there are incoming calls from other number which not include in whitelist & call from hidden number this app cant handled.
i mean... this app still receive other numbers and hidden numbers when activate this mode.
then i check file ACM.app in ACM folder, it dissapear. :confused:

1. I AM USING THE NOKIA 6630...IT TAKES GREAT IMAGES BUT....VIDEO QUALITY IS VERY VERY LOW...HOWEVER WHEN I USE ANY OTHER SOFTWARE LIKE "ETI CAMCODER" TO RECORD VIDEOS, THEN VIDEO QUAITY IS GOOD BUT ORIGINAL VIDEO RECORDER IS VERY POOR

here is how to change the icons of the themes in nokia phones like 6680 6681 and 6630 i mean to say that you can use the icons of 1 theme in another just like you could in 6600 (although in this case all the icons are not replaced)
1)open the skins folder (for those who do not know where the skins folder is it is in e:/system or c:/system depending on the fact that where the theme was installed
2)open the ini file of the theme whose icons you wish to change
3) replace the numerical value in front of the 'icons' field with the same numerical value of the ini file of the other theme whose icons you wish to use and then save the file
4) lo!! most of your icons have changed

protected files can not be sent through bluetooth as they have some sort of copyright protection what you can do is that you can install zipman and then forward the zip file through bluetooth the only catch is that the recieveing phone to should have zipman or any other software which can unzip such files

or u can rename the file's extension in Fexplorer (i.e. game.sis to game.sisa) and send via bluetooth...and no need to rename them back after recieving...coz the phone detects it as a sis file

Just rename to .txt or anything and then send.....

it should work.when recvd then rename back with Seleq or any file explorer,
