I'm using an Iomega gbu211 usb BT adapter with this driver, however after pairing to my moto ht820, I don't get any audio. I can control windows media player with the headphones (which means the link is good and AVRCP is working), but don't get sound. Any ideas?

when i saw your post this morning, there is only one link for the file on rapidshare, i download this file, then i found the file is corrupt(exactly, the x64 file, so most users didn't need that), so i googled and found another link to this file, so i posted it here for other x64 users like me, i didn't think this needs your permission, yes i DID stole a link from cell-networks corp, but that's none of your buzinezz, you did't actually own the widcomm driver, DID you?

but later, sth strange happened, you edited the post(see the edit time below your post) and added the link i googled there, then you took the blamed on me! that was so called "the thief says he was stolen"?

JimmyZ

i'm not interested in where did you get the file, and plz you do not make any stupid assume on how did i find out that link, so there is a link from the setup.bmp file accroding to your post? you even attach & quoted it in a few posts before.

Great work guys, I just wish widcomm/broadcomm will finally release something working flowlessly. hehe, great forum, when i use bluetooth for the first time, the widcomm with the dongle didn't support Windows Server 2003, i have to switch to WinXP... until months later i find some cracks here:)

even later i bought a new machine and started using Server 2003 x64 edition, then finally the x64 widcomm was uncovered here, great, great phantasm for his/her awesome License Patcher~

I would like to correct my self for the information above. It was wrong and the story goes like this. The same day I installed v 5.1.0.1100 we moved offices and as I said earlier I had problems with this version, but after reverting back to v 5.0.1.2500, which I new it was working properly for the things I am using it, for my surprise I discovered that 5.0.1.2500 behaves the same way as 5.1.0.1100. Then I installed again 5.1.0.1100 but at home where I knew 5.0.1.2500 worked correctly and voiala it all worked as expected. So it looks like in my new offices there must be some interference in the BT signal from somewhere.... So apology...

So Problems Problems Problems....
Installed this new version, but a2dp does not work with my Bluetake i-phono. Also seems to give me problems with my Deluo BT GPS

Installed Bluesoleil VOIP version, patched fine and works, but not with my GPS and my Sony DCR-IP220 video camera. So it is back to 4.0.21 for me which has worked all along. This has just been a waste of time for now. Ooh well....

Or if someone has workarounds, please let me know by posting here.

Stupid question, but when exactly should the patcher be run (and what exactly does it do)?

Here's what I've been doing, that hasn't worked out yet:
Using a DBT-120

1- uninstall the old Widcomms
2- unplug the dongle
3- reboot
4- install widcomm
5- reboot
6- plug in dongle
7- windows xp SP2 does its annoying thing
8- go into control panel, change the CSR driver so it's using the widcomm driver instead of the Microsoft driver
9- watch in frustration as no bluetooth radio is found

Any idea where I'm going wrong?

Thanks in advance

lol.. i've got PCMCIA Billiton Bluetooth.. it has native drivers based on Widcomm ~3.0.

Though, license patcher for 1100 doesnt see it, cause it's not usb:p

Widcomm installs correctly, even detect device, during setup.
But when i click BtTray, it asks for license file.

What's next?)
-----
P.S. i've used licensePatcher from 5.0.2500 in SafeMode, after that widcomm just hang, bttray = white , nothing loads.

You should get the VID and PID and manually enter it in the License Patcher. Then generate a new license file (.dat and.reg). Install as usual.

I don't have a laptop so I can't verify your claim. But in my Windows XP SP2 system, all detected devices are displaying ID's, so I don't see why a PCMCIA device can't have ID's displayed too. AFAIK, WIDCOMM rely on VID and PID to lock the license to its software. Since your PCMCIA bluetooth came with WIDCOMM, it should have these IDs.

Does Windows XP install the default Windows Bluetooth drivers for your PCMCIA device? What version of Windows are you on by the way? You should at least have Windows XP SP2.

Hi friends, this is my first post here, unfortunately it starts with a problem :(

i've downloaded & installed the 5.1.0.1100 version & followed instructions to the best of my abilities but apparently my abilities seem to be limited :)

i'm using a Broadcom dongle, XP SP2, the problem faced is - once the software is installed & driver updated to CSR, the device manager shows 2 things -
Bluetooth Bus Enumerator
CSR USB Bluetooth Device
I presume this is correct; but when i click open 'Bluetooth Devices' in Control Panel, the hardware tab shows nothing, b4 updating to CSR the Microsoft Bluetooth thing was visible here!!!
Can anybody guide me as to where am i going wrong? this has been driving me nuts for so many days

er, yeah - that much is obvious - but i was hoping someone might explain

1) why another driver is required (and why it's not installed with the widcomm setup/installer).
2) Where the csr driver file is 'found'.

secondly, what about this licesene thing? when does that need to be installed. After the 5th step (above)?

How I got my Belkin F8T012 bluetooth adapter working on XP Professional x64 (64 bit) and then was able to hotsync with my TREO 700P :

I thought I needed a widcomm driver and software, but all I needed was already in x64.

All worked well for me but I guess the disclaimer is that you proceed at your own risk.

DO NOT install the Belkin software that comes with the F8T012 adapter, as this will install the widcomm drivers (not supported by x64).

Plug in the dongle into a spare USB device.

When windows asks for the driver just cancel out of this.

Then go to Start, Control Panel, System, Hardware tab, click Device Manager:

You should see something like this:

Click right mouse, select properties, Details tab, select Hardware Ids from the dropdown:

Make a note of the second value (in my case):

USB\Vid_050d&Pid_0012

Then go to:

C:\Windows\inf\bth.inf

And look for the following lines:

;------------- Device section - Start -----------------------

[ALPS.NT.5.1]
ALPS Integrated Bluetooth Device= BthUsb, USB\Vid_044e&Pid_3005
Alps Bluetooth USB Adapter= BthUsb, USB\Vid_044e&Pid_3006

[Belkin.NT.5.1]
Belkin Bluetooth Adapter= BthUsb, USB\Vid_050d&Pid_0081
Belkin Bluetooth Adapter= BthUsb, USB\Vid_050d&Pid_0084

Copy one of the lines above and add your Pid (step from above). Should look something like this:

;------------- Device section - Start -----------------------

[ALPS.NT.5.1]
ALPS Integrated Bluetooth Device= BthUsb, USB\Vid_044e&Pid_3005
Alps Bluetooth USB Adapter= BthUsb, USB\Vid_044e&Pid_3006

[Belkin.NT.5.1]
Belkin Bluetooth Adapter= BthUsb, USB\Vid_050d&Pid_0081
Belkin Bluetooth Adapter= BthUsb, USB\Vid_050d&Pid_0084

Belkin Bluetooth Adapter= BthUsb, USB\Vid_050d&Pid_0012

Not sure what happens if you follow these steps for a device that does not have a device by the same company!

Save and close

Uninstall the unknown USB device in Device Manager.

Remove the USB dongle and then plug it back in.

You will see the “Found New Hardware Wizard” dialog again, but this time select “No, not this time” and then click next.

Then select Advance and next:

Then select “Don’t Search” and Next:

Then select “Belkin Bluetooth Adapter” (this is the link to the inf file) and click next:

This will install the driver supported for XP SP2:

Click finish:

Windows has now installed the dongle but it will also find a Microsoft Bluetooth adapter.

You will have to repeat the above again for this.

You should now get the Bluetooth Devices icon in your Control Panel.

That should be it J

Are you experiencing the usual nags with SetPoint and this BT Stack?

Keyboard lag, keyboard repeating keys, keyboard LCD "freezing" while playing multimedia tracks, mouse lag, high CPU load upon mouse usage etc. etc.

To G0tHm0G,

I am using Dell TrueMobile 350 with WIDCOMM 5.1.0.1100. And my SetPoint version is 3.0. They work together perfectly. No mouse lag at all.

So far the only mouse I used with the lag issue is Dell XPS M2010. So I believe the lag could be the hardware issue.

For me usually when keyboard haven't been used for several minutes lag and repeation occurs. Mouse lags happens only when my computer is on high cpu load, for example when I am converting some divx files to dvd.

@Tseng:

There's a new firmware and BT Stack (Toshiba, of course) for the XPS 2010. Is been for a couple of weeks in the Dell ftp, but they didn't update their support pages till much later.

Link (http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R127655&formatcnt=1&libid=0&fileid=169750)

The 2010's internal BT module is a new revision of the popular "350" module (the "old" 350 is codename "U2" using "Eowyn" firmware and this one is codename "EastFold" using "Greenland" firmware. I think it would make more sense that the "EastFold" revision would use "Eowyn" firmware, but who can fathom Dell's mind...)

This new firmware (Greenland) won't flash "out of the box" in the old 350 modules, it would require some hacking and I don't even know if it would be counterproductive for them.

There's also a new driver set for Dell BT Keyb/Mouse combos but idk if this would apply to the 2010.

Link1 (http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R126612&formatcnt=1&libid=0&fileid=168521)

To: G0tHm0G,
Its very interesting information. Based on the report from WIDCOMM, my Dell BT 350 firmware version is 24.22. Its updated by one of program in Dell previous Toshiba BT stack. I just D/L the driver and use the DFU to update firmware.

How do you get the information regarding the U2 & Eastfold. Is there hardware difference? Can we tell the different verion by Dell P/N?

G0tHm0G
07-04-2006, 07:46
@Tseng:

Got the info of the dongle "codenames" from the new .inf file.

If you open it on a text editor you will see three device ID's related to Dell BT dongles:

Floyd/Pink
U2
EastFold (USB\VID_413C&PID_8120) <- This is the new dongle's ID.

And I got the info from the firmware opening it with an hex editor (i was surprised that DFU would complain about the firmware not being for my 350 so I decided to investigate a bit).

Can't help with the Dell P/N yet ;;

I have a Dell D600 with a truemobile 300 bluetooth chip. I am running the 5.1.0.1100 Drivers and have updated my BT firmware to:
LOADER=bc02x_4hci_bt1.1_16.5_encr56 2002-11-06
STACK=bc02x_8unified_fl_bt1.2_18_0403291415_encr12 8 2004-03-29

I have two questions.
1) When I use the license patch I will periodically get trial version popups. Is there a license patch that will get rid of the popups?

2) What is the best/newest firmware version to use with my chip? Is there a repository of various DFU files I can look at? Thanks.

Cheers,
mpho01

Just wanted to say an awesome release.

Installed on IBM Thinkpad T42 paired with Jabra BT150. All the noise is gone and it works like a charm. Had a funny one when it couldnt find a bluetooth device, I just hit cancel and away it went. Then applied license patch! No reboot required.

Thanks heaps!!!!

Hi :) Thanks for this SW but i have one problem with it. When I installed it, used the License Patcher and rebooted i have error "Cannot load btrez.dll". This file already exists in \system32. What should I do?

I haven't been here in a while - does the license patcher also patch the x64 edition?

Yes it does (assuming you are referring to my license patcher)

To: G0tHm0G,
Its very interesting information. Based on the report from WIDCOMM, my Dell BT 350 firmware version is 24.22. Its updated by one of program in Dell previous Toshiba BT stack. I just D/L the driver and use the DFU to update firmware.

How do you get the information regarding the U2 & Eastfold. Is there hardware difference? Can we tell the different verion by Dell P/N?

I just updated a U2_8103 to an Eastfold_8120 everything seems to be running fine except the new firmware is only encr56 rather than encr128. Does dell publish another firmware that may support 128bit encryption

Hi,

Has anyone solved the problem of the nag screen popping up randomly when using the Widcomm.Bluetooth.Software.Drivers.5.1.0.1100 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showthread.php?p=1869878#post1869878). I have used the license patch to install the drivers but I get the trial product message every so often. I happens most when I am scanning for other bluetooth devices or adding a bluetooth device. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hi mpho01. I used to have that trial nag too. I stumbled in a post (apologies but I was not able to get the link to the post) which I just followed by using License Patcher 1.7 included with the download at the first post. This is what I did and so far for a week no pop-ups:

1. Ran the License Patcher.
2. Selected the VID of my BT device.
3. Chose File -> Save License File, then named it license.dat
4. Copied the generated license.dat to the directory where BTTray.exe was located.
5. Ran the generated license.reg

Btw, am using XP x64.

Does this Driver work with VOIP....Like Skype...

shimh
07-15-2006, 12:32
Yes, sort of. When headset is connected, widcomm automatically set audio in/out to bt headset in skype. You can press talk key twice to initiate bt connection and open skype and dial last number. Press talk key again to terminate the call. It is not that complete as Bluesolie offers.

I wish when I double click the talk key, the headset initiates connection only. And when there is an incoming call, widcomm can auto connect the headset and send a ring.

You should get the VID and PID and manually enter it in the License Patcher. Then generate a new license file (.dat and.reg). Install as usual.

where should i find a step by step guide for the widcomm generic drivers (interested in 5.1.0.1100) wich this tip is part of?
any help is appreciated

I also seem to have no idea how to use the License Patcher or correctly install the Widcomms. When I run the License Patcher, there's a CSR Bluetooth device, and a Generic Bluetooth Enumerator. If I select either one of these and generate a license.dat, then run the installer, it always says it can't find a suitable Bluetooth device when it's installing. Is this normal? Should I proceed with the install then do a have disk on the device? Any help getting this installed would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Seem to work for most part. I can listen to music on my bluetooth headset. However, I have hard time transfering files from my phone.

I have a question on "Bluetooth Bus Enumerator". I can't seem to remove it. If I force the wrong driver on it, then it will let me remove it. However, my bluetooth device will not work afterwards when "Belkin Beluetooth Device" is the only one remaining. On my old Belkin driver, Belkin is the only one showing up. What is Bluetooth Bus Enumerator? Should I leave it? Any advices?

After approx one week and about 49 hours I have loaded my WIDC 5.1.0.1100, with many thanks to KAI!!! and his great tutorial. Now the problem..
I have an EPOX BT-PA03A bluetooth printer ad aper. It was seen using the XP SP2 stack, and Toshiba stack, but was not able to print a test page from either. It is being seen by v5 as well.
The Epox site has the WIDC ver 1.4.2.10. Never got it to load properly.
So now the dongle (a Zoom 4302 af) sees the printer, pairs up but can't locate any services.
I have noticed that the 'Places" window shows only printers that are physically connected to the main.
On Broadcom site it states that printer support would be included in the ver 5 driver package.
I have searched all the inf files in the Widc folder, as well as xp. I have been unable to locate any which refer to the printer or to a bluetooth printer.
ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

Trying to get the HP C4180 printer bluetooth so my desktop and Notebook can use it without wires and without changing the USB every time! Bluetooth is a great concept, I'm just trying to get it to work.

Well I finally have the drivers working. I reloaded XP and loaded the drivers and it worked, then after the initial pairing, it also works with my notebook, I was also unable to pair with my RAZR but now able to do this as well. I will never know why this suddenly worked. The notebook has all the same programs as the desktop, so what the hey. I am currently updating to XP SP2 and everything is still working, now to reload and update all the programs... Then finally try MPT with the RAZR!. I wanted to download pix from the phone and now can!! (after a little seeming)
another good info site that helped is http://www.rovingnetworks.com/documents/SPP-on-pcs.pdf. Tell us some of the workings and bugs of the different stacks.

Can you pair it ok with other devices and use them successfully ?

Adi

Thanks for the superquick response. In short: no. In long: I read you shouldn't add more services than you need since that might complicate matters. I did however add the hands-free audio service the first time i got to the end of the install as well as the stereo audio service, and the hands-free audio service had connected to my headset almost automatically(I don't remember if I instructed it to do so or not). I didn't test it out though, because I didn't have any desire to use it as a headset for a phone...so i disconnected it after figuring out it was the stereo audio service that i wanted: so I can listen to music, etc. (Keep in mind, I've uninstalled, done a system restore, and reinstalled several times now). Now, I'm getting this message also: "Error creating 'Stereo Audio' connection with device 'Motorola HT820'" Is my headset incompatible? Do I need to add something to the btwusb.inf file under win32 to make it compatible? I'll try connecting my treo 700p and get back to you if successful or not. Again, thanks for your quick reply! :)

Adi

YES! I have paired it *with some effort, mind you* to my treo 700p successfully. I even hotsynced it, which took only 5 minutes, so it was a good and fast connection too. I guess this means I did install the widcomm drivers correctly.

So, the problem remains with the connection between my headset and belkin bt adapter...Any suggestions?

I got a new error concerning security just now...Don't have the exact wording. I've tried using a "secure connection" and not, but still no success.

I also have successfully connected via "Hands-Free" service, and I've tested it using MS Messenger (using the set-up to test bt headset mic & headphone for listening and speaking adjustment) and that seemed to work just fine. So I guess the only problem is with "Stereo Audio"...

PCMCIA cards are seen as "compatible" in the Device Manager settings, not as an actual Device ID. Anyway, go to http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=307233 and you'll find a way to get this to work with PCMCIA cards.

You can find some good step-by-step instructions and as well as active downlinks (at least they were as of yesterday) at the site www.dev-hack.com (http://www.dev-hack.com). It's a pretty slick site as well.

If you want to go directly to the posts and downlinks for the file you want, go to this thread. Click here. (http://www.dev-hack.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1297)

Hi! My first post here:

Read the entire forum about 5 times which helped me greatly,
I've been able to get 5.1.0.1100 and have it working with my dongle.
Everyhing works except stereo audio to my Motorola HT820 Headset.

The dongle came with a CD that includes an older Widcomm 3.xx software version
and everything on that works, but is too old and does not support A2DP.

A quick sanity check, running BlueSoleil demo version (5MB data limit) works just fine so I *could* purchase it to get this to work
but that's no fun and I'd never learn anything ;-)

Anyhow from the forum I've figured out how to install 5.1.0.110
and make it work license patch & all, but no stereo headset goodness,
I am able to get 'handfree' working but that gives low quality
64kbps 8bit 'phone' quality audio.

Both services show up:

Motorola HT820 Hands-Free Unit --> Works
-and
Motorla HT820 Stereo audio --> Cannot connect : (

If I try to connect to stereo audio it just times out and fails.
Did reinstalling/pairing and rebooting 6 times now
no change in result.

My dongle is a high power class 1 BT (100mw) *yea I can hear it a block away*
no-name device (Compusa Branded on box) purchased at Compusa.
I've modified the ini file and license to include it.
The device uses a CSR chipset (Cambridge Silicon Radio)
(not Broadcom) and doesn't work at all with the latest software downloadable at the Broadcom site.

Firmware version is 1593

HCI Version : T HCI 1.1
HCI Revison : 0639
LMP Version : BT LMP 1.1
LMP Sub Version: 0639

Any ideas why the stereo audio won't connect?
I noticed some people here on the forum have/had the same problem
and for others it seems to just work.
It does work with BlueSoleil, so I at least know
the hardware can handle it.

Thanks!!!

You are not the only one having A2DP problems with the Widcomm 5.x drivers. I have tried it on two diffrent CSR dongles and everything works except A2DP.

My recommendation is that you try the Widcomm 4.0.1.3000 drivers. I'm running that version and both A2DP and AVRCP works like a charm.

The only bug I've found so far is that if you enter standby or hibernate mode while A2DP is connected you have to reboot to get A2DP working again. Dropping the A2DP connection before entering standby or hibernate mode solves the problem.

Assuming you are running XP: in device manager, when you double click on your bluetooth device, you will get the device properties page. when you select the 'driver' tab and click on 'update driver' the wizard will start. Select 'no, not this time' and next, select 'install form a list or specific location' and next, select 'don't search, I will choose the driver to install and next. There you will see the 'Have Disk' option. Navigate to where your widcomm\driver\usb folder is and you should see there the inf file. Once you select the inf file you will see the device listed...

I have a quick question and I hope it has an easy solution.

I had 5.1.0.1100 patched and installed on two of the same exact laptops. I was able to use a CSR dongle perfectly fine on both laptops. The trial on one of the laptops expired so I went legit and bought a Broadcom 2045 based dongle from walmart. The software that came with the dongle is Widcomm 5.1.0.3300. I have installed the software on both laptops and the dongle works correctly on one laptop. Ive uninstalled and reinstalled repeatedly. The icon stays blue/white but I get "Your Bluetooth device could not start the search for devices" during the wizard's search for devices.

Is there something that was installed in the registry/software that didnt quite get removed on the laptop that isnt working? Or are there some files that I can copy from the "working laptop" to get the "non working" laptop working properly? Right now the only version I can get working on the "non working" laptop is 5.1.0.1100 in trial mode.

in short
I have 2 of the same laptop runing xp sp2. Same 5.1.0.3300 installed on both. The Broadcom dongle only works on one. Any suggestions?

I have 2 of the same laptop runing xp sp2. Same 5.1.0.3300 installed on both. The Broadcom dongle only works on one. Any suggestions?

Good thread... Finally connected my Logitech Mini-BT Receiver that came with my diNovo Laser desktop... also connected my Jawbone headset... even got Logitech SetPoint installed and working. All buttons work!

Crazy.

The only thing remaining is the Stereo connection for my Motorola S9 - it connects fine, uses the Audio Gateway service, says it's connecting Stereo, but I can only hear mono out of one ear... No options are available to change to stereo. Grr - anyone else having A2DP issues?

Duuuh...I had it connected to a usb hub instead of directly to the onboard usb.

Don't know about your setup but i can tell you that I:
Also have a CSR hardware based dongle (dongle itself manufactured/sold by Insten)
My 5.1.0.1100 trial license always comes up with something around 240 trillion days left on my trial! Needless to say it has never expired on me.
I typically have my dongle connected to my USB hub and not directly to my laptop or laptop with docking station and it always works just fine (maybe it's your hub).
It also works fine when it IS connected directly to the laptop or the laptop with its docking station.

I just realized that the available services do not include A2DP (Stereo)... I've been authorizing the Audio Gateway and Headset services for my Motorola S9, but can only get Mono audio when playing music from my computer...

Am I missing something here?

Just a problem with mine, I install the drivers, no problems, all fine, patch the thing, but when I click in the BT icon, it says 3bluetooth device not found" o_O ! But the device is detected by windows, it is showed in the Hardware manager "Bluetooth Frimware" or something like that...
When I'm trying to ininstall the drivers, the program say "Please unplug or shut down the BT device" but he don't detecte it ?!! He don't want to use it ! He is playing with me !
In my ubuntu studio, th BT device is nicely detected all works 100% ...
An Idea please.

PS : The file posted and shared in torrents is not a 5.1.0.1100 it is 5.1.0.802 ... Look in the title of the window when the install shield is on ;) !
