1. How to Enable ActiveX control?
Internet Explorer -> Tools -> Internet Options -> Security -> Internet -> Custom level
Go to ActiveX controls and plug-ins
Enable all ActiveX settings (check Enable or Promt)2. How to check installed version of ActiveX?
Internet Explorer -> Tools -> Internet Options -> General -> Settings -> View Objects...
Look version of AX_DB_CTRL Class (must be 1,0,0,3)3.How to update/reinstall ActiveX control?
Internet Explorer -> Tools -> Internet Options -> General -> Settings -> View Objects...
Delete AX_DB_CTRL Class
Go to DreamBox Firmware (http://dreambox.hk/firmwareupdate.html) page
Install new ActiveX control
Check version of ActiveXTroubleshooting

1. I have the same error. I use Win XP Pro with SP2 with IE 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519.
This is help me to install and use ActiveX Contol.
1. Change next position:
"Automatic prompting for ActiveX controls" to Enable,
"Binary and script behaviors" to Enable,
"Download signed AcriveX controls" to Prompt,
"Download unsigned AcriveX controls" to Prompt,
"Initialize and script ActiveX contols not marked as save" to Enable,
"Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins" to Enable,
"Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting" to Enable.
2. Also add http://dreambox.hk and http://www.dreambox.hk to Trusted Sites (check attached file)
3. Close your browser and delete AX_DB_CTRL_Class from C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files
4. Launch IE browser and go to firmware (http://dreambox.hk/firmwareupdate.html) update page
After this 4 simples points my DreamBox was updated.

I can't get this working... ActiveX control is downloaded and enabled, but nothing happens when i load the page afterwords...
It's just some kind of square in the middle of the text...?

I can't update the box.
I managed to update it when using another computer. I think the update service is not working if you have SP2 installed on Windows.

i have sp2 and works for me. from the start. is just like smart-clip

Now you can activate/update your box from DBSS.
Hardware->DreamBox->Update Firmware

try with latest software 1.14 hardware -> dreambox -> update firmware
