Hi ppl,

First time poster...hope you guys can help me out...

I have a Cingular E62, which is very resticted and I want to re-flash it to a unbranded firmware hope i can get some answers...

1) what is the code for U.S. unbranded?
2) what is the code for Taiwan Chinese unbranded?
3) will i be able to use firmware from Taiwan Chinese E61 for my Cingular E62?
4) does NSS still work for things like these?

I have used NSS to update my Nokia N73 firmware before, but it was a couple months ago....

Hey, does anyone know if this procedure will work with the Nokia 5300. Im in Canada on the Rogers network. This Rogers branded phone is ****. Anyone got any tips?

update: Ok i just tried this with my 5300, i was able to change the product code with NSS but then when i tried to upgrade with NSU it told me i didnt need to upgrade..how do i get around this...ill even downgrade if i have too, to get rid of this rogers branding..HELP :(

Hey, im guessing this procedure wont work if i already have the newest firmware on the phone already right? Cuz no matter how many times i change the product code, NSU keeps sayin my phone is up to date and doesnt need software upgrade..

What should i do, is there a way to trick NSU into thinkin i have an old version of the software so it will overwrite with new version?

my current version is 04.49

Hey all.

I'm having problems getting NSS to detect my unlocked 3 (Australia) branded 6288. Is this model supported? Nokia connection manager says "Nokia 6288 connected via USB" and everything works through PC suite.

I tried hooking up my N73 via cable and NSS detected it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've spent the last 2 days trying to figure out why it would not work. I've uninstalled all the programs and even tried on my laptop, but I still can't get NSS to detect my branded 6288. I'm beginning to wonder if 3 has put some sort of a lock/block on it?

I am not sure who has already done this, but i was to afraid to flash my phone so i went into the area where you can Reset settings all i did was reset full factory settings and now i can use mp3s as ring tones and send music etc.
i have not tested on the internet restrictions using files to access the net yet though, someone else can do that.

my phone is the nokia 6133.

I just want to clarify that with the use of NSU, some phones still cannot remove operator customizations. I tried with RM-222, RM-217 (6300), the firmware is updated, but operator customization stayed.

That means you didn't succeed to change the product code with NSS

After firmware-update with nsu, the phone ist still restricted to T-Mobile...
I also tried a product code from UK. After an new firmware-update with nsu the language is english but the code still restricted.

Is the 6233 so intelligent? Or dumb? Or immune?

If yes, it's normal, this procedure won't unlock any phone, this way you can only debrand/update the firmware...

Close Nokia PC suite (right click/exit on sistem tray icon) and reconnect the phone to pc, it should work.

It's strange, can you access E65 with nokia pc suite ?
Try to reinstall drivers (uninstall it first from device manager/modems/Nokia E 65 usb modem)

Hi everybody,

I just receive my new nokia 7390. I really like it but for one thing the language in it are two asiatic, english and Malean (product code 0534680)

I tryied to use what was said in this subject to force my phone to get an other firmware by changing to product code so that i can have the french language english and if possible czech (last one is not really so much important). I tried several product code with nss:

I am sure the code changed in the phone since when i restarted nss and scan the phone the new code was showing. But when i ran nsu it always told me i had the newest firmware 4.51...

If not, you have a newer (higher) version in the phone, and update is unavailable for now on nokia web site, you must wait...

Voila! at last i successfully debranded my phone. For those who still unable to do it I want to point out and add this basic but important reminder that you must remove and clean any mobile related drivers, PC suite and including NSS after you altered the product code, which i suspect interfere with your usb connection during the flashing process. And forget about phoenix( Installing this soft alone would drain you out if you won't get the the timing and trick of course)Thanks.

No it just tell me that i have the latest what is strange is that when i look on nokia website for update availability for some code my firmware is newer that what they say. example: my code is 0534680 on europe nokia website the newest version is 3.84 from asia website I couldn't find a page similar to software update availability page from europe website.
And again from europe website the version for 0534532 is 3.84

If not, you have a newer (higher) version in the phone, and update is unavailable for now on nokia web site, you must wait...
Czech language should be included in 0534532 Euro_D_Latin_Black_Bronze

I guess that firmware doesn't come out everyday, is is possible to flash the firmware with nss and a dku-2 cable? If yes where can find the files for 0534532 code?

NSS doesn't work for flashing (unless you buy the Diamond dongle)
There is a free solution, Phoenix (cracked) but it's a little bit difficult than NSU and if something goes wrong, it might kill your phone (same thing could happen with NSU too)
For other phones like 6270, 6280 etc it's possible to revive them with Phoenix, but not 6680
So, if you are willing to try, search for BB5 Reaper 2006 it's a good totorial how to install Phoenix

Anyone know how to take a t-mobile US 5300 unbranded and fully flashed to Euro rm-146 and flash it with a rm-147 firmware again?

I have the firmwares but if I try to flash it it seems to kill the phone and I can only restore to the firmware that my phone is currently at.

I tried changing the product code with NSS to a rm-147 one but the firmware version for rm-146 is higher than the rm-147 so It seems to be a no go.

Any ideas?

Another question, when i run NSS and try and scan my phone it come up with error in the bottom left corner. am i doing something wrong?

My phone is connected to the pc via the genuine CA 53 data cable, when i downloaded NSS i picked Virtual usb device in the set up process, is this correct ?

1)Apac is the region and t language pack
2)Nokia PC suite recognize and make connection with the phone automaticly when you plug in the usb cable to pc. That's why NSS can't find the phone, you just need to close Nokia PC suite (to do that, right click/exit on nokia pc suite icon found in taskbar near clock icon)
Yes, CA-53 cable is what you need and virtual usb is ok also

No, with cracked version it's not possible, it works only with BB5 phones, 6610i is dct-4 and you need PKD-1 dongle or dongle emulator like PBB box, MT box

It's true, Phoenix can recognize dct-4 this way, but for flashing is needed FLS-4(original Nokia) or like i said PBB box, MT box and special F-bus service cable

Greets !

I'm having probs with NSS. When I install it and try to run it I get a window with "Access Violation 00400something". After that NSS opens but can't recognise the phone (I did shut down PC Suite).

Tried to reinstall but no go. What to do ?
Maybe you have problems with OS (XP) or some antivirus or antispy you might have interfering with NSS, what can i say, i'm using only NOD 32 and is quite reliable, never mix up my gsm programs

There's no significant difference, only content may differ (theme, wallpaper, etc). Both have greek lang. included.

Although the title of this thread is "flash BB5 without Phoenix" , personally i use exactly Phoenix :) , (also my Twister box ) so, i have all these data package. I don't trust too much in NSU+NSS (too many dead phones i saw in this forum)

Hi.

Is it posible to change the product code for nokia 6288 with nss software? , i can change the product code for n70 n95 n80 but NSS does not work for 6288, Please help.
I saw many ppl with the same problem with 6288, but i don't have one to test it, i'm sure it can be done...
Try this:
1)restart pc
2)after restart close nokia pc suite (from taskbar icon)
3)connect the phone to pc (you can try to change usb port and wait for XP to install the drivers) Also remove any devices you might have from usb ports like printer, scanner etc.
4)open NSS, press scan in "phone info" tab, you should see phone's version and imei
5)press "read" button, now you should see the current product code, HW version
6)Tick "enable" in product code's line and edit your desired code, then press "write" button
That's all, close NSS, open it again to check if the code has changed.

If that doesn't work, try to disconnect phone from pc after step 5, connect it again and go to step 6

PS.
At step 3 choose "default mode" when phone asks connection mode.

I've got a 6280 in the UK, locked to Vodafone and branded. I know the NSU stopped offering updates to the 6280 since many early versions died trying the update (mine included) and had to be sent off to a service center for (I think) an updated flex to let it use newer firmware. Mine now has v6.10. Is it still possible, using the 6288 unbranded code, to update to an unbranded 6288 firmware with this method? The phone has RM-78 and I beleive renegade said it should be ok because of that.

If it is possible this way, could you give me either a UK, or Euro code for an unbranded 6288? Thanks :)

No luck there it seems, PC Suite still sees the phone as a 6280, as does the software updater. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong? I load the NSS program, goto the phone info. and write the code value before trying to run the updater but each time it says my phone (as a 6280) isn't supported.

Yeah I have checked earlier when I was reading about this unbranding method and I do already have v6.10 on my phone after it came back from being repaired. While that doesn't seem to stop this solution, the fact that they disabled the 6280 from receiving updates from NSU is stopping it I believe. Unless I can trick NSU into believing I have a 6288 I won't be able to do this method.

I do appreciate you giving me those codes though renegade, even if I'm not able to make them work :)

However, it is still restricted to the 3 UK network, still gives me the 3 logo
when I turn it on, and still says 'Phone restricted' when I try to insert a
different SIM card. I thought this procedure would unlock it too?

nss said "done" but when i tried to update with nokias update it sais that the phone its not supported :mad: i have v03.41 in my 6280 now...

Yes, all have english included
Just make sure you have changed successfuly the product code with NSS(close NSS, reopen it and read the phone again)

You can choose whatever you want, nothing bad could happen as long is N73 RM-133 product code (always check sw and RM type with *#0000#)
There are phones with the same name and different RM like N70-RM-84, N70-RM-99

hi all,

I got the product codes for the e90 EURO version.... My problem is that i don't know which one to use since the e90 has a full qwerty keyboard I don't want to mess up the layout!! i have the same exact keypad layout that its used by steve in Allaboutsymbians.com reviews. I attached a picture of it! I need if posible EURO with Spanish or just any of the EURO's will do if there is no configuration with the Spanish language in it. Please if you all can help me.

Hi guys, need some help, I have a 6300 vodafone branded uk, changed the product code to 0537626 which apparently is for european unbranded stock firmware, firmware got updated to v5, but all the branding is still there.

Does anybody have a code fore a uk stock 6300 which works? greatly apreciated.
If the branding is still there it means that you didn't changed the product code successfully
Open NSS and read the phone to see which code you have now

thing is, it does actually change the firmware, I checked the languages and they are different, I have tried the following codes

0537616 RM-217 EURO-A BLKSILVER LATIN
0537619 RM-217 EURO-B BLKSILVER LATIN
0537620 RM-217 EURO-C BLKSILVER LATIN
0537621 RM-217 EURO-C UK BLKSILVER LATIN

including 7626, nss DOES show the changed code. but when the phone reboots I still get the stupid vodafone theme and bootup logos.

But the firmware does change, I checked this by comparing the languages to each fw version and they are different, it just sinmply does not remove the vodafone related files i.e themes, bootuplogo

When using nss, do you have to tick the box next to product code or just change the code, then do write. I change the code, restart the phone reload nss and it correctly shows the new code, then goto nsu download the relevant fw but voda branding is STILL there.

The original code that is on the back of the phone sticker is not listed in your list.

I have also been through the factory setting bit and tried doing resets, still nothing seems to happen. But if I have the vodafone theme active, do a full factry reset, the live button dissapears as if it has been removed, but when reboot phone it comes back.

As i said before in another post i don't trust too much in NSU and i use Phoenix all the time which allows me to revive phones and never killed any phone with it...
But it's not easy to install and work with it, this is whay i don't recommend it to beginners who can damage their phones very easy

Thank you renegade, using Phoenix, I successfully flashed my 6300 to the unbranded european one :D it got rid of the vodafone branding so Im a happy bunny :D

Is there anything else you can do with phoenix, there seem to be lots of options but they dont seem to work, anyway once again I want to thank you!!!

Also on the bb5 tutorial, there is an option to buy a dvd with all the fw on it? how uptodate is that disc? I am thiking of buying it so I have the latest fw for most of my phones and some of my friend phones? is it worth buying? and do they send you out an updated disc with new fw if it comes?

No way to unlock 6300 with Dejan's free unlocker!!! Although the "read" function should work (if not, you have non original DKU-5 cable)

I have Nokia 6280-yesterday I unlocked it officialy-as my contract with the opwrator expired.Now I wont to get it with Bulgarian language pack.I red in this thread alot and found product codes that should work posted by Renegade65.
Well I used NSS and changed the code but when I download NSU (Only avalible for 6288 on Nokia site) and try to update phone software it says that the phone is not supported.
Pleace could you help me and tell me what to do to get my 6280 with bulgarian language pack?

I have a 6131 Vodafone live.
The things that i have to do to debrand from Vodafone live to Nokia original are:
1. Change the product code at first place (If someone knows the code for the original Nokia in Greece, i want to have the greek and english language, please inform me !! ) using the NSS program.
2.After i change the product code then i can use the NSU program to update it to NOKIA original?

Are these steps the correct ones ??

To The Renegade!:

Trying to unbrand a T-Mobile 6133 --> Generic Nokia 6131

I've followed the directions to a "T" and installed NSS, NSU, and used a european product code in NSS to change my 6133 to 6131.

I unplugged the phone, powercycled, and replugged it in using DKU2. I reloaded NSS and doubled check that the new code was in fact a NON-6133 code.

I loaded NSU and tried to update, but the phone was still detected as a 6133.

Is the new version of NSU smarter, and not letting me do the update?

If anyone can shed some light on this, I'd appreciate it!

i was reading this thread till this page, but i still cant get what i can do with NSS program. All i got it was:

- I can change my phone's languise
- I can update my phone firmware

thats it, only that, i guess im little dum at this kind of things... :rolleyes:

Any way, my prob is: I got Nokia 6280 locked to Uk's Three(3) network. But nkow im living in Portugal, and i have tried to unlock it in many ways (except using the Box, since i dont have one) that i have allready give up...! Is there a way for me to change the lock status of Three(3) network to a lock Portugal network (like vodafone)? or something like that so i can buy a sim card from a Portugal network provider?
