U8500 error reported at end of unlock (but success) [Archive]

Hi all,

It's my first try with U8500 unlocking, so I'm not sure I've done everything well :)
So, first of all, great work here Furious Team ;)

At the end of the flash process (on a U8500 SFR phone, with U8500_UNLOCK_DE_EN_DU_CZ_HU_CR_PL_SL_TURK unlock firmware), the phone was unlocked correctely :)
But in the log is displayed an error, so here's the log:

Sorry for the french version, I didn't though it could usefull to get it in English.

I just tried on a second phone, with english used as language, to give you a more useful log, but the problem didn't appeared.

Sometimes verry rare this can happen. i suggest reflash again first phone aswell as some area remained unrecovered !

also possible that u still use the beta module and not final one introduced on latest setup so in beta error can happen.

No, I didn't had the chance to try the beta (I was in vacation), so I downloaded the latest setup this morning.

So, I did some other tries, but all failed :(
I'm still having the same error at the end, although the phone is unlocked (and using the SFR logo on startup).

BTW, I've another problem on this phone (another device). The first 2 steps work ok (nv read, and the long writing step), but it fails to wake up the phone. THe 25 secs countdown come to 0, and at end, the phone just keep rebooting on SFR logo. I've tried flashing it with SFR fw, I still have the same problem. But the phone is still working, pfew :)

I've 3 other pieces to unlock... I'll tell you more about those.

Edit: I've just tried another one. Here's the log:

simply keep pressed 2+5 and power on...after phone frezze on startup logo connect to usb cable and flash with unblocked firmware. at the end write nv and that all. same do for blinkin one. also if the phone dont power on itself then u do it. simply press power on while soft wait answer from it.

Great, it seems to have worked for the frozen one :)
I flashed it with unlock fw once repaired, and it works ok now.

Sorry to be so bad, but I can't get one of those unlocked. On 6 pieces, I've only one phone which really is a problem. I've tried unlocking it with the 2 unlock fw of the support area, but both are stopping after the first long writing step.
I've used the repair method you described in your previous post in between, and the phone was and is still working ok.

Would you know if there's anything I'm doing wrong?
I also wanted to try this: flash it in emergency mode with the O2 unlocked firmware, and then writing the NV file of the support zone. Is there any chance to break definitely the phone by doing so?

Edit: BTW, do you know if there's any limited write fw action possible on a phone? So I can stop trying before freezing it for eternity :D

Seems I just found a crappy version... It first after the first erasing:

No. The problem appears when EFS Erasing step is done. On all other devices, Phone goes in File system startup (displayed within a yellow box on the phone) and stay as it until the soft finish to countdown the 25 secs.
But with this model, phone displays the same message *but* it reboots when the countdowns reaches about 5-6 secs :( And then it just doesn't stop blinking, and Windows detect that a problem has appeared with this USB Device (tool tip to say that it can't recognize the device, thus can't add it as COM port).

I've tried putting those 25s at use by unplugging, removing the battery, replugging in emergency mode (powering it on normally just lead to blinking). But it doesn't help.

Restoring it with the SFR firmware can't help anymore now... But I guess I know why now :'(

Ok; we want first to try to use the warranty. I'm almost sure they won't want to do anything.
I'll keep you posted about that by PM.
Anyway, thanks a lot for all the support you bring me (and surely other guys ;) ) on those phones :)
