hi guys, i got my KI & IMSI using dejan's & lucked out since I used F1, & I got me a gold card, when i try programming it fails @ 000h,, does it mean the card is used, or what am I doing wrong, when i tried F6 from dejan's sim_scan, it exits with an error "this program has....." also, if goldcards can be erased, how can I do so, i did try erase using icprog, & it says, DONE!! winphinex reads the crad & resets it but can not identify it, i am totaly lost here, help is apreciated, thanx.
thanx
Hmm, it seems like you have a problem with your programmer. Many times the power of the rs232 is not enough to program the goldcard. You should try to use an older computer or built a new programmer with external power support (a battery will do also). There are many links out with different smartcard programmers. Just visit few sattelite boards.
Good luck :)
You see to sea to see that there is only sea to see. :p
What kind of programmer/interface are you using?
Which software are you using to program?

Alf, i am using a 1 year old smartmouse, i guess that is what it is called, it has 2 different cristals, 3.57 & 6.00 , & 2 jumper switches, one of them i was able to identify as the speed switch to switch between 3.57 mhz & 6.0 mhz & the other one i do not know why, however, i was able to extract my ki & imsi using dejan sim_scan on both speeds from 2 different cards, so the darn thing works for reading, but it dumps errors on the screen when i try writing, I did try all different combinations of the 2 jumpers with no luck........ here is what I see on the thing:
16 leg ,ICL232CPE chip
14 leg chip with these numbers :
74HCOON
C1861ME
Hnn9905 G
& 2 cristals 5.5795 & 6.000,
it is powered by 9VOLTS battery( which I changed to external DC power since it kept running down when I extracted the KI)
I tried searching the net for a manufacturer with what is written on the sim-card slot, AMPHENOL, to find out they make the plastic end of the sim-card reader, also on the back of it it says :
L.E.T MALTA
which i could not find anywhere on the net.
sorry for the lengthy post, but i am desprate for help.
A gold card contains both a pic and an eeprom. Your smartmouse is fine for reading the original sim card, but to make a gold card you also need a pic programmer. Once the pic is programmed, Simscan can write to the eeprom using your smatmouse.
That's right!
fofodaman, you need a pic programmer to programm your goldcard first. A smartmouse can only communicate with the program that is stored on the card, but it can not PRORAM an empty PIC. The smartmouse is a kind of terminal utility, but the picprogrammer is a real programmer.
You should get you a Ludipipo or a JDM Pic programmer with Smartcard adaptor. You can build one yourself (about 10 EURO or less expenses) or buy one at the site's sponsor. ;)
Good luck

ok guys, thanx for your replies, my unit(what i refered to as smartmouse before) has both the 232cpe & THE OTHER chip, whatever that is, my question is, would someone be kind enough to read my description above & tell me if what I have qualifies for a pic programmer or not.
Thanx.
Fofodaman,
what you have is just a Smartmouse with two Crystals 3.579 for the older smartcards and 6.000 mhz for the newer ones. The max232 chip is typicaly for a smartmouse and corrects the voltage from our serial to the smartcard and vice versa. The 74HC00 Chip is an inverter which is in charge of protecting the output/input ports (some cheap mouses use transistors instead or even nothing at all). It is also used to inverse the clock to make your mouse compatible with the phoenix.
So, the resumer is you can NOT PROGRAM a PIC with your device. You can only communicate with a Pic that allready contains software inside to store i.e. data in the eprom of a GW card. That's all.
You need to buy a PIC programmer.

ok guys, so i am left with a useless unit, at least for what i want to do, will someone recommend a ceartin unit that is both , inexpensive & practical ?
thanx.
You can build your own JDM programmer to program the PIC...
A simple JDM schematic can be found here (http://www.jdm.homepage.dk/newpic.htm)
It's just the matter of getting a SIM holder and with very few components and wiring you're done...

thanx ALF, if I start looking for these simple components, i'll be spending days probably weeks trying to get it to work,,,,, it is me not them ;)
i was looking to buy one, i got some gold cards to test with, so i want to ask for your opinion, where to buy & are they trust worthy,,, thanx.

Do you recommend a particular unit? i would like to get something that will do the whole thing ,,, have anyone used the new PCMCIA unit? it sounds good! but will it work with the existing programs or should I stick to the old fashoned ones ?
