This is a post to help everyone that has a Samsung Z serie mobile that is locked and/or freezed.
The explanation for how to do is already on this forum but to make it easier for everyone to find it, I'm making my 1 for all (Z series phones) post.
The supported phones for this process are (the Z series phones):
(as listed in the program)
SGH-Z140
SGH-Z140V
SGH-Z300
SGH-Z300M
SGH-Z500
SGH-Z500V
SGH-ZM60
SGH-ZV30
SGH-ZX10
To unlock and/or unfreeze these phones you must follow the next steps:
- Download and install QUALCOMM UNLOCKER (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=39RITNDZ)
- Install the propper USB drivers for your mobile (if it comes with CD, if that CD has the USB drivers, it's those ones that you should use, otherwise, download: http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.com/downloadfile/ContentsFile.aspx?CDSite=HQ&CttFileID=380589&CDCttType=SW&ModelType=N&ModelName=SGH-Z500&VPath=SW/200505/20050526174209031_USBDriver.exe).
- Have the proper USB cable for your mobile (if it comes with one, it's that one that you should use).
- After having your phone correctly connected to your computer (using the USB cable) and turned ON (with or without the SIM inserted), set the mobile modem COM port as one between port 2 to port 9 (ports 2 and 9 included). [Note]
- Connect (with something like a metallic wire for example) the 2nd and 3rd pins of the COM1 port (behind your computer), like the example below (imagine it like a COM - 9 pinned - port):

- Before attempting to unlock your mobile (though everything looks OK), click on the "Read Settings" to be completely sure that the program is completely detecting your mobilephone and to make it able to unlock it (by reading the phone's internal codes).
- After all the previous steps... Press UNLOCK. It will remove all the phone locks and the phone freeze (if needed).
[Note]: To set the COM port, run the QUALCOMM UNLOCKER program and click on "Check Modem", then, in the "Phone and Modem Options" menu, click on the "Modem" tab, select your mobilephone on the modem list and then click proprieties. In the modem proprieties menu, you must click on the "Advanced" tab and then click on "Advanced Port Settings". In the "Advanced Port Settings menu, there should be a dropdown list, in the bottom of the window, to select the desired COM port for your mobile. The port must not have 2 digits - like COM10 or above - and it's not convenient to be set as COM1. Select one of the unused and confirm everything by clicking all "OK" buttons.
Then you'll have your phone completely free of lockings and freezings. I did it with my own Z300 and, after doing it just like I described, it finally worked.

I think you should post pinout, coz Z500 & Z140V have different cable connector.

Yeah, that trick should work. I never tested it 'cause I never wanted to and now I don't need it anymore. The reason I never used it is that it doesn't exactly unlock the phone; it works because there probably is a bug on the programming of the phones that makes them ignore the other type of network locking by auto-locking the actual SIM's network. So it's not the real unlocking of the phone; it's just a way of making the phone work with the SIM you want by locking the phone to the SIM's network with an different type of locking that seems to work by itself beside the other lockings. I'm also not sure that those codes remove "phone freeze" and I guess not because it's not their function to remove it (but it could also happen as it isn't even supposed to unlock any phone... just some, in some operators). It's an illusionall unlock, but for ocasional situations it's probably more usefull because it's quick.
If anyone really wants to unlock and/or unfreeze the phone, it should do it the way I did and that it's explained above.
About the cable connector, I just said above that the person should have the proper USB cable for it's phone. I did not said which cable is, but I guess all the phones bring it in it's box (at least they should, just like mine).

But what the difference with the Z105 Unlocker??? I always unlock Z500 with it.

There is pratically no difference... but this version has more data so it is more specific and so is safer.

I couldn't get the above program working for me :( . But I have successfully unlocked two Samsung Z104v's ;) .
I used the Samsung_Z105_Z107_Z300_Code_Reader_2_0_2 program (http://phonexpo.net/Software%20Applications/New%20Folder/Samsung_Z105_Z107_Z300_Code_Reader_2_0_2.rar) with the USB cable that comes with the phone, the LG U8120 USB/Com cable didn't seem to work for me with the Samsung_Z105_Z107_Z300_Code_Reader_2_0_2 program.
Anyway I'm happy :D , one was locked to Vodafone UK the other to Vodafone Ireland.

cable pin out r 100% ok tested by me,and for cable connector use the LG cable of 7050, 8110. and make ur own cable.i've made my own z130 cable according to the pinout posted by Morfeus,
phone is reconized by windows XP , but unlock soft don't work or something is missing in pinout

Could please someone help me with phone freezed.
first of all i dont got serial port on this laptop only usb.....
second phone turns off after a few seconds i put the usb on the phone.
I have got nsdongle/agere attack Z500 cable i have been able to read the codes with nsdongle cracked.... but i cannot put these codes in phone stays freezed now is my question i have tried several times winimei but i didnt succeed is there another way to repair this mobile ?...

There is no support in Qualcomm Unlocker for the dutch release of the vodafone presets . :p
I,m hesitant to follow procedure and have my phone reset to different values than needed for .nl network. :(

i have a z300 and thanks to you i hoping that i can unlock my phone. I got the usb cable with my phone, but when i try to install the software of UNLOCK_IRELAND an error occured (mscomm32.ocx or something else is missing) .
So can you give an update of this software or help me for it.

I couldn't get the above program working for me :( . But I have successfully unlocked two Samsung Z104v's ;) .
I used the Samsung_Z105_Z107_Z300_Code_Reader_2_0_2 program (http://phonexpo.net/Software%20Applications/New%20Folder/Samsung_Z105_Z107_Z300_Code_Reader_2_0_2.rar) with the USB cable that comes with the phone, the LG U8120 USB/Com cable didn't seem to work for me with the Samsung_Z105_Z107_Z300_Code_Reader_2_0_2 program.
Anyway I'm happy :D , one was locked to Vodafone UK the other to Vodafone Ireland.

I bought my girlfriend a z104v for xmas, it was locked to voda but I thought "no probs", I'll have a quick hunt on the net. One day later and I had managed to track down the UMTS programme but all searching for how to use the f**kin thing had failed, I was about to give up when I read your post.
You cut the bull**** and give it to us in plain language, after two days of hunting the internet and failing to get the programme to work, your tutorial had the phone unlocked in five minutes flat.

BTW, if the above link is dead I hunted my copy down on the e-mule network, download emule plus, search for
"Samsung UMTS WinIMEI" and if the file is 3,307 bytes then it's kosher and you can go ahead.

Tried with and without SIM. Both ways I got the same result.... :( :(
Tried with a Z130 and with a Z500 USB cables. I do have another USB cable (USB/PS2) and as I have E720 and U8110 PS2 I could try, but when inserted this cable ask for a driver and it is not the USBtoSerial or Samsung3G drivers...
NOTE: Even making jump on pins 2-3 or 3-4 I always get a "Can't Open COM1" error message. Any advice?

What if I don't have USB cable, but got LG 3G connector? How to modify it to be able to unlock ZV10?
I got a Z140v that I have been trying to unlock for some time now. I have even paid someone from another forum who said they could give me an unlock code for it and he just ended up giving me the codes to set the auto network and subset locks, which do not work for me. I will try and get my money back from him I think.
Anyway, I followed the instructions in this thread and have got further than before, except I am getting a problem where winIME exits after i click on "read settings" button. Lots of promising looking stuff whizzes by in the status screen on the left, but it closes before I can read it properly.
Anyone else had this problem? Any idea how I can fix this? I tried a few different versions of WinIME that I found but they all did the same thing.
I did the com1 trick with an old connector and that is OK and I am using the USB cable that came with the phone. I downloaded the latest CDMA drivers from the samsung site.

Yeah, that trick should work. I never tested it 'cause I never wanted to and now I don't need it anymore. The reason I never used it is that it doesn't exactly unlock the phone; it works because there probably is a bug on the programming of the phones that makes them ignore the other type of network locking by auto-locking the actual SIM's network. So it's not the real unlocking of the phone; it's just a way of making the phone work with the SIM you want by locking the phone to the SIM's network with an different type of locking that seems to work by itself beside the other lockings. I'm also not sure that those codes remove "phone freeze" and I guess not because it's not their function to remove it (but it could also happen as it isn't even supposed to unlock any phone... just some, in some operators). It's an illusionall unlock, but for ocasional situations it's probably more usefull because it's quick.
If anyone really wants to unlock and/or unfreeze the phone, it should do it the way I did and that it's explained above.
About the cable connector, I just said above that the person should have the proper USB cable for it's phone. I did not said which cable is, but I guess all the phones bring it in it's box (at least they should, just like mine).

I think because the unlocking commands are going into the phone through the air and they get corrupted in the air. With bluetooth it's going through radio frequencies, which is reliable.

My try did results......................
Download the latest CDMA drivers from the samsung site, i used a cheap Samsung data-link USB cable "PCB180USE", connect the phone to USB-port switched on with working sim (Locked on Operator), check what COM port the Samsung CDMA USB Driver has in the control panel under Phone and Modem options (all com-ports supported, com 26 in my case).
Run cracked NS Dongle chose SGH-Z107 and com-port, push "Get Info" Push "Unlock".
100% Unlocked without problems !
It should work well with the original cable that follows the phone, but i have
not tried.

I have a Z105 that was unlocked using NSdongle. It was unlocked sucessfully but phone could not make any calls. I was told by elco to flash the phone . Can this program be used to do so.
PS I have used QUALCOMM UNLOCKER to unlock it again and now the phone menu moves slower (like sony ericsson slow) and the phone still cant make calls. There was no z105 in the model option so I used Z140.
Please Elco or any one can you help ???

But!...
You have to make sure that you something connect to the 2 pins something like a coper wire from a bike-light or something :S, it works!
And also the problem was on my path, that he didn't accept the unlock if i put the sim in the phone, so maybe you have to make sure the sim is out, before you do the "unlock thing" or "read setting"
Restart the program and phone and it shall work!
i got an PASS on everyting!

this solutions works perfect for qualcomm 3G phones, if problem finding prog you can also try searching winimei for certain models yesterday unlocked z140v with winimei z140v 100% working with this procedure...
My Z140 V on French SFR was blocked then on SFR (I want to use Orange) then freezed when I tried some numbers (#xxxx* etc..) found on the web to unblock it (after 3 times it was freezed).
proredure run very well (11 s!) with QualcomUnlocker and the strap on the PC Com plug.

To unlock and/or unfreeze these phones you must follow the next steps:
- Download and install QUALCOMM UNLOCKER (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=39RITNDZ)
- Install the propper USB drivers for your mobile (if it comes with CD, if that CD has the USB drivers, it's those ones that you should use, otherwise, download: http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.com/downloadfile/ContentsFile.aspx?CDSite=HQ&CttFileID=380589&CDCttType=SW&ModelType=N&ModelName=SGH-Z500&VPath=SW/200505/20050526174209031_USBDriver.exe).
- Have the proper USB cable for your mobile (if it comes with one, it's that one that you should use).

I couldn't get the above program working for me :( . But I have successfully unlocked two Samsung Z104v's ;) .
I used the Samsung_Z105_Z107_Z300_Code_Reader_2_0_2 program (http://phonexpo.net/Software%20Applications/New%20Folder/Samsung_Z105_Z107_Z300_Code_Reader_2_0_2.rar) with the USB cable that comes with the phone, the LG U8120 USB/Com cable didn't seem to work for me with the Samsung_Z105_Z107_Z300_Code_Reader_2_0_2 program.
Anyway I'm happy :D , one was locked to Vodafone UK the other to Vodafone Ireland.

Unlock Z140 (Simple) with Cracked NS Dongle

My try did results......................
Download the latest CDMA drivers from the samsung site, i used a cheap Samsung data-link USB cable "PCB180USE", connect the phone to USB-port switched on with working sim (Locked on Operator), check what COM port the Samsung CDMA USB Driver has in the control panel under Phone and Modem options (all com-ports supported, com 26 in my case).
Run cracked NS Dongle chose SGH-Z107 and com-port, push "Get Info" Push "Unlock".
100% Unlocked without problems !
It should work well with the original cable that follows the phone, but i have
not tried.

just unlocked my z500 first time. got a tip for all people tying this. to join pins 2 and 3 on the com1 port i used a jumper switch from the back of an old hard drive, fits perfectly

- After all the previous steps... Press UNLOCK. It will remove all the phone locks and the phone freeze (if needed).
[Note]: To set the COM port, run the QUALCOMM UNLOCKER program and click on "Check Modem", then, in the "Phone and Modem Options" menu, click on the "Modem" tab, select your mobilephone on the modem list and then click proprieties. In the modem proprieties menu, you must click on the "Advanced" tab and then click on "Advanced Port Settings". In the "Advanced Port Settings menu, there should be a dropdown list, in the bottom of the window, to select the desired COM port for your mobile. The port must not have 2 digits - like COM10 or above - and it's not convenient to be set as COM1. Select one of the unused and confirm everything by clicking all "OK" buttons.
Then you'll have your phone completely free of lockings and freezings. I did it with my own Z300 and, after doing it just like I described, it finally worked.

its a .rar file so you will need a program like winrar to acces the files as they are compressed.......

2-install usb driver
3-run the program after forcing to run under windows 98
4-select zx10 and correct usb port and com
5-read phone info
6-press unlock

I've unlocked z500v with NSdongle cracked and LG 3G data cable!
I just wanted to confirm that the routine presented by Minorka at the start of this thread worked just fine :) with a new Samsung SGH-Z500V from Vodafone UK. The handset was originally SIMlocked to the Vodafone network. After following Minorka's script the handset is now accepting SIMs from any of the UK network providers - I tested it with T-Mobile, easyMobile, O2 and 3.
If anyone is having difficulty with the routine please make absolutely certain that you have successfully made a good electrical link between COM1 pins 2 and 3. Someone suggested the jumper plug from a hard disk drive, that worked fine for me as a temporary solution. A more permanent arrangement would be a DB9 connector with pins 2 and 3 soldered across.
I had to get the Z500's CDMA drivers (http://uk.samsungmobile.com/wcms/support/softwaremanuals/softwaremanualinfo/index.jsp?phonemodel=SGH-Z500&swType=SW) from the Samsung UK website - you will probably have to register before being allowed to the download page in this link.
The Qualcomm link in Minorka's post worked well, as did a quick search on eMule, again that someone else on this thread suggested.

Followed all the instructions but say "read master control lock fail" The phone is z140v on vodaphone SpainTried some codes from other posts but now phone is frozen.I used lg8120 cable is this the problem.Please help as need to correct this phone and unlock it.
this method worked for me used jumper on the pins used a samsung usb cable and the Qualcomm Unlocker and 20050804143823625_CDMA_Driver
this was for my samsung sgh-z140v which was freezing and also unlocked it at the same time, now works with orange and 02 sims.
phone was on vodafone uk , once had right cable and pluggedoin jumper to pins at back cable worked fine.
