I trying to get some sort of power control (to turn the power DOWN) using the Widcomm v5 and Broadcom 2045 chipset. Not at all sure about how to do this via a firmware update (or if it can be done?).
Found some power settings in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Widcomm\BTConfig\Gener al
TxPowerHigh
TxPowerLow
TxPowerMedium
They are all at zero - have tried changing them but not noticed much difference.
Anyone got any ideas? (apart from tinfoil - this works but transfer rates are impossibly slow!)

Can you tell me what country code you have in your registry settings?? I think this determines what power levels you can control. I'm in UK and dont have the option to control the power.....

As you know, it is Registry control, not really related to country.
By default, Advanced Setting is disable for all country.

in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Widcomm\BTConfig\Gener al
I have changed the 'DontShowAdvanced' form 0 to 1
(before changing the keys I killed BTStackServer.exe and BTTray.exe - changed values, then restarted BTStackServer and BTTray)
This didn't appear to make any difference (see attached pic) - I can get all the windows apart from the 'Advanced' - how do you view this window?
I also tried changing the ExtendedSettingsMask from a 0 to 1 but no different.
The other TxPowerHigh = 0, TxPowerMedium = 3 and TxPowerLow = 5 are reset everytime BTStackServer starts - so no point in changing them.
PowerLevel = 0 - I've tried changing this a few times, the new value remains, but no difference is made.
