Motorola A835

My Motorola A835 developed a problem of switching on and off. As you switch it on while searching for the network and my wallpaper it switches itself off, and on again, and again until I completety switch it off. No alert, no nothing. What can I do to fix it again? My mate here advised me to flash the phone, but what is flashing anyway?Any friend who can help with some details of how to flash the phone?Be kind and help please.
