I have heard about certain binary codes sent by SMS which damage / disable / slow down phones, or atleast require a reboot.
I would like more info about these, ie:- how to safeguard against these, recovery, generation, principles involved etc.
Can anyone help please?
if you sent a broken user data header (UDH) by sms to the older DCT3 nokias, it will cause unpredictable results. such as phone reboot when message try to open.
there was also certain unicode characters that cause flashing symbols and other nice thihngs.
i dunno if this all been resolved in the new phones, but you can find info by search google, it was all very old stuff :)
The only sms exploit i know is for the siemens phone, but it is very long time ago.
to destroy 3650 and similiar symbian phone to blinking, you got to keep sending large amount of SMSs / mms till the inbox consumme all space in (c:), if the phone's inbox is on the phone memory (c:).
:D

I need a little more detailed explanation,
If I intend to send a normal text message and cause a phone to malfunction, what should I be aware of?
The recipient phone may be GPRS , WAP enabled, but the user may not have subscribed. He can only receive normal txt messages, OTAs, mono ringtones etc.
Then what?
erm........
Maybe you can send "Smash your phone to the floor now!", hopefull;y it works. :D
It's old topic mate, try to search on google or this forum.
Good Luck...

I found this...
But what is it? Where's the stuff I'm supposed to use?
like we say, it is an old news...
you must have old dct3 phone (for example 3310) with data cable and logo manager software.
the software allow you to send sms through the phone, but typed in computer.
put this character in to the message:
when receiving phone open it, the phone hang.
but it is only for old phones!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
in hex:
/0x03h /0x0Dh /0x0Ah
good luck...

thx..... but 3310 / 3315 are washed out models even here in india, so i dont think it'll work.
Are there any such codes for DCT 4 phones?
(-_-') the answer is "no" mate. forget it...
why are you so eager to put other ppl phones in trouble?? it's a bad karma dude.
try to discover your own bugs man. just read some (big big big) documents about gsm protocol and sms ways. then see if you find a hole :)
