hello, i recently brought a D500 from EBay, the phone its self was on O2, i was told it is unlocked for all networks, i put my vodafone Sim card in, yet when i try to ring out, it just ends the call with "call ended" message

with the vodafone sim card in, it shows a full signal, and says vodafone UK at the bottom of the screen, could someone please tell me if there's anything wrong with my phone, my Sim card works fine in my sharp GX-10

and the D500 works fine with my virgin UK sim card?

so

1. is there anything wrong with my phone, is it blocked from Vodafone even tho its supposed to be unlocked from all networks

2. will i be sending it back :(

3. is there anything at all i can do to fix this, as i want the D500 for my vodafone card not my virgin one

i have done a search but couldn't find a reference to my question that was any help

i don't have any cables with my D500 other than the charger, box manual and what not....

is there anything I'm going to need (software or hardware) or is this a duff phone

anyone's help in this matter would be most appreciated

i eagerly await your reply and help

It sounds like the phone is barred mate! does it say on the phone limited services?

nope it doesnt say limited service, it shows a full signal with vodafone, i did a network scan and it comes up with all the networks (wel apart from virgin)

banned? as in imei ban? so i take it the only thing to do is ask for my money back and send the phone back, is there anything i can do about this or is that my only option?

Yep phone looks like it is barred - try an Orange or O2 sim in and u will get no reception whatsover - Limited Service will come up - with Virgin/TMobile u will get reception but wont be able to call out

well i can call out with the virgin Sim in it so it doesn't look like its barred on all networks, just vodafone at the moment, i cant try with a O2 yet as...come to think of it, i don't know anyone with a O2 sim card they all have voda or virgin? lol

well if it is barred I'm not even sure I'm going to be getting my money back unless they didn't know them selves (highly unlikely)

iv heard a lot about this imei changing, how easy is it to do, and what do i need to do it, is it illigal and how would they know if it was changed if i did it?

its strange tho, as the Ebay seller had a good rep

right...how would i go about changing the imei?

has anyone realy heard of anyone getting 5 years inside for changing it?

also, my vodafone is pay as you go, so not registerd to any address, how on earth are they going to find me lol

surly they would have to prove that it was me who changed the imei in the first place, this 5 years stuff sounds like a scare tactic tbh, as i could see it hard to enforce

so... as im old enuff and uglie enuff to take the risk, how the hell do i go about changing it?
