Hi,

I have been reading alot of posts but I am fairly new to the whole "patching" thing. I have a laptop (ACER Ferrari 4005) that I am trying to update to the latest Bluetooth drivers. I am currently running 3.0.1.906 but this version doesn't allow me to connect to all my BT devices. Primarily I would like to connect my HT-820 BT headset in STEREO. Anyone have success with installing BT on this laptop? It has the Brodcomm Blutonium BCM 2035 chipset. Please submit a good tutorial or link that would help to get the drivers installed.;)

layta!

So here's what I have done so far. I have the 5.1.0.1100 BT drivers installed. The problem is...the icon never turns blue and white. Everything indicates that it's working but no connectivity. I ran the license patcher that came with it but not sure just what this is supposed to do since the driver is already installed. Please help! I know I'm really close to getting this working but perhaps missing some steps.

Thanks;)

SO...it looks like im the only person in this thread. You mean no one on this forum has an ACER Ferrari or similar laptop?

Anyway...as for the license patcher. Do I run this in safe mode or in normal mode? Do I need to run this before or after installing the driver? It would seem to me that it must be run before the driver installation. If someone could layout the install steps I'm sure I (and others) could get this working.

Thanks:rolleyes:

The patcher has to be in Safe Mode, and do it after WIDCOMM installed.

I have the same laptop.

I have Logitech Bluetooth stereo headphone working under 4.0.1.7 driver.
Once I got updated to 5.1.0.110 I can no longer get it to work again. It will not pair and will not find "service" available from my headphone.

On the other hand, it works now with my HW6516 BT active sync prefectly. :D

Hey ecsw.....since you have this working on the Ferrari.

Maybe you can post your working versions of 4.0.1.700 and the 5.1.0.100. I have tried patching the installs from this forum and while the driver installs ok...the bluetooth just won't work. I push the BT button on the front of the laptop but no BT device is found. I can't bring up the advanced functions to even begin to pair devices.

Strange, I recently update the acer BT 5.0.1.1500 (the one that can be found at the ftp.acer-euro.com site in the notebooks -> Aspire 9800 -> drivers folder ) to the 5.0.1.2800 from IBM
http://www-3.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-61425

The IBM version installed WITHOUT any modifications (patching) to the package and works.

So maybe patching is the problem here.

Try the Acer ones first and install the IBM ones over it.

I have a very similar laptop (TravelMate 8100) and the same dongle.

A quick sanity check: Does your laptop have a button on it that you have to press to enable the bluetooth dongle? For some reason I have to press it, wait a moment, then press it again in order to get bluetooth.

Also, Acer's terrible power management software takes an eternity to load and when it finally does, it switched bluetooth off again, even when running on mains power, so you have to switch it on a third time!

Other than those problems, Widcomm 5.0.1.2800 is working fine for me.
