i had a customer have the same problem. bought a brand new v3 black, sometimes right away, sometimes after 30-45 minutes of usage or more it would say "insert sim" ... during a phone call the call would die, and it would just say insert sim. checked the ovbious to see if the simcard spot was loose or damaged. got fed up after a few weeks and just exchanged it.
no clue what the problem was, but I have seen this.
