Hi there
I have been using a Billionton BT USB dongle on my HP laptop and all had been working fine. I appear to be using WIDCOMM drivers, rather than MS ones...
Thought I would save myself a USB port and purchased a Zoom PCMCIA Bluetooth card. Installed it and followed the instructions to install software from the Zoom CD. Afterwards, however, I couldn't get my PDA (Dell Axim x50v) to do a BT sync with the laptop as it appears that the COM port numbers it recognises are only COM 4, 7 & 8. In device manager, I only had COM23!!!! I did the stuff about making hidden ports visible (read on another forum about that)...but there are no other ports visible even though I set it to "see hidden". So that's one thing - can't BT sync with my PDA.
Then onto the phone! I have a Nokia 6230i and have used it with the Nokia Software Suite - all worked fine. Now, however, even though my laptop "sees" the phone, it won't now work with the softwae suite.
I've tried rolling back to a previous restore point, but that didn't bring back my port settings. I'm now so fed up with trying to sort this out that I'm almost thinking I need to get a laptop with built in Bluetooth!!....or failing that, to wipe my hard disk and start again!?....such a ball ache though!
Can someone please give me some ideas of what to do next? I have downloaded the Widcomm 5 software, but I'm not really sure what this will do and how to "crack" it??
Any suggestions, please post me here or privately....
Many thanks.
Chris.
