Is it possible to upgrade the operating system (Windows Mobile 2003 SE > Windows Mobile 5.0) on the Samsung SGH-i300? Does anybody tried this or have an idea?

is your rom specificed for i300 ?
Now, here's the way you move:
power off your phone, and take off the accu.
then, connect it to pc by normal usb cabel
Then, Press the red telephon button and the back butten together, now, your windows should find drivers.
Then load up Flash Programm pdaflash and download every file to phone (by starting with smartpon end ENDING with chain! so its realy important to do this like that!
After EVERY File you have to press the 2 buttons again
when you are at the end, you can place the accu, and hardrest (zero and on button, password 1234) the i300
then you got the new rom!

still problem with me.drivers are installedwhen i presed red and back button and then i opened flash program but when i click on download start it give error (usb is not connected or key is not prassed)
you have to do this as long pdaflash says "devcies connect" ! Need some time somestimes

but there isn't any wm5 rom for i300 or samsung wasn't release any wm5 rom for i300.

Unfortunately there isn't any wm5 rom for i300 and we must send many request to samsun to release that.

some people have wm5 builtin on i300.its a big problem for us that i300 is QVGA mobile and have wm2k3.many software comes not for qvga if comes then required wm5 qvga so thats why i want upgrade my mobile.i cant play games on it just like skyforce counter strike domm and many other if play thats are in small resulation or for wm5. many games when i play only sounds come but not screen come
what i must do I love my i300 and i can't buy another phone.
thats the point! I Love the i300, cause the wheel, cause much other things.
I can live with the batterie issuse, but with the other things?

my i300 has had a fit and lost the hard drive i've checked it through tools on my pc and it shows as healthy i just can't get the phone to access it & it will not format either from the handset or pc.
anyway i came across this thread during my search for help.
Q. has this happened to anyone here?

Q. can someone provide a link to i300 firmware and detailed guide to the install (i'm clueless at in depth prgramming stuff) as last ditch i think a reinstall may cure the issue.

no,my phone is in repair shop,it has bad sector. they said "now we haven't available any hd for i300".as i remember my hd wasn't format more than 67% and it error was "can't write to disk".
i will try to tell them to install more than 3gb hd in my phone,such 4gb or 8gb.:cool:
i think 4gb hd work fine but i doubt it support 8gb hd. :rolleyes:
in my mind you must send your i300 to repair shop immediately.:)

if anyone upload i300 (wm5) dumped rom ,i will try to create a rom for it ( i hope :rolleyes: ) and if i couldn't create installable rom for our i300 ,there are many guys in xda-developers, them can help us.
tried to flash with PDA flash but it gives me " Aborted download , reconnect device to try again" with all files and the flash of thor.bin hangs at 46% .
the good thing , i m still able to use my device.
I get phone with WM5.

try romdump.exe and copy dumped rom to pc.
download Attached File and copy "dumpromx.exe" and "run.bat" and your dumped rom in a folder,then create a New Folder and rename it to "rom_files".now run "run.bat", it will extract all files that exist in dumped rom.:)
maybe you find new version of i300's programs (that exist in i310's rom) such SMPlayer TaskManager TimeManager camera and ...
i suggest flash your device with your last worked rom before hardreset.:)

i have the I300X_31 , its wm2003se . so the chances of this ROM to be WM5 is very low, i m tired of flashing my phone eveyday and loading all the stuff back again, can anyone else try and flash it ?

I have seen these photos before. But where I can find this WM5 ROM to i300, i308 or i300x?? Maybe somebody have the phone like that with WM5 and we can download from his phone this WM5 ROM? I see it is very difficult to find WM5 ROM to our phones, isn’t it?

I flash it I310 with it I300 sw.
(chain_all.lst)
Now only the foto lamp lights, usb which cannot be seen-n, the optiflash does not see it, and not see the ufs.
Now totally dead.
Is in this direction something solution?
This is the only WM5.0 rom for the i300 that I know of.. I've uploaded it for you.. Oh yeah, don't ask me for help..

There is no ROM I300ZMFA5. As far as I know there is a I308ZMFA5 :P and unfortunately it only wm2003se ROM.
