Hey All,

I have had various problems installing my bluetooth USB dongle. After much frustation, and much searching on Google, I tried installing using another profile.

I have my desktop set up on a domain, so I logged in as the local administrator and tried the install and all worked will. I can now connect to my i-Mate Jam.

So I tried to login using my domain account (which also a local administrator) and guess what. Same problem.

What is the problem?

Well, I get the dongle installed, however when I get to the screen that asks to select services, there is nothing there.

I know that it is some issue with my Windows profile (Windows XP SP2) but not sure how to fix it. Help?

Cheers,
BaggyG

Hey All,

I figured out what was going on where after the install of WIDCOMM software I could not select any services...

For those that have the same problem it seems to be a wacky registry key.

I did the following to fix:
Uninstall the software (WIDCOMM)
Reboot
Log in using the profile that is not allowing you to select the services (make
sure this user has admin. If not give it to them)
Go to HKCU/Software/WIDCOMM
Try to delete (I couldn't)
Go to the permissions of the key and take ownership (this is why you need admin)
Add the users account to the permissions and give full access
Delete the key

Unfortunatly I had to do this several dozen times becuase while the ownership change seemed to propigate, the adding of user did not.

Once I finally got all the keys deleted, I was able to reinstall and it more or less worked.

I how have the problem with "no local bluetooth device". Any help?

Cheers,
