I have the unlock codes that were e-mailed me from Cingular for the LG CU500. I followed their directions but I still can't unlock this phone. After I power up and put in the sim card they suggested (a new unactivated card) I get an error message of invalid smart card. I can't get a prompt to enter the unlock codes. Does anyone know what steps I can take to unlock this phone?

There's a post on here for how to get to the enter lock code. I got there, but I don't have a code to use.

Per Cingular policy:
You have to have a Cingular Account.
Your account has to be active for AT LEAST 90 days and in good standing.
You might need to provide proof of purchase to Cingular.
Phone should be purchased without a plan for them to consider unlocking you IF you didn't buy it from them directly. (Proof of purchase may be required - I had a hard time with this one)
You must give legitimate reason for unlocking the subsidy code.
AND last but not least it will take 5-7 business day to approve.
I am in day 15,... still waiting.:(
This is not an easy process so if you find a phone that is unlocked this is the "hell" that you have to endure to get it subsidy unlocked.:rolleyes:
remember: Unlocking the PUK is NOT the same thing as unlocking the subsidy code. So, careful what you interpret as being easy or hard.:cool:
ALSO:
You CANNOT get this code from LG directly, so don't try. CINGULAR ONLY!!!

IF you have the subsidy unlock code from Cingular and bad instructions:
159753#*#
NCK prompt enter the number they gave you.
You can only enter the code 5 times incorrectly and then "uh oh hot dog" SOL.:eek:

You know where to go if u need to unlcok counter blocked ones aswell.
