Dear Posters/Moderators,

I'm really sorry for my rude behaviours last time. I had given up posting in year 2004 itself i guess.

Well I have some questions waiting for you to get them answered.

1) I just received SIMMAX 12 in 1 card with reader. I Put sim in reader and waited for KI to be retrieved. This reader has 3 crystals operating @ 3.57...MhZ, 7... MHZ and 14Mhz respectively. The max speed i can read a sim is with 7... Mhz. Why my sim does not respond to ATR when i use 14Mhz??

2) Is KI always retrievable?

3) Can i use another software with my hardware? A driver has been installed to detect the USB reader as COM Port.

I hope you will respond to this thread.

@ 1) The GSM protocol requires a communication at 3,5679. It might happen that some smart/simcards can go higher than that (like in your case at 7 Mhz) but that's not the rule... especialy when dealing with an old simcard.

@ 2) No, not always. Only in about 10 % of the cases you will find the KI. The other 90% are comp128V2 generation cards.

@3) Yes, you can usualy. At least in order to find the Ki, but if you use a card like Simmax you will have to find a way how to "teach" your smartcard the different file format... :)

... your hope just got true

thanks for the previous reply but regarding to the above quote, can you please be more explicit....

I did try using SIM SCAN V2.0 but when I try to write KI_IMSI.dat it says File error...

You also told that it's not always to retrieve KI due to COMP128V2 - I tried to read another SIM but it said failed, is it because of this?
