New maps for iGo / Mio are smaller than previous ones most of the time because of better compresion unles they have massive amount of new information. I have tried some of these and they work fine.
It's one of those "take it leave it" things.

Thanks a lot for your prompt reply.
In fact, the files contained in your archive are exactly the same as mine (same size, date, hour,...), except for the speedcam (which is irrelevant for now).

The problem is that i still have the road names in english (the poi are in hebrew, though), and i'd like to have all the names in hebrew.

So, if you're sure this is the hebrew israel map for igo 8, then maybe i need to activate some option in order to switch to hebrew?
IMHO, i think this is the english version and i need another file for the hebrew names, but i'm not quite sure about it as it is already the second time i get a file which is supposed to be in hebrew...:confused:

Any help, please?

First you did not say you need hebrew but here it is anyway

"anonym.to" was not meant to make you donload from Rapidshare many times. It is to hide where the link has come from. If RS gets thousands of hits to same file in a short period of time they will want to know if it is legal content and if not which site is linked to. They will just delete the link.

you're right, i forgot to mention it, but it was in a previous post, though.

You're absolutely right, this israel map is old (and it is in english!).
I'm used to go quite often to Yad Biniamin and they added it in the previous version, now it's missing again :mad:

ok, i've played a bit around with the program. the situation, pretty weird though, is like this:
in the settings/regional/program language option, i got 3 possibilites:
1. english (uk).
2. english (us).
3. french.

both english options, gives me english road names. however, the french option gives me hebrew road names!
i must say this is totaly weird, besides i don't really like have the french language as program language.
Also, even in this situation, part of the messages/commands are english, part are french. so, obviously there is some kind of problem here.

So, i'd like to her any suggestion, how do i keep the english ui, while getting the hebrew road names?

Ok, i've found something more: the reason why i got only part-french messages is because i don't actually have the french ui file, but i've rather used the igo 2006 french file, which has probably only part of the translation of 2008...
However, i've used the same way to put the hebrew ui file (of v2006), but it doesn't even show in the options...

toto 2007 - you should make sure you have the Lang_Hebrew_Pda.zip file in the iGO8/content/lang folder - this will give you the option of selecting Hebrew as an interface language under Settings->Regional->Program Language (all the text, menus etc will be in Hebrew, as will the street names on the maps). If you have the Voice_Hb-m1.zip file in the iGO8/content/voice folder, you will be able to hear the instructions in Hebrew by selecting it under Settings->Regional->Voice Profile (although my Hebrew voice file seems to be corrupted and I'm currently looking for a new one...).

Yes, you're right, i've put the updated hebrew language file and indeed everything, including the road names are in hebrew.

However, i'd like to keep the english ui, and have only the road names in hebrew, just as it worked fine in the previous version of igo (2006,...).

Is ther a way for doing that?
I wouldn't mind even "patching" a config file for this.

Any suggestion please?

Even though this shows as version 2008.01, it is MORE RECENT AND UPDATED than the 2008.03 one linked here earlier. The 2008.03 one is from "Mapi Nav N Go" while the 2008.01 is from "Mapa", and the 03 and 01 don't mean much anyway, since the 2008.03 one is dated 080425 while the 2008.01 from Mapa is dated 080630. It's not perfect either (are there any maps anywhere that are?), but I find it to be MUCH better on the whole than the 2008.03 one. The POI file is also fixed (no more mixed Hebrew/English POIs - they will all be either in Hebrew if the language is set to Hebrew, or English if the language is set to English). The buildings work fine also (and there are tons of them - every small building in every city in Israel I've tested it in so far seems to be there!)

You are very right about the maps. It seams the newer the map the worst they are. The best map for UK was 2007.01 but unfortunately it would not work with iGO8.

PNA is Personal Navigation Assistant. It means they are purpose built units made mainly just for navigation - like TomTom Go, TomTom One, Garmin Nuvi etc units. On the other hand you have PDAs (lately that means all Windows Mobile Phones)

see my post #1026 earlier in this thread for a download link for the language + voice files... note that it's for igo8, not 2006 (although i think the voice file probably works with both). if you want to use it with the israel map, you need to make sure you have the proper license file. do you see the israel map properly?

Well I looked at your #1026 ... but it's still not clear for me where to place those files and you said that they are for igo8 not 2006. So how do I know if my Mio c520 is igo8 or not?

Could someone please help me with Israel map 2007 on Hebrew?
I downloaded it from http://uploaded.to/file/u5zfyv/Israel_2007.07_080121_heb.fbl but when I open it all text is in English. My lang and program set for Hebrew. All menu text is in Hebrew. Only Israel map text is on English.
What I'm doing wrong?

I have bought a no name GPS that has come with I Go demo software - Australian map.

I am wondering if I should now buy the software (or download it), I would also like the Europe maps as well as the Australia one.

If I download it can i put it on any SD card (thus meaning I have room for music), as I have noticed that the ones they provide seem to only have room for the maps.

And is there other software I can use? or is this the only type that can be used on any gps? How does it work if they are not preloaded on an SD card, do you download it and go through product registration etc? This is my first GPS and I don't really know anything about the software... If there is other software, would you recommend it or should I stick with iGo?

I have also heard that it doesnt have text to voice, is that right?

I would so appreciate any help as I am stumped! Not sure if this is even the right forum, but there seemed to be a lot of answers and knowledge so it sounded good... : )

The last link is PDA version from 24th June. I thought that thats what you were after. I have heard through the grapvine that there is very recent version of iGO 8 but have not seen any "usable" ;) yet.

I dont think there is nor there will be iGO for iphone but since I have no interest in iphone I could not tell you for sure.

in fact i thought some user requested the pc version :(
you don't need to look for it for me, i'm a mac user only, i don't get even nearby to a pc ;)

about the iphone version of igo, the company has officially announced there will be one soon, there are some demos on the net.
So, when it will be available, would here be the right place to talk about it?

FYI, if you like nice things, i strongly recommend to take a look at the iphone.
There is a reason why so many people are after the iphone. ok, maybe there are some crazy guys over there too. The point is, that eventhough the iphone isn't perfect, it is amazingly well conceived, so intuitive, there is really nothing alike. even for simple tasks, such as receiving/rejecting a call, managing contacts/appointments/music,...
well of course, i'm talking about the "jailbraked" iphone, which is open to a huge community of users/apps, you name it. it is unix-based, just as the mac, so it is very very stable and extremely powerful. you can access it using the standard unix tools (terminal, ssh,...).

The best I can do is find you some links for iGo8 fro PNA but that is as far as I go with PNA devices because I do not have one so do not know much about them. This would be your first port of call:

Worked for me.
Sometimes there are CRC errors and you have to re-download the of*****ng part. Download it again and try again.

How do you get iGO8 to reconize your poi's from iGO2006.
igo.db is the file where iGO2006 keeps your custom poi's, your saved pins etc. but I don't know how to transfer these to iGO8.

But here are few problems I had:
1. I couldn't download "iGO 8 for MIO C520 updated 04.2009.part04.rar", but I guess it had a map, o it's not so important.
2. There are many duplicate files in all those parts, right?
3. Now, here is the problem: When I run iGO8.exe, I get:"Program application database can not be found"
:(

Please advice.
The Destinator. btw, works fine, but I preffer the famous iGO8 :)

You only decompres part1 of rar archive and all the other parts are decompressed automatcally. If you have not got part4 than the whole archive is useless becuase you will have some files missing and the archive would not have extracted correctly.

To decompress any rar file with more than just one part ( finishing with part1 or has .00*.rar * being different number) what I do is right click on the first part ( or any part for that matter) and select one of the extraction options. The program will automatically find all parts and extract them in right order where ever you selected to decompress them.

No I just tried part4 and get same error. If you are missing part4 than all the other parts are useless without it.

I think My Way was only in igo 2006. The one in my last post is Nav n Go Igo 8 is the new version of that so try that one. In the same package there should be few different versions of Israel maps. I was told 2009.02 is the best one so good luck with this.:)

Ther are two releases of software R1 (igo 8.1xxx) and R3 ( igo 8.3xxx) and the maps are not compatable between the two versions. Amigo (I think) also uses R3 maps. Hope this helps.

A relative of mine is going to Israel and he has the Magellan Roadmate1412 that runs on windows ce core 5.0.
Can he use that there? is there maps to be gotten for this in israel?

I have Magellan Maestro 3140 North America, running IGO8, with EU and Israel maps, on SD. Conceivable that your Magellan can be altered to run other GPS software. You can look around the various sites, like GPSpasion, etc. and find the solution.
If all else fails I may be able to guide you.
