i need some help guyz
i removed the cage/can of v360 to make testpoint to unlock using smart moto.After removing cage the fone has now gone dead.when i connect the fone to power supply and voltage is below 3v it does not short but as soon as i go above 3v it shorts.any ideas or where can i start ?

maybe you remove some resistores near cage

It's called shielding and it's not a good idea too remove it, it's there for a reason or do you know more then Motorola R&D.

Tell me, "Smart boy", if u don't remove the shield how can U make testpoint and how can U unlock this phone?? :mad:
use drill at the tp area. maybe make a hole:D

you can remove the shielding theres nothing wrong with removing it and it shouldnt stuff up the phone unless youve mopped up some other components just make sure youve soldered down as many points as you can after your done..the shielding is there to decrease heat escaping from the phone & also to lessen radiation & other things and stop shorts and things like that
what youve most likely done is heat up the solder for the ICs under the shielding & now they arent connected correctly first things first look at the schematics or another board or watever and see if youcan find any missing resistors if not use the hot air gun and make sure its dead vertical and at least 10cm away from the main board and try reflowing the components around the test point
Note: this can be dangerous unless you are experienced it often causes a large amount of different faults....but
